Chapter 183 Setting the Trap

Elinor rested her chin in her hand and said puzzledly, "But wouldn't this make people even more suspicious?"

Nora also frowned slightly, "Yeah. Blowing up this topic all of a sudden is bound to attract attention, right?"

Steven took a bite of pizza and said calmly, "Attracting attention is something we can't avoid. Whether I post this information or not, Dawson is definitely going to."

"So, by spreading these smokescreens, we can confuse the public. With so much information, I don't believe anyone has the energy to verify each piece nowadays."

He sipped his soup. "Moreover, compared to the major organizations and big companies in Starlight City that I've mentioned in these messages, the chance of me acting alone is the least likely."

Nora's eyes lit up as she looked at Steven and said, "Indeed, what you're doing is really smart!"

She reminisced. "It's like in our entertainment industry. One minute a scandal can rock the headlines, but it will be forgotten the moment a bigger star trips and falls from grace.""

She leaned on the table, her small hands propping up her chin, naturally highlighting her impressive bust line, revealing a large expanse of skin and a deep cleavage.

She looked at Steven's profile, a hint of admiration in her eyes.

It seemed the man in front of her was not just handsome and capable; he was also very smart!

At this moment, Elinor, engrossed in the information on her phone, suddenly tilted her head and said, "But all this information was sent from your computer. If someone can trace the IP address, wouldn't they find you immediately?"

Nora's expression changed subtly.

That's right. All the information, whether Steven sent it anonymously or from multiple accounts, had a unique IP address.

If they encountered someone or an organization with information-tracking capabilities, they could easily trace it back to Steven.

By then, he would become the prime suspect!

Steven's face remained impassive as he continued to drink his soup.

Elinor sensed the atmosphere was off and quickly apologized. "I didn't mean it like that! After all, there probably aren't many people left alive in Starlight City. Even fewer would understand how to monitor or track network IPs."

She continued, "So, Steven, your approach is still very successful!"

Steven took a sip of soup, casually picked up a piece of pizza, and took a big bite.

While chewing, he said calmly, "Unless the world completely reverts to a primitive society, or we live like cavemen, it's impossible to completely hide our tracks."

He went on. "I never hoped to completely fool everyone. But doing this at least ensures that most people won't directly suspect me."

"And for those organizations with strong network capabilities, it's inevitable that I'll come into contact with them." Steven had long accepted this reality.

Even in the apocalypse, network communication still existed for the authorities to easily find someone.

If it weren't for Dawson's unexpected appearance, Steven thought he could have at least a year or so of peace.

He didn't expect his calm life to be disrupted in less than half a month.

He had no regrets about this action. He didn't like the feeling of being blackmailed, so killing Dawson was something he had to do.

"Moreover, although I hate having my location discovered, with this shelter, no one can threaten our safety unless an organization with top-tier armed forces comes," he added.

His greatest reliance lies in his combat skills, an almost inexhaustible supply of food, and a billion-dollar shelter that's touted as being nuclear-bomb proof.

Seeing Steven's calm demeanor, Elinor and Nora felt as if they had found a pillar of support.

No matter how smart they were, women were still women.

Most women in this world tended to rely on men in times of crisis, except for a few strong women.

"Your words put us at ease!" Nora patted her ample chest and said joyfully.

Steven glanced at her with a smile. "Don't be too happy just yet! Although I'm confident in defending this home, you can't just sit around!"

Nora blushed, lightly biting her lip, hinting to Steven that there were others around.

Steven was a bit speechless.

He thought, 'Is that all you can think about right now?'

Nora felt wronged.

Besides doing housework, she really couldn't help Steven with anything else.

Steven raised his hand and flicked her smooth forehead. "You need to help me set up traps!"

She covered her forehead and gave Steven a reproachful look.

She and Elinor looked at Steven in confusion. "Traps?"

Steven nodded, "The defense of this house is extremely impressive. It was built to withstand nuclear war or large-scale natural disasters."

He continued, "But it doesn't consider human threats thoroughly enough, given the Astralium Kingdom's strict weapon control. So, the shelter doesn't have adequate counter-attack weapons."

"I plan to set up a tight network of traps around the shelter." A cold gleam flashed in his eyes. He added, "If anyone dares to target us, we'll make sure they never return!"

Elinor immediately nodded and said, "Steven, just tell me what I can do to help!"

Since Nora's arrival, she had developed a sense of urgency. So, she was more proactive in helping Steven with things.

Nora also quickly said, "I don't know much about traps. But I'll do whatever tasks you assign me!"

Steven nodded, "Alright."

He immediately took out a large pile of items from the extradimensional space, mostly hardware products.

He dumped them on the ground.

Over a dozen boxes overflowed with steel nails, each one wickedly long, glinting like predatory teeth in the dim light!

There were also ropes, steel wires, animal traps, and more.

These items dazzled the two women.

Steven picked up an 8-inch steel nail from the ground and said to them, "Traps set in this snow are the hardest to detect!"

"Next, I'll show you how to do it. You need to listen carefully, especially remembering the locations when setting the traps."

"Otherwise, if we go out one day and get hurt by our own traps, that would be really unlucky!"
