Chapter 41 Wishing You Eternal Happiness
Chelsea snorted. "Don't worry. I'll give it to you. A broken chain that no one would even pick up from the street, yet you treasure it so much."
"Chelsea, I'm warning you again. My mother is my off-limits. If you dare to say anything bad about her or her things, don't blame me for being impolite."
Chelsea found it amusing, unable to hold back her laughter. In her mind, Aurelia was someone she could easily manipulate.
"You're quite amusing. Do you think I would be afraid of you?"
Aurelia looked up and saw Nathaniel walking out of the hall. Chelsea also noticed his approach. She immediately put on a friendly smile and intimately linked her arm with Aurelia's. "Aurelia, my birthday wish this year is to celebrate with you. Can you fulfill my wish?"
Nathaniel walked over. "What are you all doing here? It's time to cut the cake."
Chelsea freed one hand and wrapped it around Nathaniel's arm. From a distance, they looked like a close-knit family.
"Nathaniel, please help me persuade Aurelia. She's about to leave without eating my birthday cake."
Aurelia looked up and saw Nathaniel coldly staring at her. "Do you have anything to attend to? Are you in such a hurry? Is it so difficult to have a piece of cake?"
Chelsea cast a triumphant look at Aurelia, even with a hint of threat.
Aurelia understood Chelsea's gaze. It seemed that if she didn't eat the cake today, she wouldn't get the chain.
"Then I'll eat it." Aurelia pulled her arm away and headed back to the hall. She felt disgusted.
Chelsea and Nathaniel followed behind her. Aurelia could clearly hear their footsteps and their intimate conversation.
"Nathaniel, I want to have cuisine. Will you accompany me later?"
"This hotel can prepare any meal. We can order it and have it delivered."
"But I have something I want to discuss with you privately. It is about something you mentioned to me the day before yesterday. It's not convenient to talk here, right?"
"Alright, then, you quickly finish this gathering."
"It's not easy for me to come back and celebrate my birthday. Don't rush me."
Aurelia took a few quick steps, distancing herself from them. She couldn't bear to hear them flirting beside her, as it was a form of mental torture for her.
In the hall, everyone gathered around the five-tiered birthday cake, waiting for Chelsea to cut it.
Aurelia stood in the crowd, avoiding attracting Chelsea’s attention. Her mind filled with Chelsea and Nathaniel's conversation. She even imagined Chelsea intimately leaning on Nathaniel's arm while he looked at Chelsea affectionately.
Chelsea and Nathaniel were still talking about something. They were conversing intimately, like a couple in love.
Finally, they finished their conversation. They walked towards the crowd, and everyone immediately made way for them.
Chelsea was the center of attention that day. One of her colleagues helped her put on a birthday hat.
Someone turned off the lights, and suddenly, the hall was plunged into darkness.
Candles were lit, and everyone in the hall started singing "Happy Birthday," creating an atmosphere of joy.
Chelsea made a wish amidst the chorus of blessings. Happiness, coupled with the reflection of the flames of the twenty-three candles glittered in her eyes. Aurelia had always longed for such a happy birthday party.
Someone curiously asked Chelsea, "Ms. Thompson, what did you wish for?"
Chelsea looked at Nathaniel, her face blushing.
"My wish is to have a grand wedding this year. I want to wear the wedding ring I designed myself and marry the man I've loved for over a decade."
The crowd reacted with excitement. Their gazes toward Chelsea and Nathaniel changed. Nathaniel had always been serious, and his noble status made everyone hesitant to joke about him, but they had filled their minds with guesses.
Aurelia glanced at Nathaniel. He remained expressionless, not expressing his opinion on Chelsea's words.
So, that meant he agreed.
After cutting the cake, everyone lined up to toast Nathaniel and Chelsea.
Amy seemed to have nothing else to do that night and was specifically keeping an eye on Aurelia.
"Aurelia, you haven't toasted with them yet. We've all had two rounds. You should join in, too."
Aurelia hesitated for a moment, then went to the bar and poured herself a glass of juice. She kept reminding herself that she had to get Helen's necklace back no matter what today.
"Mr. Heilbronn, Ms. Thompson, I wish you eternal happiness."
With that, she downed the entire glass of juice in one go.
She was drinking a sweet and sour lemonade, but she could taste the bitterness. She was speaking insincerely, and her heart ached.
Chelsea was pleased with her words. Chelsea leaned her face gently on Nathaniel's arm, smiling brightly, and her white dress made her look like a pure pear blossom.
Nathaniel, however, seemed dissatisfied with this blessing. His originally noble and aloof face became visibly gloomy.
"What do you say?" His aura was overpowering, and his tone was laced with obvious anger, sending a shiver through those nearby.
The people waiting in line to toast silently lowered their heads and moved aside. No one dared to approach them at this moment, as it would only invite their discomfort.
Aurelia was used to his temper and thought, 'Is this all? He's only showing a bit of his anger.'
She smiled and took another glass of juice. "Mr. Heilbronn, since you're not satisfied, let me rephrase it."
Her heart was already broken, but she remained unusually calm. She swept her gaze over Nathaniel and Chelsea's faces, then spoke, "I wish you to have your children soon."
Nathaniel's gaze toward Aurelia became deep. He placed the transparent highball glass on the bar in ager, making a crisp sound.
The hall instantly fell silent. The timid employees didn't even dare to look in their direction, afraid that their curious eyes would be caught, leading to an immediate loss of their jobs.
"Mr. Heilbronn, I have something to discuss with Ms. Thompson. I'd like to borrow your girlfriend for a moment."
Aurelia repeatedly poked at Nathaniel's sore spot. Without waiting for Nathaniel to speak, she pulled Chelsea away, leaving him alone to stew in his anger.
In the stairwell, Chelsea let go of Aurelia's hand. Her eyes widened with anger. "Aurelia, why do you drag me? Don't you see everyone toasting with me?"
Aurelia was no longer patient with her. She just wanted to get her mother's things back. She had said and done what she needed to. What more did Chelsea want?
"Now give me my mother's necklace, or I'll immediately post my marriage certificate in our department's chat group. At worst, Nathaniel would come and get even with me. But before that, there has to be a winner between us."
Chelsea became anxious. She had stolen the spotlight today. She had yet to become the real Mrs. Heilbronn, so she didn't want to be called a third party by the Heilbronn Group employees when she got married in the future.
"Aurelia, you're crazy!"
Chelsea grimaced and uttered a curse. "The necklace is in my desk drawer. You can get it yourself."
Aurelia breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, 'As long as she's willing to return the necklace, it's fine.'
"You should have said so earlier. If you want me to call you Mrs. Heilbronn, you can just say it. I can also call you that in the company as long as he's willing to and you don't mind. I'm tired of being called Mrs. Heilbronn anyway, so I don't mind giving it to you."
After finishing her sentence, Aurelia entered the elevator. Just as she entered, Nathaniel followed.
This disturbance had caused some confusion in their relationship.
Many people could see that Aurelia and Nathaniel were not just acquaintances, and they could also sense the ongoing rivalry between Chelsea and Aurelia, making them feel that the relationship between the three of them was not simple.
It had to be said that women were naturally inclined to gossip. As soon as they left, the other employees quickly formed small groups to discuss.
"Ms. Thompson and Mr. Heilbronn are so well-matched. Could Aurelia be the third party?"
"I'm sure she is. Haven't you noticed that Mr. Heilbronn looks at Aurelia differently than he does at Ms. Thompson? He's much gentler when he looks at Ms. Thompson but cold when he looks at Aurelia."
"I'll whisper this: Although I chose Ms. Thompson, I can't help but feel that in terms of temperament, Aurelia and Mr. Heilbronn look more like a couple."
At the elevator entrance, Nathaniel had a dark expression.
Chelsea cautiously approached, wanting to test him. "Nathaniel, how about singing songs together in a singing bar? Everyone hasn't heard you sing yet."
Nathaniel's patience was wearing thin. He had already used up what little patience he had. He was in a good mood, but Aurelia's words had unsettled him.
'What does Aurelia say today? Her indifferent attitude makes me feel restless,' He thought.
Nathaniel took a step back, leaving enough distance between him and Chelsea.
"Come find me when you finish celebrating your birthday. I'm going back to the company. Remember to call me Mr. Heilbronn in front of the other employees."
Chelsea didn't try to persuade him further. She knew very well that Nathaniel was already giving her dignity by not saying anything harsh.
Today was her birthday, and in the past, no matter how busy he was, Nathaniel would always fly over to spend two days with her. She was convinced that he wouldn't get angry with her today, so she took a further step and directly tricked him over to the party, where she made a show to solidify their relationship in front of the Heilbronn Group employees.
"It slipped my mind as I wasn't in the office. How about I simply address you as Nathaniel from now on? They are aware of it today anyway."
Since the last drunken incident, he promised to give her an explanation, but so far, he hasn't done anything. Chelsea was eager for his actions, but since he hadn't done anything, she had to try her best.
