Chapter 210 Settling the Score with Her

Chelsea already realized that he must have found something out. Given his extensive connections, it was no surprise that he knew about this.

She didn't dare touch the phone, but the ringtone kept going off. It kept going and going, each ring sounding like a death knell.

She cautiously lifted her eyes to meet Nathaniel's murderous gaze, but suddenly couldn't bear to look him in the eye, her gaze flickering.

Chelsea explained, "Nathaniel, my mom must have dialed the wrong number. You know, she's been mentally unstable since the shock and is undergoing treatment. I should just turn off the phone."

She bent down to turn off the phone, but just as her fingers were about to touch it, a large hand reached out, snatched her phone, and pressed the answer and speaker buttons.

The air in the living room became eerily quiet.

Maria's voice came through the phone. "Chelsea, are you asleep?"

When Maria didn't get a response, she continued, "Chelsea, you really didn't inherit a single bit of my skills. If you had learned even a fraction from me, that bitch Aurelia would be dead like her mother by now."

Chelsea's breath trembled, unsure of what Maria would say next, and she hurriedly replied, "Mom, stop talking nonsense. Aurelia just passed away not long ago. I'm also heartbroken over her accident."

Maria let out a cold laugh and continued cursing, "Chelsea, what nonsense are you talking about? If we had let Aurelia live and give birth to twins, do you think Nathaniel would still care about you and your child? Didn't you tell me you wanted her dead? I've cleaned the obstacle for you. Aren't you happy?"

Chelsea was almost in tears from fear as she said, "Mom, I said that in anger. Please stop talking nonsense. Aurelia and I..."

Before she could finish, Nathaniel had already hung up the phone. He was terrifyingly calm, like the calm before a storm.

Chelsea didn't dare look up. She knew she had crossed his bottom line and had seen him lose his temper before. If it were anyone else who had done this to him, they would have faced much worse retaliation. She was now praying that he would spare her for the sake of the child. After all, a parent's love knew no bounds. She was carrying his child, which was like a pardon.

Hearing those venomous words with his own ears, Nathaniel's heart ached unbearably. If it weren't for him, Aurelia wouldn't have been hated to the point of murder by Maria and Chelsea.

"Chelsea, you, come with me now," Nathaniel said.

He didn't hit her or scold her, but his icy tone demanded she follow him.

Chelsea's heart slowly settled. He still had some feelings for her and couldn't bear to hurt his child.

After the fright, she felt aggrieved and said, "Nathaniel, it's so late. Where are we going? Why don't we rest here tonight, and I'll have the maid make your favorite shrimp and grits in the morning?"

Chelsea knew Nathaniel often had this at home, but she didn't know that shrimp and grits was Aurelia's favorite. Before she married into the Heilbronn family, he never touched the stuff.

Nathaniel coldly replied, "We're going to get an abortion now. Tomorrow, we'll handle the paperwork. Every second our relationship continues makes me sick."

He used the word "sick" to describe their relationship.

Chelsea forced out tears.

'How could he be so heartless, wanting me to abort the child?' Chelsea thought.

She hadn't expected his hatred for her had extended to an unborn child, even though the child wasn't his, but he didn't know that. Even if it were his biological child, he wouldn't keep it.

"Nathaniel, do you really mean that?" Chelsea cried with tears in her eyes.

Nathaniel's expression remained terrifyingly cold, and his voice was deep, as if he had made this decision after careful consideration, not on impulse.

He said, "When you did such a vicious thing to Aurelia, did you not think we would end up here?"

Chelsea continued to argue, "I never intended to harm Aurelia. She's my blood sister. How could I harm her? What I said to my mom was out of anger. Who knew she would take it seriously?"

She now pushed all the blame onto Maria, trying to defend herself, crying pitifully. If Nathaniel hadn't uncovered everything, he might have believed she was innocent.

Nathaniel used to be afraid of women crying. In the past, he would surrender as soon as she cried. Now, he only felt that his intelligence had been utilized by Chelsea.

She was too good at pretending, crafting an image of an innocent woman, but in reality, she was very sinister.

"You share the same blood, yet you're worlds apart. How many times did you try to have her killed? She never did anything excessive to you. Do you have any conscience?" Nathaniel demanded.

Chelsea stood frozen. She knew he had found out everything she had done. He had come to settle the score. Every grievance Aurelia had suffered, he would settle with her one by one.

"Nathaniel, for the sake of the child, can we not fight?" She softened her tone, pleading with him.

Nathaniel coldly replied, "Go to the hospital or take abortion pills at home, your choice!"

Chelsea was trembling all over and she asked, "Will the baby feel pain from the abortion?"

When she asked this, Nathaniel thought of the twins in Aurelia's belly, who had already passed the unstable first trimester and had started moving.

'How much pain must the babies have felt when that van crashed into them?' Thinking of this, his heart ached.

Chelsea clung to the sofa, refusing to go with him, but Nathaniel wouldn't relent this time. He called Zack downstairs in front of her and instructed, "Go to the hospital now and get abortion pills. Bring them here as fast as you can!"

He couldn't stand it for another minute.

Chelsea sobbed, hiccuping from crying, but it didn't earn her any sympathy from him.

She had cried herself into despair. The baby wasn't his anyway, and this outcome was the retribution for her lies.

There was nothing intimate happened between them. Chelsea understood that no matter what she did now, she no longer posed a threat to him.

If she were to jump off a building, he would only watch coldly.

In their youth, he had always said he would marry her as Mrs. Heilbronn, but he resisted any intimate contact with her.

Less than half an hour passed, and there was a hurried knock on the door. Zack stood outside, holding a small box of pills.

"Mr. Heilbronn, these are the abortion pills, and these are painkillers. The doctor said if the pain is unbearable, take one painkiller," Zack said.

Nathaniel sneered, "No need!"

He took out the fatal pill, handing the rest back to Zack.

Chelsea, with tear-filled eyes, watched him approach with the pill in his hand, feeling a sudden sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

'My baby, is he about to die here? Why should that bitch's death drag my baby down too?' Chelsea thought.

Chelsea screamed, "Nathaniel, I won't take it. Please don't abort our child. He's your son!"

Can't win me back
