Chapter 149 Pregnant Woman Vitamins Left at Home

Nathaniel gripped the steering wheel with one hand, lost in thought, and almost hit the car in front of him. "Ted, call 911 first, then send me the location. I'll be there right away."

Nathaniel could tell that Ted had lost his composure from the trembling tone on the phone.

Nathaniel didn't dare imagine or inquire further about the situation on the other end. He had to stay calm and focused to deal with it.

Upon receiving the address, he immediately turned the car around and drove towards the location, running several red lights along the way.

The accident area was already cordoned off by the police, with patrol cars and ambulances arriving.

Nathaniel didn't hesitate and went straight in, where he saw several medical staff working to save his grandfather.

Seeing Nathaniel, Ted seemed to find a source of support and cried while holding onto his leg, "Mr. Nathaniel Heilbronn, you finally came. When we made a turn, we collided with a speeding car driven by a drunk driver. Mr. Reed Heilbronn wasn't hit, but he was shocked and fainted. The doctor just mentioned a heart attack, and the situation is critical."

Nathaniel's gaze deepened as he looked at Reed's pale face. Despite his various abilities in the business world, he couldn't be of much help now. He could only place his hope in the medical staff present.

Finally, the doctor performing CPR on his grandfather let out a sigh of relief, his face showing a hint of joy. "He's stabilized! Get him on the ambulance to the hospital immediately and put him on a ventilator!"

Several nurses busied themselves, and Nathaniel followed them onto the ambulance, accompanying his grandfather to the hospital.

Reed's condition stabilized, but he still hadn't regained consciousness.

Nathaniel finally called Aurelia.

At that moment, Aurelia was tossing and turning on an unfamiliar bed. Nathaniel's call sent a shiver down her spine. 'Could he have discovered the box of prenatal multivitamins?'

With a trembling heart, she answered it.

"Grandpa is in the hospital. Can you come over? He will want to see you when he wakes up."

Aurelia's heart clenched. 'Just a few days ago, Reed had been in robust health at the seaside. How had he suddenly ended up in the hospital?'

"Is he okay?" she asked anxiously.

"He was in a car accident on the way back to Imperick and is currently unconscious," Nathaniel replied.

Aurelia's heart ached. She had a deep fear of car accidents, as her mother had left this world due to one. Setting aside her other concerns, Aurelia quickly got up to change clothes and headed out with her car key.

Arriving at the hospital, Reed was still unconscious while Nathaniel was by his bedside.

Aurelia entered the room quietly, and Nathaniel moved the clothes on a nearby chair to make room for her.

After discussing the divorce matter, they hadn't seen each other for several days. At this moment, each held their thoughts.

Every time Aurelia faced him could be the last time. She had moved out of the villa, and Nathaniel hadn't called to inquire about her lately. She guessed that he had accepted her leaving.

"What did the doctor say?" she asked with concern.

"We have to wait for him to wake up. Right now, he's out of danger, but the shock was unberablefor his age. He might need some time to recover after leaving the hospital," Nathaniel explained.

Aurelia felt a pang in her heart and silently prayed for Reed's recovery.

The hospital room fell into an eerie silence.

Nathaniel broke the silence first. "Aurelia..."

He paused and then changed his words, "The share transfer document is ready. After Grandpa improves, come to the company to sign it. Once the stamps are affixed, you can take it with you."

Aurelia never expected the transfer to happen.

"Are you really willing to give me five percent of the shares?" she asked.

Nathaniel's voice was solemn as he replied, "I owe you that."

Aurelia remained silent.

After a moment, Nathaniel asked, "Don't you have anything to say?"

Aurelia glanced at him, then at the weak figure on the hospital bed, and slowly said, "Take care of Grandpa for me. Don't let Chelsea upset him."

Reed didn't like, even detested, Chelsea. Aurelia hadn't explained the divorce to him yet, and it pained her to think that Chelsea might come and aggravate him. Reed needed gentle care and couldn't endure any more stress.

Nathaniel sighed inwardly. He was waiting for her to yield. Nathaniel had made a difficult decision, and if Aurelia showed any sign of giving in, the divorce agreement would be null and void. As for Chelsea, he would think of another way to handle it.

Aurelia's response greatly disappointed him. It seemed she had already decided to leave, and the only tie holding her back was Reed. And his role was to control Chelsea and prevent her from upsetting Reed. She didn't mention anything about being reluctant to leave him.

The seemingly timid and weak woman had no hesitation when faced with such a significant life event.

"Taking care of Grandpa is a given. You can repay the favor yourself. He likes you, regardless of our relationship. He treats you better than me, like you were his granddaughter. When you have time, come back to the Heilbronn Villa to spend time with him. He will be happy to see you."

Aurelia felt a pang in her heart. She had already planned to leave the city in a month and never return. She couldn't repay Reed's kindness, and this debt would forever remain unsettled.

As they chatted, no one noticed Reed's index finger move on the hospital bed.

Tonight, with Reed in critical condition, Nathaniel left Chelsea alone. As he finally had a moment to check his phone, he found dozens of missed calls.

Nathaniel stood up with his phone in hand. "Stay here and watch over him. I need to make a call."

Seeing Chelsea's name on his phone screen, Aurelia felt no ripples in her heart. Since he couldn't completely cut off ties with Chelsea, and she had endured this love triangle to its end, she was no longer attached.

At this moment, she had to be decisive and resolute.

After three years of patience, Aurelia had come to a clear awakening. Forcing themselves together would lead to no good outcome, only endless harm to the two babies in her belly.

This situation without a future made her lose hope in life. She didn't want her children to be involved in such a dreadful existence.

Her two babies were everything, and Aurelia would give up everything to ensure their safety and well-being. Thinking of her children, Aurelia no longer wanted to dwell on grievances, not even investigating her mother's car accident.

She no longer had the energy to handle so many things. Now, she needed to focus on her work, take care of her health, and ensure she ate well every day.

With babes on the way, she often felt her body wasn't as resilient as before, frequently tired and weary. Amber had explicitly advised her to keep herself happy, rest well, and not push herself.

She could only apologize to Penelope and her mother at their graves, knowing she might not be able to visit them regularly in the future.

Placing her hand on Reed's back, tears silently rolled down her cheeks. "Grandpa, I'm sorry."

Can't win me back
