Chapter 173 Going to the New Home

Steven pulled Elinor into the car, then they waved goodbye to Henry and Emilia.

In the past, he was reluctant to use the car, partly to save fuel.

This type of large snowmobile consumed an astonishing amount of fuel.

Driving a snowmobile on snow was completely different from driving on flat ground.

Additionally, it was more convenient to ride a motorcycle when he went out alone every day.

But from now on, he would hardly go out unless necessary, so there was no need to be so stingy.

After Steven and Elinor left, Henry glanced at Emilia beside him, his eyes full of eager light.

His gaze even made her feel a bit embarrassed.

"Let's go back and rest! It's pretty cold outside." Henry rubbed his hands and smiled.

Emilia nodded. Now she had no other choice but to live peacefully with him.

But after just one day, she no longer had any feelings of dissatisfaction.

Henry had awakened the ability to strengthen his physique; he seemed to have endless energy.

A woman's sexual desire in middle age would get stronger.

So even Emilia, in her forties, was thoroughly conquered by him.

From then on, she followed him wholeheartedly without any second thoughts.

"You can't judge a person by their appearance alone; you have to dig deeper and deeper before making a judgment." Emilia later liked to share this kind of experience with other women.

Steven drove the car, taking Elinor back.

Along the way, Elinor eagerly took in the sights beyond the confines of the community she had known for so long.

Having spent most of her life within the boundaries of the fourth floor of the building, this journey presented her with a newfound sense of exploration and discovery.

Now that she could go out, her mood became much more cheerful. She looked left and right, eager to take in all the scenery.

But soon, a look of disappointment appeared in her eyes.

Because in the vast world, only ice and snow were the eternal constants.

The traces of human civilization were just some steel and concrete, with no bustling streets.

"Steven, is our new home beautiful?" she asked.

Elinor could only place her hopes on the new residence.

Steven smiled slightly. "It's very big and beautiful. It's much more comfortable than the house we lived in before."

Elinor's eyes lit up. "No wonder you could be so generous! I thought, given your character, it was impossible for you to give away the safe house you put so much effort into."

Steven corrected her. "It's not giving away, just lending it to them temporarily. If we need it someday, it will still come back to us."

He still had the highest authority and the key to the safe house.

As long as he wanted, he could take back the safe house at any time.

It wasn't that he didn't trust Henry, but in the apocalypse, it's okay to have a harmful heart, but you must have a defensive heart.

People were fickle, so Steven had to be prepared for everything.

"By the way, there's an extra person at home now. I'm telling you in advance, so you can be mentally prepared." Steven said calmly.

A hint of suspicion flashed in Elinor's eyes. "An extra person?"

"I get it!" She giggled, "Is it the original owner of that house?"

"No, I killed him." Thinking of this, Steven suddenly stopped the car by the roadside.

'Damn, if she hadn't mentioned it, I would have forgotten to throw out those corpses.'

Elinor didn't know what Steven was going to do.

Seeing Steven get out of the car, she tightened her clothes and followed him.

She saw Steven take out a pile of corpses from the extradimensional space and throw them into the ditch along the roadside slope.

These corpses included some prostitutes who died in the shelter and three bodies of Brock, Benjamin, and Frank.

Elinor immediately recognized the three of them, her eyes widening in surprise. "The house you mentioned is Brock's villa?"

"Yeah, is there a problem?" Steven habitually clapped his hands and looked back at her.

Elinor sighed and shook her head, "Nothing, just that it's hard to believe someone as once-glorious as him died so easily."

Steven sneered indifferently. "It's the apocalypse; human life is cheap. Everyone dies coldly. Don't be sad; as long as we can live, that's all that matters. We can't care about others!"

Steven threw the corpses by the roadside, and soon they would be covered by snow.

He got back in the car, and Elinor followed.

"The person you left behind is one of his women?" Elinor stared at Steven, and a jealous atmosphere began to fill the car.

Steven saw her pouting through the rearview mirror and found it particularly cute.

When he first met her, she was still that aloof female doctor.

But now that their relationship had deepened, she had developed a strong dependence on Steven, turning into a jealous little girl.

'Women are truly fascinating creatures,' he thought.

"Don't overthink it. The house is quite big, and I was worried you couldn't handle all the work alone. I just found someone to help share the load," he replied.

Elinor pouted, her soft blonde hair falling along her collarbone, creating an image of a forlorn little girl.

Steven felt a sense of affection.

So, he smiled and said, "Don't be upset! She's just a tool. The one I love most is you!"

"My feelings for you are as high as a mountain! She can't compare to you."

Elinor's pout slowly disappeared. She looked at Steven and asked, "Is that true?"

Steven nodded decisively. "Of course, it's true! Think about it, you're young and beautiful, and you became an attending physician at a big hospital at such a young age."

"How could I not like you? You are such a wonderful girl," he added.

Steven had an exceptional gift of gab, so he could charm Elinor with sweet nothings effortlessly.

Perhaps after being deceived by Alice, he lost that sense of awe for beautiful women.

Without the burden of morality, he was naturally calm and composed.

So, when pursuing a girl, he must not be humble; he needed to show enough confidence.

Only then could he attract them.

As the lyrics in Adele's song said, "You had my heart inside of your hand, And you played it to the beat." Girls didn't tend to value those who came to them easily.

Elinor bit her lip, feeling very pleased with Steven's words.

Despite being a medical PhD, she was a blank slate in matters of the heart.

In the apocalypse, the attachment caused by the suspension bridge effect made her completely fall in love with this dangerous and powerful man beside her.

She hugged his arm and gently rested her head on his shoulder.

"I knew you liked me!" Her sweet face was full of happiness.

Steven glanced at her, feeling slightly touched.

She looked just like his once-innocent self.

Steven couldn't help but ask himself if living so selfishly was right.

But he quickly let it go.

If being selfish made him happier, why not do it?

At the very least, he had never wronged Elinor, so he shouldn't be considered a scumbag, right?
