Chapter 106 The Bitch

Nathaniel was stunned for a moment, and Chelsea, who was in the passenger seat, spoke again, "Nathaniel, save me..."

Without further hesitation, Nathaniel took off his suit jacket and wrapped Chelsea in it before carrying her out of the car.

Aurelia was shivering all over, watching him run through the rain curtain with Chelsea in his arms as if his life depended on it. He must have been so anxious that he didn't even have time to retrieve his phone, which had fallen into the water.

A joke Chelsea made at the golf course had come true so quickly. He had indeed left her alone on the road without a word of comfort.

Aurelia felt completely drained, even lacking the strength to cry.

She forced herself to put herself together and called Amber. Where she was wasn't far away from Amber's hospital.

Amber arrived quickly, at the sight of whom Aurelia finally closed her eyes in relief and fainted.

When she woke up, all she saw were white walls, and the air was scented with disinfectant.

"Aurelia, you're finally awake?" Amber's face loomed in front of her. Aurelia suddenly remembered what had happened before she fainted. She anxiously gripped the blanket. "Amber, is my baby okay?"

Amber hurriedly reassured her, "The baby is doing well. You fainted due to excessive fright and a bit of low blood sugar. I've checked you; the baby's heartbeat is strong. Don't worry."

Aurelia's tense nerves relaxed, and only then did she notice that her limbs were weak and she couldn't exert any strength.

"Amber, I feel so weak."

Amber gently massaged her arm under the blanket. "You were excessively frightened, and your body hasn't fully recovered. Let me help you. Also, there were numerous calls, and your phone has died. I have it charged, and you may call your family now."

Saying this, she handed Aurelia her phone.

Aurelia struggled to reach out, pressed the power button, and saw a long list of missed calls. She scrolled through but couldn't reach the end; they were all calls from the same strange number.

As she tried to recall the number that looked familiar, the phone rang again. Aurelia slid to answer the call.

"Ms. Semona, are you okay? I saw your car..."

Caleb chatted with Ashley in the car for a while before leaving. By the time traffic eased up, he had caught up to Nathaniel's car, only to find Nathaniel's limited edition Bentley being towed away, with no sign of the occupants and visible signs of a collision on the vehicle.

Ashley tried calling Nathaniel but got no answer.

Caleb kept calling Aurelia, and although Nathaniel had forced him to delete the number that morning, his memory was good, and he dialed based on his remaining recollection.

When Aurelia heard it was Caleb, she was a bit surprised. "Mr. Sinclair, didn't you delete my cell? The car was hit on the road, but I'm safe with a friend. Nathaniel had taken Chelsea to the hospital."

Caleb paused for a moment. "As long as you're safe." He didn't care about that woman.

After the call, Ashley was eager to know their situation. "How are they? Where's my brother? Why didn't he and Chelsea answer?"

Caleb placed the phone on the console and started the car back to town, casually replying, "How would I know why they're not answering? He wasn't with Aurelia. Your brother had run away with Chelsea."

Ashley was extremely anxious. "Tell me, where is my brother? I heard you mention him on the phone."

Caleb hesitated before repeating what Aurelia said, "Your brother took Chelsea to the hospital."

As they had driven a few hundred yards, Ashley keenly spotted a phone left in a puddle ahead. "Stop, that looks like my brother's phone on the ground."

Caleb halted the car, and Ashley got out with an umbrella. The phone, indeed, belonged to her brother, and the fact that he had even lost his phone indicated the urgency of the situation at the time.

"I have to find my brother. Will you come with me? If there's an emergency and he needs help, he must be desperate without his phone," Ashley urged.

Caleb didn't like Chelsea, but leaving a young girl in the rain wasn't what he could do. He parked the car by the roadside first.

"Ashley, we need to know where to look first. We can't reach Nathaniel now since his phone is dead," Caleb reasoned.

"Don't worry. I'll call Chelsea again," Ashley suggested.

Caleb thought to himself, 'I'm not worried at all.'

Ashley repeatedly called Chelsea, but there was no answer at all.

"Should we go to the nearby hospital and look for them? Nathaniel dropped his phone and left the car there, even missing the ambulance. They must have gone to a nearby hospital in an emergency," Ashley proposed.

Caleb thought, 'I'm sure my Aurelia is safe, so I can relax. That woman has nothing to do with me; she's such a hypocrite and appears not easy to get along with.'

Ashley was so worried, directing Caleb to drive around, eventually arriving at the hospital two hours later.

Caleb was on the verge of collapse. Ashley couldn't read a map. He had been driving in circles on the same street, going back and forth.

Finally, two of them managed to find a small hospital and went in to try their luck.

Thankfully, the rain had stopped, so they didn't need to share an umbrella.

Caleb parked the car and followed Ashley into the building. Ashley grabbed a nurse and asked eagerly, "Miss, did a very good-looking couple come here at noon?"

The nurse was confused by her question since she didn't describe any distinctive features of the patients. With so many people coming in and out of the hospital, no one would remember a single couple.

Shaking her head, the nurse indicated that she had no idea.

Ashley anxiously gestured while asking, "I mean, the man is this tall, handsome, and the girl is about this height."

Listening to this, Caleb felt impatient and added, "The man is wearing a dark shirt and pants, with a luxury watch on his wrist. The woman is in a white dress with long curly hair, not very attractive, and they might have been caught in the rain."

With Caleb's description, the nurse recalled. "Was the girl having heart problems?"

Ashley nodded, "Yes, where are they now?"

"They're in the cardiology department, which you can see on the third floor," the nurse replied.

Excited, Ashley said, "Thank you." She grabbed Caleb's hand and ran towards the third floor, chatting with him about what Caleb had said earlier on the way.

"Caleb, why did you say Chelsea isn't attractive? She's so pretty, a hundred times better than Aurelia."

As there was no elevator in the hospital, they had to climb up the old, creaky stairs, and the hallway windows were leaking water due to a sudden downpour at noon.

Caleb grudgingly climbed the stairs, and when Ashley made that comment, he became reluctant. He had been forced to help her find her brother, and now she was speaking ill of Aurelia. That was something he didn't bear to hear!

"Why don't you get an eye check-up while you're at it?" Caleb suggested.

Ashley didn't catch on. "Why should I?"

"To check your vision since you can't see Aurelia's beauty," Caleb retorted.

Ashley was taken aback. "Do you really think Aurelia is prettier than Chelsea? Let me tell you, no badmouthing Chelsea is allowed. She's my future sister-in-law, and we'll be family."

Can't win me back
