Chapter 326 Are You Trying to Hit on My Son?
Ashley tilted her chin arrogantly. If Aurelia had been more polite to her earlier, she wouldn't have had to text Nathaniel to come over.
When Nathaniel saw Chelsea in that state, he would undoubtedly feel guilty for her. If he got angry, he might stop giving Ashley her allowance.
Ashley checked her balance. The money she got from Nathaniel last month was already spent, and only a little bit from Beatrice was left. With her friend's birthday coming up, it wouldn't be right for her not to give a decent gift given her status.
Forget it, she thought to herself, ' I'll just butter up Nathaniel later and ask him for more money.'
Nathaniel smoked a cigarette downstairs, while Oscar's messages kept coming in like a relentless ghost.
[Hurry up and back up your wife. There are a few dumb women bullying her here.]
[Damn it, why aren't you here yet? Your wife is being bullied. Do you still want to win her back?]
[Get your brainless sister out of here. Did Chelsea hit her in the head or something?]
Nathaniel glanced at these messages, put his phone away, and walked towards the hotel entrance.
The security guard at the door recognized Nathaniel and didn't dare to stop him, respectfully letting him in.
The hall was filled with people in formal attire. Nathaniel scanned the room and finally fixed his gaze on a white suit in the corner.
He stunned for a moment. Aurelia really had changed quite a lot.
The current Aurelia was capable, shrewd, and confident, exuding the charm of a professional woman. It was something he hadn't noticed before.
During their three-year marriage, he had kept her like a canary at home. She was beautiful, gentle, and virtuous. Nathaniel had thought that a woman like her was best suited to be a trophy wife, using his credit card to shop, arrange flowers, and learn some instruments. Working would be too hard for her, and they didn't lack money.
He hadn't realized that his controlling thoughts had stifled Aurelia.
But now, she seemed happier.
Nathaniel came to his senses and walked towards her with long strides.
His mind were full of Aurelia, so he didn't notice that Chelsea was also in that direction, not far from Aurelia. Seeing Nathaniel approaching, Chelsea's heart skipped a beat.
Nathaniel's appearance was too striking in the crowd, which always making him easy to spot.
Ashley and her friends noticed Nathaniel entering through the main door. One of the girls, brimming with excitement, tapped Ashley on the shoulder and exclaimed,
"Ashley, look, your brother is here."
At this, the others cast worried glances at Aurelia.
"Chelsea is really pitiful, but your brother can stand up for her now. I'm so envious she has such a handsome boyfriend."
Ashley looked over at Aurelia smugly.
"My brother is here. Aren't you planning to hide?"
Aurelia chuckled and said,
"This is my company's annual party. Why should I hide?"
Ridiculous!
Ashley shook her head, thinking Aurelia was brainless.
"Then just watch. When you see my brother and Chelsea showing off their love, don't cry alone in the corner!"
As Nathaniel got closer, Chelsea was just a short distance away.
Ashley raised an eyebrow, even more pleased. Everyone watched Nathaniel walk towards Chelsea, and when they looked at Aurelia, their eyes were filled with pity.
How pitiful.
A woman watching her ex-husband care for another woman right in front of her—how could she bear it? And in front of so many people, how could she face anyone afterward?
All eyes were on Nathaniel as he walked over.
But to everyone's surprise, Nathaniel didn't stop next to Chelsea. In fact, he didn't even glance at her and just walked straight past her.
Everyone paused for a few seconds, then realized that Nathaniel must be eager to deal with the person who bullied his girlfriend, which made them feel even sorrier for Aurelia. A woman being publicly reprimanded by a man—if it were them, they'd want to die.
Nathaniel had no idea he was the center of attention. Everyone was watching him.
He walked over and stood next to Aurelia, a warm smile on his face.
"Aurelia, is everything going well?"
Aurelia smiled slightly and said,
"Not bad. Why are you here?"
Nathaniel's tone was a bit reproachful,
"Why didn't you tell me about such a big event? Do you need any help?"
"Not for now. I'll go straight home after the party."
Nathaniel responded,
"I drove here and I'd like to take you home later. I bought some children's clothes. I don't know what styles the kid likes. You can pick some out."
Aurelia's eyes narrowed as she looked at Nathaniel's handsome face, puzzled. He had been acting strange lately. After giving toys, now he was buying children's clothes. He hated shopping the most.
"I'm not going."
Nathaniel coughed lightly and asked,
"How about bringing Jacob?"
Aurelia's breath hitched, saying,
"Nathaniel, what are you thinking? Are you planning something for my son?"
Nathaniel felt a bit aggrieved. Wasn't he their son together? He hadn't even had a chance to hold him.
"Aurelia, I have something to tell you after the party."
Aurelia glanced at her watch. She didn't know how late it would be when the party ended. She was worried Jacob might watch too much TV at home. Lately, he had been either tinkering with robots or watching Mickey Mouse. Joe sometimes indulged him and didn't scold him. Watching too much TV was bad for his eyes.
She said directly,
"It'll be too late. Mr. Heilbronn, if you have something to say, just say it here."
Nathaniel looked around at the people nearby,
"Aurelia, It's inconvenient to discuss our personal matters here."
Aurelia didn't respond.
Their conversation wasn't loud, but the curious onlookers were highly focused, catching every word.
At this point, Ashley's face turned green.
She didn't know Aurelia had a baby in the past few years. Is this the bastard child she had with someone?
What was most infuriating was that even knowing she had a child with another man, Nathaniel was still willing to humor her. Look at that tone—he wasn't even that gentle with their parents at home.
Ashley was fuming, but her friend was still discussing,
"Ashley, what did your brother mean just now? Could it be that he likes this Aurelia?"
