Chapter 461 Supernatural Ability Levels

Steven decided it was time to come clean and told Otha how he dealt with the zombie horde.

"Honestly, I just flooded them out."

"I can't say I've completely wiped out all the zombies in the West Mountain District and Eternal River District, but within a 30-mile radius, there haven't been any big zombie or giant rat movements."

Otha took a sip from his water cup after hearing Steven's explanation.

"Why didn't you tell the truth earlier? Were you hoping more of them would die because they attacked you before?"

"Or are you aiming to become the king of Starlight City?"

Steven stayed calm in the face of Otha's questions.

"At first, yeah, I might've been a bit vengeful," he admitted slowly.

"Let's be real, the relationship between our five factions isn't exactly friendly. As they weaken, I get stronger."

"But the main reason is, I really can't help them much." Steven put down his cup and clasped his hands on his knees.

"You know how extensive the subway network in Starlight City is. I can't help all their factions!"

"And I don't think this method solves the root problem. As long as the Zombie King is still alive, zombies will keep popping up."

Otha didn't agree or disagree but instead asked, "Have you seen the Zombie King?"

Steven shook his head. "No. But I believe it exists!"

"From what I've observed, zombies attack places with lots of people. But in our shelter, there's only nine of us, and we rarely go out. So why did the horde come to us?"

Steven gave a knowing smile.

He stared at Otha and said slowly, "Zombies pick their targets, which means someone is deliberately targeting our five factions!"

Otha looked at Steven and then laughed, "You are indeed very smart!"

Steven shook his head. "It's not really wisdom, just a bit of cleverness that's kept me alive in this apocalypse."

Otha had already formed some opinions of his own.

Although Steven's method couldn't solve the problem fundamentally, it could maintain stability in some areas.

But it needed to be used carefully. Otherwise, forcing all the zombies out would cause a complete outbreak in Starlight City, which would be overwhelming without proper preparation.

And they still needed more intel. Only by understanding what the so-called Zombie King really was and where it was hiding could they carry out a decapitation strike.

"You have great potential. I guess you might be a Level 4 Psychic. Would you consider leaving this small place and heading to Silvercrest District?" Otha extended an invitation to Steven.

Steven was intrigued by the concept of Supernatural ability levels that Otha mentioned.

"Wait a minute, did you just say Level 4? What does that mean?"

Otha realized that Steven didn't understand these professional terms about Psychics.

He chuckled. "It's not a secret; I can explain it to you."

He asked Steven, "When do you think Psychics first appeared?"

Steven answered almost without hesitation, "After gamma rays swept over the Earth and the Ice Age arrived."

"Wrong!" Otha directly refuted Steven's words.

"Human mutation has existed since ancient times!"

"From an evolutionary perspective, all living beings have always been mutating; it's inevitable."

"Beneficial mutations give individuals stronger survival abilities, increasing their chances of mating and passing on these mutations to their offspring."

"Take us humans, for example. Modern humans and our ancestors from millions of years ago are almost like two different species!"

"Throughout history, there have always been individuals with special abilities among humans."

"People with immense strength, those who can exhale smoke, or deformed monsters with three heads and six arms. They all count as Psychics!"

Otha took a sip of water and continued with a serious expression, "Psychics have existed since ancient times! It's just that we've never seen such widespread mutations as we do today!"

"Due to external stimuli, the genetic sequences of entire groups have been altered, resulting in countless Psychics!"

"But research on human mutation has been ongoing in countries around the world for a long time."

"Therefore, the classification and levels of Psychics have long existed."

Steven crossed his arms. "I have some understanding of the six categories of Psychics. But how are the levels of Psychics divided?"

Otha explained, "Currently, there is a global standard for classifying Psychics."

"Initially, there's the Alpha level, also known as Level 1. Psychics at this level have weak Supernatural abilities and no growth potential. They only exhibit a portion of extraordinary power. These Psychics are just slightly stronger than ordinary people."

"Next is Beta, Level 2. Their abilities are stronger than Level 1, possessing the strength of top-tier elite warriors, but still with limited growth potential."

"Then comes Gamma, Level 3. At this level, Psychics already possess relatively strong extraordinary powers."

"Either they have Supernatural abilities that can fend off hundreds of people, or they have extremely powerful auxiliary abilities."

At this point, Steven thought of a few people around him.

Henry and Earl probably belonged to the Level 3 category of Psychics; their abilities could each match hundreds of warriors.

"And then?" Steven asked curiously.

Otha continued, "Next is the truly extraordinary!"

"Delta, Level 4! The most notable feature of this level is the ability to absorb the energy of other Psychics to evolve!"

Steven was shocked.

A question that had puzzled him for a long time was finally answered.

No wonder he, Fluffy, and Lily could absorb others' Supernatural abilities, but Henry and Earl could not.

Otha said, "Level 4 Psychics may not necessarily exhibit powers stronger than the previous levels, but they can continue to evolve until they reach a peak. Therefore, they are considered to have high potential!"

"Currently, it's preliminarily judged that you and the leaders of various factions are at this level."

Steven silently repeated the word "Delta" in his mind.

Otha's assessment of his Supernatural ability level as a Level 4 Psychic was already a very high evaluation.

"Next is the highest level currently known, Epsilon, Level 5."

When Otha mentioned this, his tone became serious.

"This is currently the strongest combat power in the world. Besides being able to devour other Psychics' Supernatural Energy, they also possess extremely terrifying Supernatural Energy intensity."

"Each Psychic at this level is considered a national treasure!"

Steven stared at Otha and couldn't help but ask, "Are you a Level 5?"

Otha's ability to kill thousands of zombies with one strike still left Steven in awe.

Otha smiled faintly but slowly shook his head. "No, I'm just a Level 4."

Steven couldn't help but take a deep breath. "If even you are just a Level 4, I can hardly imagine how powerful a Level 5 Psychic must be!"
