Chapter 129 The Entanglement With Nathaniel

Nathaniel cleared his throat and said, "Grandpa, don't worry so much."

"You're too confident. Wait until you're in your thirties, and see if Aurelia will still want you. You might end up disliking yourself," Reed retorted.

Nathaniel broke into a cold sweat. What a heavy topic!

"Grandpa, I work out regularly, so there's nothing to worry about," Nathaniel reassured.

"Make good use of your time before it's too late. I've warned you. Your current lifestyle and diet are different from before; what you eat and drink can affect your health," Reed advised.

Nathaniel felt like Reed was trying to influence him. He reminded himself not to heed Reed's words too much, but deep down, he still had some doubts and believed some of what Reedsaid.

Nathaniel thought it was not the right time to talk about this as so many media outlets eagerly waiting for interviews.

"I understand, Grandpa," he said, following along to avoid any further reprimands.

On the other end of the call, Reed, satisfied with Nathaniel's compliant tone, hung up and immediately instructed the butler, Ted, "The last doctor's dietary plan didn't work well. Get a new doctor."

Ted agreed but also pondered, asking, "But Mr. Heilbronn, it depends on the couple. If they've been secretly using contraceptives behind your back, no dietary plans will work no matter how we try."

This remark struck a chord with Reed. "Could Nathaniel have been using contraceptives all this time?"

Ted pondered, "It's possible. After all, they've been married for three years, and if Aurelia hasn't shown any signs of pregnancy, they're likely using contraceptives."

Reed's face darkened with worry. He could curse in private, but he couldn't interven in their private life too much, could he?

If they continued like this, he might never have a great-grandchild before he passed away, which would be his lifelong regret. What would he say to his wife when he passed away? He might only rely on such excuse as their grandson was disobedient and didn't want children.

Reed grew increasingly upsetwith these thoughts and knew he had to find a solution.

At the conference, Nathaniel's eyelid twitched incessantly.

After answering the journalists' questions, Nathaniel exchanged pleasantries with old friends. There was a celebratory banquet in the evening, and those who made time to attend the conference would likely also be at the banquet.

"Aurelia, this is Mr. Orion Johnson from real estate. His company developed the house we currently live in. And this is Mr. Maximus Williams from the catering industry; his hotels have even expanded overseas."

"Mr. Johnson, Mr. Williams, nice to meet you," Aurelia greeted them openly. It was the first time she was introduced to Nathaniel's circle while being held by him, and she felt genuinely happy. Among Nathaniel's acquaintances, Aurelia only knew Oscar. She greeted them confidently.

One of them joked, "Mr. Heilbronn, you're so lucky to have such a smart and beautiful wife. What a winner in life!"

Nathaniel exchanged pleasantries with the guests and friends present.

As the media dispersed, employees began tidying up the hall, eagerly anticipating the evening's celebratory banquet.

The Heilbronn Group had rented a luxury cruise ship for the occasion, and everyone would sail to Silvershore Falls for the celebration.

Nathaniel led Aurelia back to the CEO's office, where she could explain about the dress.

As soon as they entered, Aurelia was pushed against the glass door. Feeling flustered, she wondered why he always pushed her against this door, seemingly unconcerned about employees seeing them.

Getting straight to the point, he asked, "What's the matter with the dress?"

Aurelia licked her lips, feeling wronged, and confessed, "The custom-made dress you ordered was maliciously damaged. I had to find this dress as a last-minute replacement."

Nathaniel scrutinized the dress. She rarely wore black, and her wardrobe was dominated by light-colored clothes. This black evening dress seemed tailored for her, fitting perfectly in every aspect.

Although it looked good, it wasn't her style.

Frowning, he asked, "Where did you get this dress?"

Timidly, Aurelia hesitated to speak, meeting his intense gaze, which made her admit, "I wanted to find you downstairs but ran into Uncle Marcus in the elevator. He said he had spare dresses and brought one over for me as a temporary solution."

As his suspicions were confirmed, Nathaniel's face darkened. It was a stark contrast to the warmth he had shown at the conference.

"Do you think this was just a random choice?" he questioned.

It was clearly tailored for her; a randomly chosen dress wouldn't fit her so perfectly. With her slender figure, the dress hugged her in all the right places, with no excess fabric, fitting her chest and waist perfectly.

This realization only fueled Nathaniel's anger. "How did he know your measurements?"

Marcus knew even his wife's measurements, which made Nathaniel uncomfortable. He trusted Aurelia with having no intimate contact with Marcus. Even if Marcus had guessed her measurements by sight, the mere thought was unbearable to him.

Aurelia, who was pressed against the glass door, felt like a timid bird. She sensed his anger and was on the verge of tears.

"No way he could know my measurements," she explained.

She added tearfully, "I tried calling you but couldn't get through. So, when I saw Uncle Marcus on my way, and he offered a dress, I had no choice but to take them as in an emergency."

Seeing her tears, Nathaniel softened. "Silly girl. Since my phone didn't work, why didn't you call Zack?"

Aurelia blinked her bright eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks. "I was in a hurry and didn't think of it," she replied.

Seeing her cry, Nathaniel relented and reached out to wipe her tears. "Why are you crying? I didn't do anything to you."

Upon hearing his comforting words, Aurelia's grievance overwhelmed her, and she cried harder, tears falling like raindrops from the sky, fierce and unrelenting.

Nathaniel couldn't bear to see her in such distress, feeling a surge of protectiveness.

As Nathaniel held her down, Aurelia wept, looking like a fragile flower, causing his mind to go blank.

His throat tightened, and he loosened his tie, feeling the air conditioning was too warm.

"Aurelia, it's okay. Remember to come to me first for anything next time, and keep your distance from Uncle Marcus. He's not a good person," Nathaniel advised.

Sniffling, Aurelia nodded. She had been consciously keeping her distance from Marcus, but he always seemed to appear at exactly the right moment, offering a helping hand when she needed it most.

Choking back her sobs, she said, "My favorite dress was ruined."

With red eyes and a red nose, she looked like a child who had been wronged outside and returned home to complain to her parents.

Nathaniel's heart melted into a puddle.

He led her to the lounge and kissed her forehead, eyes, nose, and finally, her red lips.

Under his gentle touch, Aurelia's emotions gradually calmed, and she responded to him, kissing him back. At that moment, she pushed aside all her worries and filled her heart with love for this man.

If only time could stop at that moment. Aurelia felt like the happiest woman in the world.
