Chapter 200 Treat Your Wife Right in the Next Life

The car screeched to a halt in the Merry Hospital parking lot.

Zack got out and opened the door for Nathaniel, who remained silent, his eyes fixed on his blood-stained hands. Zack had tried to clean them but couldn't get rid of the blood completely.

"Mr. Heilbronn, we're at the hospital. I checked, Mrs. Heilbronn was brought here by ambulance. Shall we get out?"

Nathaniel, hearing Zack's words, shook off his reverie and returned to his senses. He looked up at Zack and asked, word by word, "Zack, how much blood does a person have to lose before they can't be saved?"

Zack's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly reassured him, "Mr. Heilbronn, don't say that. If she were gone, the ambulance wouldn't have brought her to the hospital. She's definitely in a ward waiting for you. Let's go up and see."

Having faced death and seen it all, Nathaniel was now paralyzed with fear at the prospect of going upstairs with Zack. He dreaded hearing bad news he might not be able to bear.

He desperately wished that everything happening today was just a cruel joke from God.

But the blood-soaked person being taken away was indeed her.

He found her phone, his fingers trembling as he accidentally unlocked it. It was the same phone he had given her three years ago, joking that it was "joint property" and she had generously recorded his fingerprint, never bothering to delete it.

There was a red dot on Facebook. He opened it instinctively; it was from an unknown number.

The moment he saw the content of the post, a wave of anguish hit him, causing his entire body to convulse with pain.

[During the first pregnancy check-up, I saw him with Chelsea for her prenatal check-up. The tenderness in his eyes when he looked at her was something I had never seen.]

[The baby is ten weeks old, about 0.13 long, and the heart is formed. My babies, grow up quickly and meet mommy~]

[The baby's heartbeat is the most beautiful sound. I wish I could share it with him, but his heart is only for Chelsea. Sorry, baby, mommy couldn't keep daddy. Will you blame me when you grow up?]

Nathaniel listened to the heartbeat recording she had made, strong and vigorous, a clear sign of very healthy babies.

He had never been one to cry, always calm in the face of adversity, with his own unique way of solving problems. But now, he sat in the car, crying like a child.

The rhythmic heartbeat echoed in the car, and he couldn't help but wonder if the babies had already lost their heartbeat, and if Aurelia still had a heartbeat.

His eyes returned to the phone, where her last post read: [Feeling the baby kick! I'm so excited I can't sleep. Too bad Daddy is off with another woman and won't be home all night. Little ones, let's not bother with this pitiful excuse for a father. Mommy will give you all the goodness this world has to offer.]

It was the night he stayed with Chelsea.

He regretted it so much that he wanted to slap himself. He thought, 'Why didn't I go home instead of staying with that crazy woman Chelsea? Let her die if she wanted to!'

Zack stood outside the car door, looking at Nathaniel in such a state of despair, feeling equally distressed.

Losing both wife and child at the same time, what man could bear that?

"Mr. Heilbronn, should I go up and check first?" he asked.

As a competent assistant, besides doing his job well, he also needed to understand his boss' thoughts. He knew what Nathaniel was afraid of, so he volunteered to go up first.

Nathaniel hesitated, his eyes bloodshot. Despite his cleanliness obsession, he was now filthy, covered in blood and mud.

Zack didn't dare remind him to change clothes; the blood was from his wife and child. Mentioning it now would be like stabbing him in the heart.

Zack had just taken a few steps when he heard the car door close.

Nathaniel, with uneven steps, caught up. Despite his sorrow, he suddenly felt that, regardless of life or death, he should be by her side.

He couldn't leave her alone anymore, as Aurelia had suffered enough since marrying into the Heilbronn family.

At that moment, he realized, though it was too late to change the outcome, he couldn't let her be alone anymore.

Zack stopped and turned back to support him. As they walked out of the parking lot, they were stopped by several men in black.

The men who stopped them were muscular, clearly private bodyguards.

Nathaniel vaguely remembered that these were the same men who had stopped him at the accident scene, preventing him from approaching Aurelia. At that time, he was too worried about Aurelia to think about who they were.

Now, they were blocking his way again.

Nathaniel frowned and asked, "Who hired you? What's your purpose in stopping me? Do you know who I am?"

The lead man in black wasn't intimidated by his identity. After all, the person who sent them was even more formidable. If they didn't handle this well, they wouldn't be able to stay in the industry.

"Mr. Heilbronn, don't bother. Ms. Semona has unfortunately passed away. Instead of pretending to be heartbroken, why don't you go home and be with your new wife? No one will distract you anymore."

Nathaniel, mocked with such harsh words, didn't feel anger. Instead, the phrase completely broke him.

He staggered, nearly falling if Zack hadn't been holding him.

At this moment, Zack remained rational, and he asked, "Who are you, and why are you so concerned about Mrs. Heilbronn? Did you harm her?"

The man in black sneered, "We were protecting Ms. Semona, not harming her. It was your boss who wanted to bring his mistress home and found her in the way, so he hired someone to do it. Isn't it funny the pot calling the kettle black?"

Zack was infuriated, and he shouted, "What nonsense are you talking about! "

The man in black continued to mock, "Ordinary men wouldn't treat their wives like this, but your boss isn't an ordinary man. His heart is like a stone in a cesspool, dirty and hard. Ms. Semona had been out of mind to marry him."

Zack was speechless. Indeed, his boss had done inhumane things, and he admitted it.

But Nathaniel had never been scolded like this.

Zack turned to look at Nathaniel, who seemed completely oblivious to the mockery, muttering, "She's gone, she's gone forever."

He looked like he had lost his mind.

A few men in black suits sneered. "You tell your boss not to bother coming. He'd better treat his wife right in the next life; otherwise, he might just find himself with the oxygen tube yanked out by a woman when he's old."

Zack clenched his fists, filled with rage and the urge to lash out. He steadied Nathaniel, feeling the tremors course through Nathaniel's body.

Then a voice cut through the tension.

"Nathaniel, I thought you'd gone back to the office! I tried calling, but no luck. I even made a reservation at that trendy couple's restaurant for tonight. Let's head out together, okay?"

Nathaniel's eyes, bloodshot and filled with pain, narrowed as a wave of unpleasant memories crashed over him. "Get lost! Don't ever show your face in front of me again!" he spat, his voice filled with venom.
Can't win me back
