Chapter 95 Chelsea Jumps off the Building
Countless people in the post anonymously tagged her and Nathaniel.
[@Aurelia@Mr. Heilbronn, are you announcing your relationship? When can we attend the boss's wedding?]
[@Aurelia@Mr. Heilbronn, you are really a perfect match.]
[Whispering to @Aurelia, will you show our chat records to Mr. Heilbronn?]
For a moment, rumors about Aurelia's identity as the boss lady spread throughout the entire company.
Aurelia locked her phone screen, lay down in bed, looked at the empty pillow beside her, and had a premonition that he wouldn't come back today.
Aurelia had a sleepless night.
Nathaniel, indeed, did not come back.
Aurelia got up as usual, washed up, and went downstairs for breakfast.
The living room TV was playing the morning news, replaying the suicide jumping incident from yesterday evening. She unconsciously watched a few more glances.
The woman on the rooftop was wearing a red dress, sitting on the edge with her legs dangling at the height of the seventh floor, one leg in a cast.
The area downstairs was crowded with onlookers. Various government emergency departments were arriving one after another to implement various rescue plans.
Through the telephoto lens, Aurelia still saw clearly that it was Chelsea.
She must have gone crazy after seeing the posts on the intranet!
Aurelia never expected Chelsea to go to such lengths to snatch Nathaniel, even willing to give up her life. The chances of survival from that height were almost nonexistent.
The police downstairs were using a megaphone to persuade her, but she seemed deaf to it.
Then, several people climbed up to the rooftop. It was the rescue team, and when Aurelia saw a familiar figure among the firefighters, her body stiffened.
Not knowing what Nathaniel said to her, Chelsea was eventually pulled to safety by him, and he carried her into the ambulance.
After the news ended, Aurelia was still absentmindedly staring at the TV.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, your food will get cold if you don't eat soon."
Betty urged her.
Aurelia finally came back to her senses and sat at the dining table.
Betty also briefly glanced at the news just now, not seeing clearly that it was Nathaniel rescuing the person on the rooftop, and muttered, "Why would this woman think of jumping off the building? I don't think she really wants to die. If she truly wanted to die, she would have just jumped. Making such a big scene and waiting for the rescue team to arrive, I think she's deliberately causing a stir to get men's attention."
The sandwich Aurelia put in her mouth tasted bland. She felt that Chelsea probably had no other option but to resort to such means to keep Nathaniel.
"Betty, do you think these methods can keep a man?"
Betty brought over the hot milk and shook her head, saying, "I doubt it. Men are the most rational creatures. Once their minds change, such extreme methods will only repel them. It depends on whether this man feels indebted to her."
Aurelia held the cup of milk, silent.
Today was the day for her check-up; she had already taken a day off yesterday, and as she drove to Amber Hospital, Norman called.
Aurelia declined the call, but he called again the next second.
"Aurelia, please, please, hurry up and divorce Nathaniel. You can ask for any conditions you want."
Norman's voice was on the verge of tears over the phone, causing a pang in Aurelia's heart. As his daughter, she knew she didn't hold even a fraction of the place in his heart compared to Chelsea.
He was now begging her to divorce Nathaniel, all for Chelsea.
Even though she no longer saw him as family, she couldn't help but feel sad.
"Norman, do you even know what you're saying?"
Norman's voice was extremely anxious. "Aurelia, Dad can kneel and beg you. Please spare Chelsea's life. I know this request is unreasonable, but you two are sisters. Chelsea really can't live without Nathaniel. Please spare her."
"Norman, you should be advising Chelsea, not disgust me with this moral blackmail. It's her own stubbornness, and no one has forced her to die. You're telling me to divorce Nathaniel. Have you even asked if he agrees? Even if we divorce, would Nathaniel really want to marry her?"
Norman fell silent for a few seconds.
"You divorce Nathaniel first. At least give Chelsea hope to live!"
Aurelia was disgusted by this statement.
"Norman, don't call me again. Chelsea won't die; she can live without anyone; she's just using everyone's sympathy."
After saying that, she hung up, blocked Norman, and checked her contacts. Before putting her phone away, she didn't find any of Norman’s other numbers.
Amber had been waiting for a while in the doctor's office.
Listening to the strong heartbeat coming from the fetal monitor, Aurelia gradually calmed down.
"Aurelia, your belly is starting to show."
Carrying two babies in her belly, her waist naturally expanded faster than a mother with a single child, and she had been following the doctor's advice to control her weight.
She ate less sugar, avoided greasy foods, and consumed a large amount of seasonal fruits and vegetables daily. She even ate the vegetables she usually disliked, but that was good for the babies.
"Amber, I've decided to tell him."
Amber paused. "Have you come to terms with it?"
"Yes."
Nathaniel's recent attitude made her want to work hard for this little family. She could sense Nathaniel's emotional shift between her and Chelsea.
She didn't understand what Chelsea meant to him, but her intuition told her that Nathaniel's feelings for Chelsea were not love but another kind of attachment that was hard to let go of, definitely not love.
Amber smiled. "As long as you've made up your mind, I support you!"
Seeing Amber put away the fetal monitor and come back to reality, Aurelia asked, "Amber, can you play it for me again? I want to record the sound."
That pleasant heartbeat was the only solace in her heart. Of course, she also wanted to save a precious recording to play for the two children in the future or even for Nathaniel.
At that moment, her heart was filled with anticipation for the future.
They would have children and live a peaceful and happy life in Bloom Villa, without Chelsea, just calm and stable times.
Following her instincts, Amber placed the fetal heart monitor back onto her belly. It embodied three heartbeats within one frame—a melody recognized as the most melodious in existence.
Aurelia posted the recorded sound on her Facebook account and replayed it a few times before putting her phone away.
Leaving the hospital, Aurelia drove to the city center, went to the maternal and infant store she had visited last time, and bought a set of clothes for a baby girl, a set for a baby boy, and some baby items. She was prepared to tell Nathaniel the truth.
Regardless of the outcome, she would safely give birth to the babies in her belly.
If he forced her to have an abortion, she would rather choose to commit suicide.
Acting was not something only Chelsea could do; she just disdained it. However, for the sake of the babies, she could learn a thing or two from Chelsea's methods.
