Chapter 469 Why Aren't You Answering the Phone
Aurora and the designer, Jack, nodded in agreement, thinking Phoenix made a good point. They both thought Aurelia was incredibly beautiful.
Aurora said, "Aurelia, you don't need anything else to make it in showbiz. Just your face alone could dominate the industry. You're stunning even without makeup. It's all about those perfect bone structures!"
Jack agreed, "Aurelia's face could be a reference for plastic surgeons. If you entered the entertainment world, you'd have no competition."
Aurelia felt a bit embarrassed by Aurora and Jack's comments. It was one thing to hear this at the office, but did they have to say it out in public?
"Alright, you two, that's enough. I'm busy enough in the design world; I don't need to conquer showbiz too."
Jack sighed, "Aurelia, do you have any idea how attractive you are? Remember the last time we went out to eat? Those two guys followed us all the way until Nathaniel showed up. They only left when they saw you two together, and their eyes were practically glued to you."
Aurora chimed in, "I know about that. One of them even came to our building later, asking the security guard about you. I overheard it all. He wanted to hit on you but felt too intimidated when he saw Nathaniel."
Phoenix, sitting in his chair, felt a chill run down his spine. He knew she was beautiful and expected men to be interested, but he hadn't realized they were so bold, following her around and asking about her.
He felt relieved that Nathaniel had scared those guys off. Who knows what could have happened if they had stuck around?
"Aurelia, have you thought about hiring a bodyguard?"
Aurelia already had people secretly protecting her, as Joe had arranged, but she couldn't say that out loud. It would be too much.
"I'm just an ordinary person. Why would I need a bodyguard?"
Phoenix fell silent, clearly deep in thought.
Soon, Phoenix's makeup was done, and the stylist fixed his hair, making him look even more polished than usual. This look was perfect for the camera but not for everyday life.
Phoenix stared at himself in the mirror for a while. He didn't like wearing makeup because he didn't want people saying he didn't look manly. He was a real man, and being constantly praised for his looks felt wrong.
He decided he would remove the makeup as soon as the shoot was over.
Once everything was ready, the photoshoot began.
The photographer and lighting crew took their positions, and Aurora opened the jewelry box for the shoot. The pieces inside were the highlights of Karma Jewelry's market debut.
Phoenix was experienced with ad shoots, having countless endorsements under his belt. It was just another day at work for him.
He took out each piece of jewelry, showcasing them with different poses.
Aurelia watched from the side, thinking she might need to step in, but the shoot went smoothly. Phoenix did an excellent job, capturing everything perfectly.
Aurelia saw him in a new light.
Before the shoot, she thought of Phoenix as a bit carefree and unrestrained. After all, he was a rich kid who could do whatever he wanted. He didn't need to be a star. In the worst case, he could always go back and inherit the family business.
She expected some challenges working with him, but Phoenix was cooperative and didn't act like a superstar at all.
After the shoot, Phoenix went to the stylist to remove his makeup. His skin was still flawless, making Aurora and Jack marvel again. Stars really were on a different level.
Phoenix's manager walked in, glancing at Aurelia as she packed up the jewelry. He approached Phoenix and whispered, "Did you invite her?"
Phoenix raised an eyebrow, a smug look on his face, "I didn't invite her. She probably came to watch me shoot."
Demetrius shook his head, "Do you think I'd believe that? Maybe those other two girls came to watch you, but Aurelia? She's surrounded by industry leaders. She wouldn't come just to see you."
Demetrius didn't want to embarrass him directly but thought, "Get real!"
Phoenix scoffed. What was so great about Nathaniel? She'd eventually realize that dating someone younger was better.
Demetrius checked his watch. "We need to go. We have an appointment this afternoon that we can't miss."
Phoenix scratched his forehead. "Demetrius, can you stop booking me for random stuff? For now, I will only take on good scripts."
He wasn't short on money and didn't need to work so hard.
Demetrius felt a headache coming on. Managing Phoenix was tough. He was picky and sometimes disappeared without notice.
"No matter what, you have to be on time today. If not, we'll lose a lot of money and disappoint your fans. Just hang in there."
Phoenix was reluctant. If it hadn't geen for this boring appointment, he could have spent more time with Aurelia.
He was thinking about what to say to her when he noticed the two Karma Jewelry employees who had been watching him were gone. He stepped out of the dressing room just in time to see Aurelia leaving with her team, giving him only a glimpse of her back.
Phoenix felt a pang of sadness. He had been trying so hard to impress her, but she had left without even saying goodbye. It felt like he was getting nowhere.
Aurelia got into the car and headed back to the office.
Nathaniel sent her a message on Facebook, "Dinner at The Velvet Palate tonight?"
Aurelia glanced at it, but the desk phone rang. She put her phone aside to answer the call.
She ended up working all afternoon, still buried in work by the end of the day.
When Nathaniel walked in, Aurelia mistook him for Aurora.
"Aurora, did Ms. Sinclair mention when the shoot would be released?"
She smelled a familiar pine scent and looked up to see Nathaniel.
He sat down across from her. "Aurelia, why aren't you answering your phone?"
Aurelia picked up her phone and saw a bunch of missed calls and messages, all from Nathaniel.
"Maybe it was on silent. I didn't have time to check."
"So, Aurelia, how long do you plan to work tonight?"
Aurelia looked at the designs on her desk. She still had some drafts from the design team to review. The ones she approved needed to be sent to the factory for production.
She was determined to make Karma Jewelry a mature brand, treating it like an established name.
