Chapter 107 Misaligned Perspectives
Caleb immediately stopped. "Seriously?"
Ashley raised her chin proudly and said, "She was my brother's first love. My brother and Aurelia will eventually divorce. My sister-in-law should be a dignified woman like Chelsea instead of that useless Aurelia who doesn't deserve it."
Caleb suddenly acknowledged this explosive news. He had seen Chelsea speaking ambiguously to Nathaniel and had been suspicious, but he had not expected the Heilbronn family to have such low morals. He thought, 'It is unfair to my goddess, Aurelia, isn't it?'
That woman knew Nathaniel was married but still tried to seduce him. The Heilbronn siblings even accepted her and treated her as a friend. What they did made Caleb's mind unable to think clearly. He realized that this marriage must be called off since he and their family had so different values!
The values of this family were abnormal, and his so-called fiancée was rude and lacked manners, not to mention being directionally challenged and having other issues. He couldn't believe that his goddess, such a good girl, had encountered such a weird family. It pained him to think about it.
"Since I've helped you find your brother, you can go up by yourself. I have to go now."
He couldn't bear the thought of going upstairs after knowing the truth, seeing Nathaniel dote on that despicable Chelsea.
Caleb wanted to escape from this place immediately.
Ashley called out to him a few times from behind, but Caleb didn't turn back. He left the hospital building directly and drove towards the city.
Caleb pondered how to handle this matter without causing a rift between the two families. His father was a proud man, and he had begged him to hold the marriage matters. If he now asked him to break off the engagement, the stubborn man would surely disagree.
This situation was truly troubling Caleb, and the more he thought about it, the more confused he became.
Ashley climbed to the third floor, panting since she hadn't climbed stairs in years.
Nathaniel and Chelsea were sitting on a bench, with Nathaniel leaning against the wall and Chelsea resting in his arms. Chelsea had a neck brace on, which looked quite scary.
"Nathaniel, Chelsea, I finally found you. Chelsea, what's wrong with your neck? Is it broken?"
Upon hearing Ashley's voice, Chelsea silently cursed. 'Why is she here now? She always shows up when she shouldn't and is absent when she should.'
Nathaniel seemed to see a helper in Ashley. "Ashley, come help support Chelsea for a while. Give me your card; I'll go pay the fees."
Ashley licked her lips, "Haven't you paid yet? This hospital is quite ethical, treating you first and asking for payment later."
Her brother had never worried about money in his life. Today was a first.
"My wallet was in the car, and I lost my phone. You came at the right time; stop talking and come help support."
Nathaniel beckoned Ashley over as Chelsea whispered, "It hurts..."
Ashley hurried over, supporting Chelsea's head, while Nathaniel slowly maneuvered out of the situation. His legs had gone numb from the pressure.
He extricated himself and took out a card from Ashley's bag to go pay on the ground floor, Leaving Chelsea and Ashley on the third floor.
"Chelsea, are you okay? I was so worried when I saw your car. I thought I'd never see you again. I searched nearby for hours and was getting frantic."
Chelsea sighed, "It's not that serious. My heart condition has improved. I pretended it was serious since I didn't want him to go to Aurelia. Keep this a secret for me."
Ashley breathed a sigh of relief. "I understand. But when did your heart condition improve?"
"I had a heart transplant abroad. It's a long story, and it's fate with Aurelia. I can't tell you all the details; you tend to blab and might accidentally let it slip."
Ashley's mind was straightforward, unlike Chelsea's, who had many thoughts. "I'm glad you're better. My brother will be thrilled. Let's celebrate with a dinner party later."
Chelsea sweated, "Miss, don't say anything in front of your brother. I had pretended several heart attacks in front of him. If you tell him I recovered abroad, he will surely blame me!"
Ashley immediately covered her mouth. "Right, it's a secret."
Then she praised Chelsea, "Chelsea, you're so clever. I couldn't have thought of such a good plan. If I ever pursue my crush, I'll ask you for advice!"
"Don't worry. I can handle any man. I guarantee he'll fall for you."
Nathaniel finished paying and came upstairs just in time to hear Chelsea say this. He immediately felt disgusted. Ashley saw him first. "Nathaniel, is it done?"
Nathaniel put the card back in Ashley's bag, then took her phone to dial a number, unlocking it with her face.
"Why are you taking my phone?"
"I'm calling your sister-in-law."
He was extremely worried now. After carrying Chelsea away, he didn't know how Aurelia was doing. With his phone lost, he couldn't even make a call. He managed to borrow a nurse's phone and tried calling once, but there was no answer.
He anxiously held onto the phone, waiting for a response, but all he heard was the robotic voice. He didn't give up and kept calling.
On the other side, Aurelia was lying in Amber's resting room. She wasn't seriously injured and didn't need medication or stay in the hospital. She was still recovering from the shock.
When Aurelia saw Ashley's call, she didn't bother to answer since she was fed up with the Heilbronn family. She silenced her phone, placed it on the bed, and then fell into a deep sleep.
Nathaniel couldn't reach Aurelia on the phone, feeling a sense of disappointment.
"Are you sure no one was in the car when you caught up?"
Ashley nodded.
"The ambulance didn't pick up anyone, did it?"
Ashley nodded again, "Don't worry. Aurelia is tough. Right now, you should be more concerned about the injured person in front of you, Chelsea, who is in a critical condition."
Chelsea weakly let out a deep sigh.
Nathaniel called Zack again to confirm where he was.
Shortly after, Zack arrived with an ambulance, and they lifted Chelsea onto the stretcher. Nathaniel got into the ambulance with her.
Ashley, feeling like she had completed a task, got into Zack's car and was in a good mood.
The hospital nurses saw Chelsea being loaded into the ambulance and transferred to a higher-level hospital for treatment.
A few girls gossiped among themselves. "This hospital must have some magic. She had almost recovered by the time they arrived, and now they're transferring her to a higher-level hospital. What a waste of medical resources!"
"I think that man looks a bit like the CEO of the Heilbronn Group."
"No way, the CEO of the Heilbronn Group always has many people around him wherever he goes. Look at him; he can't even pay the medical expenses. He's just a good-looking guy."
"Maybe the woman is pretending to be pitiful to win her boyfriend's sympathy. After all, no one would want to let go of such a cute guy. If it were me, I would also try anything to keep him devoted to me."
"But she wasn't injured except for twisting her neck. When she came in, she claimed to have a heart attack and even rushed into the emergency room. However, the truth is that her heart was beating stronger than mine. She begged Dr. Amelia Hawthorne to keep it a secret, but I think Dr. Amelia Hawthorne is just too kind. I find women who lie like this annoying and despicable."
"Let's get back to work; this has nothing to do with us."
