Chapter 116 Mrs. Heilbronn Promises to Come Back
These past few days have been a mess.
The highly anticipated piece, which was about to be launched, turned out to be a case of plagiarism. The employees of the entire company had dedicated a lot of time and effort to the release of this jewelry piece. Moreover, the news about this major event was released last month, and the entire industry was eagerly anticipating the visual feast that the Heilbronn Group was going to present. Fashionistas from all walks of life had prepared their wallets, eagerly waiting to purchase the first batch of products.
Now, with this incident, the announcement of the press conference and the celebration banquet had to be canceled.
The Heilbronn Group lost all credibility in the industry.
In the short term, they could only find an unfinished piece within the company to replace it, among which the most outstanding piece was the bracelet designed by Aurelia, which had won in a recent competition.
Even though they were giving each other the silent treatment, Nathaniel had to admit that Aurelia could solve his current dilemma.
After some mental preparation, he called her.
He was thinking about how to maintain his authority while convincing the woman to come back on her own.
As the phone rang in his ear, he anxiously waited. Suddenly, the ringing stopped, and a robotic voice came from his phone.
Aurelia had hung up on him!
Nathaniel thought he had truly spoiled her!
He threw his phone onto the table, making a crisp sound.
Zack stood by, feeling sorry for the phone.
The previous phone had been water damaged, and this one had been treated so violently by its owner within a week of purchase.
Nathaniel closed his eyes for a moment and instructed Zack, "Get Ms. Rodriguez from HR."
Luna received the order promptly. She had been working in the Heilbronn Group's HR department for eight years and had visited the CEO's office five times, four of which had occurred after the boss's wife joined the company. Generally, matters were handled by the CEO's assistant.
When the CEO suddenly called her, she was uncertain what it was for. Seeing Zack's troubled expression outside the CEO's office, she decided to probe first.
"Zack, do you know why Mr. Heilbronn wants to see me?"
Zack lowered his voice. "It's about a personnel matter. Be careful; Mr. Heilbronn is in a bad mood."
Luna understood and made an 'OK' gesture. Dealing with various people every day, she was adept at reading between the lines. She must play smart to maintain her position in the HR department.
After a brief discussion outside, the two entered the room together.
"Mr. Heilbronn, did you call for me?"
In front of Nathaniel was a laptop displaying Aurelia's resignation email.
"Whether an employee joins or leaves the Heilbronn Group, it must be approved by the HR manager. Someone has been absent without reason for three days. Are you on this?"
Luna perked up, realizing that Nathaniel was holding her accountable. If what he said was true and someone had been absent for three days without being noticed, it was her negligence as the HR manager. She would have to check the attendance records when she returned.
But she needed to deal with this test first. She couldn't figure out which employee would dare be absent for three days. The Heilbronn Group clearly stated that employees were not allowed to be absent from work without reason. If an employee was absent for more than five working days, the company had the right to terminate the employment contract unilaterally without compensation.
Who was being so audacious?
"Mr. Heilbronn, which department's employee has been absent?"
Nathaniel's gaze shifted from the email to the sender at the top, and he said slowly, "Aurelia from the Design Department."
Luna was puzzled. "Mrs. Heilbronn?"
Nathaniel lightly tapped the desk with his fingers, his displeasure evident in his eyes.
"In the company culture, we address people directly by their names."
Luna immediately responded, acknowledging her mistake.
She pondered that the CEO's unpleasant expression must be due to a quarrel with his wife. Her mind was sharp, and she quickly understood that Aurelia had probably left home, and the CEO had brought her in to call his wife back.
She thoguht, 'I see. Mr. Heilbronn couldn't swallow his pride to ask for help, so he had medo the job!'
"Mr. Heilbronn, don't worry. I will immediately call Mrs... I mean, Aurelia and ask why she has been absent."
In Silvershore Falls.
Aurelia was tending to the flowers and plants in the villa's yard. A few housekeepers had well-maintained the yard, which was filled with fresh vegetables and fruits, and even the flowers were blooming beautifully.
When her phone rang, she initially thought it was Nathaniel and didn't want to answer. However, the call was from Luna, so she wiped her hands and answered.
"Aurelia, you haven't clocked in for three days, nor have you asked for leave. Please come back and explain within a day..."
As Luna spoke, she saw a glance from Nathaniel and quickly changed her tone, "I mean... within an hour."
Aurelia, holding a freshly picked tomato, was puzzled. "Ms. Rodriguez, I have already resigned."
Luna's eyes showed a hint of surprise. She glanced at Nathaniel and immediately reacted, "Aurelia, the HR department manages all personnel matters, but I have not received your resignation report. Your resignation does not comply with the company's regulations. Even if you resign, there is a process to follow. After submitting a resignation report to your supervisor, there is usually a one-month handover period, during which you must fully transfer your projects to other colleagues before leaving."
Aurelia was stunned on the other end. She should have paid more attention to the company regulations. Did she have to wait a whole month after resigning before leaving?
Aurelia said, "Ms. Rodriguez, I am not in Imperick right now. Even if I leave now, I can not reach the company within an hour."
Clearing her throat, Luna said, "In any case, please return as soon as possible. I am only following company regulations, and I hope you understand."
Implicit in her words was the fact that Luna was also under pressure; the company's rules were the CEO's rules.
Luna didn't dare to be too assertive in her words. After all, on the other end of the phone was the CEO's wife. She had acted as the villain, so she was afraid that Aurelia might retaliate against her if Aurelia reconciled with Nathaniel later.
"Alright, sorry for your trouble," Aurelia said.
After hanging up, Luna felt relieved. She turned to Nathaniel, who seemed a bit more relaxed. Luna thought to herself that calling Aurelia back would be considered a significant accomplishment. She wondered ifshe could have a chance for a salary increase.
She harbored a small hope in her heart.
"Mr. Heilbronn, do you still want me to check Aurelia's attendance?"
She wasn't genuinely asking about attendance. She was hinting to the boss that Aurelia had agreed to return and that shehad achieved a great feat.
Nathaniel closed the email on his computer and said calmly, "That's all right. Well done. You can go back now."
Luna felt a bit disappointed with just a "Well done."
After the problem was solved, Nathaniel instructed Zack, "How is the factory doing?"
Zack replied, "Mr. Heilbronn, the factory is producing at full speed as per our instructions. They will definitely be able to produce the item before the press conference."
Nathaniel nodded, "Customize a dress according to Aurelia's measurements and have it delivered before the celebration banquet."
Zack noted this down. Seeing that Zack showed no sign of leaving, Nathaniel asked, "Anything else?"
"Mr. Heilbronn, the Thompson Group has been performing strongly in the stock market recently, with no positive news, yet the stock price continues to rise and has doubled."
Nathaniel checked the Thompson Group stock on his browser for a while before saying, "Don't bother."
They would wait and see what happened.
