Chapter 75 A Table Fight
Aurelia glanced at her. "I'm not interested in your sugar daddy affairs. Since we met here today, let me advise you to keep it down when making love at night. Repeated complaints from the downstairs neighbor are not ideal. We should all strive to uphold a certain level of decorum."
Chelsea's face turned gloomy for a few seconds. "How do you know? Did you bug my house?"
Chelsea's first reaction was that Aurelia was monitoring her; uncontrollable panic surged within her. It wasn't Aurelia's knowledge that worried her, but the potential repercussions if Nathaniel were to find out. If he did, Chelsea feared it would spell the end of any mercy he might hold for her.
"I'm not as boring as you. I’m just reminding you. Don't make a scene that lets the whole neighborhood know you're using someone else's house to keep a lover."
Quick on the uptake, Chelsea realized her rented house wasn't bugged as she had thought, and Aurelia probably wouldn't dare. Thinking this, she immediately changed her expression. "Nathaniel loves my body too much. He wants to go to bed with me over and over again. I guess he hasn't treated you like that. You two definitely haven't done it. You're probably still a virgin."
"You're quite amusing. Let's not lie anymore since we're all adults here. Nathaniel didn't leave the house yesterday; who's the man you're keeping in the house? Does he know? Maybe you can't even afford a house and have to use your boss's house to keep a man."
Chelsea stomped her foot in anger. "Aurelia, what are you so proud of? We've had a relationship for over a decade. He will marry me sooner or later."
"Well, you wait and see. Wait until your child is born and see if he acknowledges it," Aurelia said.
Aurelia glanced at Chelsea's flat belly with a meaningful smile. Aurelia wondered what she was pregnant with; despite being pregnant for so long, her waist remained slender.
Chelsea knew Aurelia had seen through her lie about being pregnant and shamelessly asked her, "If you're so capable, why don't you have a child? After three years of marriage, you still can't have one. You have no right to mock others."
"Whether I have a child or not, I am his wife."
Aurelia chuckled lightly and opened a door directly, leaving Chelsea alone outside in anger. When she returned to the private room, the waiter had already started serving dishes intermittently.
Marcus was waiting for her at the door. "Aurelia, Nathaniel is in the next room. Should we join him?"
His words poured cold water on Aurelia's heart; having just encountered Chelsea in the bathroom, her intuition told her it wasn't a coincidence.
He had clearly told her it was a business dinner, so why was it Chelsea?
As Aurelia stood in a daze, Nathaniel emerged from the adjacent private room, paused at the sight of her, and spoke after a few seconds, "Uncle Marcus, come over here."
Aurelia stood frozen in place, her legs feeling as heavy as metal.
She kept telling herself it was just a coincidence. They were all just here to eat at this restaurant.
"Aurelia, let's go over there." Marcus's voice brought her back to reality, and like a soul being drawn out of her, Aurelia followed Marcus into the adjacent private room.
Sure enough, Chelsea was seated inside, and when she saw Aurelia, she raised her chin, her triumphant expression akin to a declaration of war.
Apart from Chelsea, Caleb was also seated in the private room.
Aurelia felt a momentary regret surging in her heart; she regretted agreeing to dine out with Marcus today. This wasn't a restaurant at all; it was hell.
Caleb's eyes lit up when he saw her. He immediately invited her to sit beside him and asked the waiter to bring new cutlery.
Nathaniel's face darkened, gripping Aurelia's wrist and pulling her to sit beside him, unconsciously exerting a bit too much force, leaving a red mark on her wrist.
Seeing Nathaniel protect Aurelia so tightly, Caleb teasingly remarked, "Nathaniel is quite possessive!"
Aurelia's heart raced to her throat; she glanced sideways at Nathaniel and found his gaze seemingly murderous.
Caleb was blatantly flirting with Nathaniel's wife right in front of him and then called him tight-fisted. It was like he was ruthlessly jabbing at his most sensitive wound.
Nathaniel, of course, was not pleased with him.
"If you want to talk, let's talk; if not, let's forget it."
He was used to others asking him for favors; there was no reason for him to consider others' feelings.
Caleb didn't understand why he was angry, wearing an innocent expression. Nathaniel had invited him out to select a reputable celebrity from Sinclair Media as a brand ambassador, and he was already getting upset before even taking a bite of his meal. He had only invited his sister to sit beside him; he hadn't done anything out of line.
"Nathaniel, you take such good care of your sister. Can't I even talk to your sister?"
If she couldn't even have a word with a man, then she might as well swear off marriage for life.
Nathaniel furrowed his brow, turning to Aurelia with a look of astonishment and questioning.
How many men has Aurelia seduced behind his back?
Aurelia felt her scalp tingle under his gaze.
“Mr. Sinclair, you haven't touched the drink I poured for you just now. I've finished mine.”
Chelsea, fearing a potential conflict between the two bosses, intervened to ease the tension. She was here today with a mission: She had to secure a contract with Sinclair Media's most sought-after celebrity for collaboration.
Firstly, to select the most trending celebrity for her upcoming project, ensuring its success and boosting her own reputation in the design industry. Secondly, she wanted to impress Nathaniel; he hadn't paid much attention to her lately.
If she didn't show some value, given Nathaniel's recent attitude towards her, she couldn't guarantee he wouldn't soon pay her off to disappear from his sight.
Caleb finished his drink in one gulp, temporarily diverting the topic.
"Mr. Sinclair, can we have Carol endorse our brand?"
Chelsea refilled Caleb's glass. "The Heilbronn Group is an international luxury brand; we need a top-tier celebrity for a win-win collaboration."
Caleb smiled, understanding the logic, but he didn't want to negotiate with Chelsea. Nathaniel had invited him out, yet Chelsea was doing all the talking, which wasn't in line with industry norms.
His gaze swept over Nathaniel, eventually settling on Aurelia beside him.
"I want to sign this contract with her!"
He pointed at Aurelia, intending to test the limits of Nathaniel today; if he became his brother-in-law, he couldn't be at his beck and call every day.
Nathaniel slammed his fork down, grabbing Aurelia's wrist to leave. He didn't consider others’ feelings at all, including his old classmate.
"There are some matters at home; take your time."
Aurelia was dragged out of the restaurant by him. He pushed her into the passenger seat.
"You have three minutes to explain. Think carefully before you speak!"
Aurelia winced at his grip, her skin always delicate, now marked with a red circle on her arm. She rubbed her arm, feeling uneasy, especially when she noticed a purple hair tie on the front console, a style Chelsea liked.
She opened the glove compartment, finding a horn comb, a small mirror, and a makeup remover.
"Weren't you supposed to attend a business dinner tonight?"
Did a business dinner also involve Chelsea?
Nathaniel stood in front of the passenger door, looking down at her. "Explain. Don't ask back. You said you'd be home for dinner. Why are you with Marcus?"
This made him very angry; he had reminded her many times not to get too close to Marcus, but she clearly hadn't taken his words seriously, meeting him for dinner during off-hours.
