Chapter 240 This Time, It's His Turn to Pamper
Caleb snapped back, "Just wait and see, I won't go easy on you."
With that, Caleb got up to leave. He knew well that pursuing a woman wasn't about who has better rhetoric. For someone like Aurelia, who has been hurt before, she won't easily believe in love.
He felt she needed time to gradually build a sense of security. As long as he was sincere, one day he would be able to occupy a place in her heart.
Standing under the blazing sun for half a day, Nathaniel felt an unprecedented sense of crisis that left him at a loss. It was a feeling he had never experienced.
He actually had no shortage of women around him. Over the past four years, people had constantly been trying to set him up with women such as supermodels, celebrities, and even noble ladies. But in his heart, apart from Aurelia, no one else could hold a candle to her.
Watching Caleb's departing figure, Nathaniel suddenly realized how clueless he was about love.
Caleb had merely declared that he would compete fairly with him, and he already felt unbearably distressed. He remembered those days when Chelsea clung to him in the past, Aurelia must have suffered more than he did now.
Nathaniel took out the business card he had swiped from her desk, opened his phone, and added the number to his contacts.
In the past, she had unconditionally pampered and clung to him.
This time, it was his turn to pamper her.
No matter what would happen, this time, he had to win her back.
In the meantime, Aurelia had already sorted out Jacob and Dorothy's school within a day. The school environment was good, and the teachers were kind. Both of the kids liked it.
The next day, the children started school without any trouble.
While Aurelia hid at home, afraid to go to work. She knew he would definitely come looking for her. She hadn't figured out how to face him yet.
Just then, a new friend request notification appeared on Facebook.
She opened it and saw an avatar with a solid black image.
Aurelia thought it was a client Elara was handling. Aurora had called the client before, and they had said they would contact her when they had time.
She accepted the friend request,, waited for a long time without receiving a message, and then forgot about it.
What she didn't know was that the mysterious "new friend" was now scrolling through her past posts.
Nathaniel sat at his desk, holding his phone.
He had thought she would reject him and had prepared to be scolded when he sent the friend request. He hadn't expected her to accept it so quickly and directly.
Scrolling through each of her post, his eyes welling up with tears.
Her timeline recorded her journey from starting her studio to now, detailing work-related matters. From a three-person workshop to a team of over a hundred, he felt her joy at receiving her first order and empathized with her frustration when clients were hard to deal with.
He read every post, all work-related.
Nathaniel guessed this was just her work account, but being able to add her as a friend already made him incredibly happy.
He wanted to treat this reunion as a fresh start for them, pursuing her without any reservations.
He would never love anyone else in this lifetime.
Today, Zack went to the dealership to pick up a car as per Nathaniel's request. A brand-new black Bugatti was parked downstairs.
Now that Nathaniel had found Aurelia, he needed to stay here for an extended period. To make things more convenient, he decided to buy a car for convenience.
Over the years, Nathaniel had constantly reminisced about the details of their time together. He remembered that during their chats, Aurelia had mentioned liking Bugatti's design because it was sleek, stylish, and artistic.
As someone with a discerning eye, Nathaniel knew that anything Aurelia approved of was surely the best-looking.
Nathaniel had pulled some strings to get the dealership in Coral Bay to expedite the delivery of the car. As soon as he received the call to pick it up, he immediately sent Zack to retrieve it.
Nathaniel looked at the shiny new car, feeling cheerful.
A man of his temperament preferred cars with a rugged appearance, but this Bugatti was indeed nice, as she had said, with a very stylish design.
He walked around the car, feeling satisfied from every angle. He then took out his phone, snapped a photo, and posted it on his timeline with the caption, [The car she likes.]
Zack handed him the keys, thinking to himself, 'When did Mr. Heilbronn's taste improve?'
Nathaniel nodded in acknowledgment, then told Zack, "Get in."
Zack hesitated for a second. 'Does this mean Mr. Heilbronn is going to drive himself?' he wondered and was a bit confused.
Having been Nathaniel's assistant for so many years, Zack had always doubled as his driver and had never ridden in a car driven by Nathaniel.
Despite his confusion, Zack nervously got into the passenger seat.
Nathaniel, in a good mood today, decided to show off his driving skills. The new car felt great, and he was satisfied with every aspect, except that he couldn't control the speed and drove a bit too fast.
Zack gripped the door handle tightly, his heart racing, extremely nervous. He watched as Nathaniel skillfully maneuvered the steering wheel, overtaking cars along the way, and his stomach began to churn. Fortunately, half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a villa.
Nathaniel unbuckled his seatbelt and said, "Get out."
Zack was still a bit dazed, having been jostled the whole way."Mr. Heilbronn, where are we?" he asked.
Nathaniel tossed him the car keys and said, "Visiting an old friend of Reed's."
Hearing that, Zack quickly composed himself before getting out of the car.
The two of them rang the doorbell. Within a minute, a servant came to open the door, greeting, "Mr. Heilbronn, Mr. Wilson has been expecting you. Please follow me."
Nathaniel and Zack followed the servant inside, taking in the villa's Western-style decor, which used simple white and natural wood tones, making the whole house feel cozy and stylish.
At the staircase on the second floor, a kind old man with a cane smiled at them, and remarked, "Nathaniel, is that you?"
Nathaniel looked up and quickly walked a few steps, carrying the gifts Zack had prepared, greeting, "Mr. Wilson, I hope my sudden visit didn't disturb your rest?"
Cassius laughed, then he inquired, "It's been years, and you're still so polite. Why didn't your grandfather come with you?"
At the mention of Reed, Nathaniel's face stiffened for a moment. Reed hadn't wanted to see him for four years, an embarrassing family matter that he didn't dare mention. After an awkward two seconds, he regained his composure and explained, "My grandpa's dog is about to give birth, so he's staying put, waiting for the good news."
Cassius shook his head, mildly disappointed, then said with a smile. "I haven't seen Reed in half a lifetime. I wonder if we'd still recognize each other."
Nathaniel followed his lead and said, "I'll bring him over in a few days so you two can catch up."
With that, they went into the study, where Cassius had the servant bring the best tea to entertain them.
While chatting, Nathaniel didn't forget the purpose of his visit.
He naturally brought up the topic. "Mr. Wilson, do you have any properties you could sell to me?"
Cassius sighed, "I knew you had a reason for coming. Why, with so many properties in Coral Bay, you had to come to me?"
Nathaniel admitted, "The ones I liked were all sold out, so I had to come to you."
Nathaniel had been hitting walls trying to buy a house these past few days. He had realized something was off and had someone investigate. It turned out someone had ordered the real estate companies to not to sell to him.
As for the reason behind it, he would eventually find out.
Although he didn't know why he had offended Joe, real estate was his business. If Joe's didn't want to sell to him, there was nothing he could do.
Just like if the Heilbronn family didn't want to sell jewelry to Joe, Joe wouldn't be able to buy it, either.
Nathaniel needed a house, as he would likely be staying there for an extended period.
