Chapter 266 His Computer

Nathaniel wanted to send her the recording right away, but Aurelia didn't even give him a chance to add her as a friend.

They boarded the plane and found their seats. Nathaniel sat there, cold and silent.

Zack glanced over at him, seeing him with his eyes closed, leaning back in his seat. He knew Nathaniel wasn't asleep; he was just too upset to talk.

The term 'tainted man' was something only Aurelia dared to call Nathaniel. Anyone else would've been dealt with long ago.

Zack wished his phone was dead and off. That message on his phone felt like a ticking time bomb; it could explode at any moment and cost him his bonus. He was on edge the whole flight.

When they landed in Imperick and got out of the airport, the assistant from the secretarial department, Isolde Montgomery, was already waiting at the pickup point. Seeing Zack and Nathaniel, she waved and ran over.

"Mr. Heilbronn, Zack, I'm here!" Her shout drew everyone's attention, making it impossible to miss her.

Zack walked beside Nathaniel. From boarding to exiting, Nathaniel hadn't said a word. With him in a bad mood, Zack didn't dare provoke him.

Sometimes, silence was the best way to handle things.

Isolde squeezed through the crowd to reach them. "Mr. Heilbronn, Zack, I got coffee for you. An iced Americano for Mr. Heilbronn and a full-sugar cappuccino for Zack."

Zack took the coffees, signaling Isolde with his eyes to say less. Unfortunately, she didn't catch Zack's hint and kept talking.

She asked, "Mr. Heilbronn, I heard from the company that they saw Mrs. Heilbronn at the meeting. Is it true? Where is she? Didn't she come back with you?"

This question made Zack's hair stand on end, and his palms sweat. He desperately signaled Isolde with his eyes, but she didn't notice.

Nathaniel, feeling down and not wanting to speak, didn't want to embarrass Isolde in public due to his good upbringing.

Isolde, not getting an answer, continued to ask, "Mr. Heilbronn, can you add Mrs. Heilbronn to our company's group chat? Many of our colleagues haven't met her yet."

This question made Zack's heart leap to his throat, and he almost choked. He quickly pulled Isolde to his side. If she kept pressing the matter, the entire Heilbronn Group's staff would have a bad day.

Realizing she had overstepped, Isolde finally fell silent.

Nathaniel's car was parked on the roadside outside. Isolde had driven it over, thinking a few minutes wouldn't be a problem, but in the time it took to pick them up, a police officer had ticketed it.

Zack rubbed his temples, feeling the urgent need to have a serious talk with the secretarial department.

Nathaniel held back any reproachful words, but his aura was terrifyingly cold.

Once in the car, Zack handed the iced Americano to the back seat. "Mr. Heilbronn, here's your coffee."

Nathaniel didn't take it and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Zack, why do you drink full-sugar cappuccino?"

Zack chuckled and said, "Mr. Heilbronn, actually, I also like iced Americano. It's my wife who likes cappuccino, so I tried it and got used to it."

Nathaniel slightly raised his chin, saying, "You could drink this, and give me the cappuccino."

He vaguely remembered that Aurelia also liked cappuccino, so he decided to try the taste she liked, just like Zack.

Zack handed over the other coffee, and Nathaniel's eyes landed on Zack's phone sitting on the center console. "Let me use your phone for a moment."

Zack's heart skipped a beat, praying Aurelia wouldn't say anything harsh. He couldn't handle any more stress.

He unlocked the phone and handed it over, sitting in the passenger seat, breathing cautiously.

Nathaniel opened the recent chat. The message that had hurt him was still there. Throughout the journey, he had reflected on many things. Aurelia's disappointment in him was his own doing, and he knew that rebuilding trust would take time and effort.

He lightly touched the screen, quickly editing and sending a message in Zack's tone: [Mrs. Heilbronn, Mr. Heilbronn's computer contains many confidential company files. Please help safeguard it. Also, there's a PPT dated today in the computer. Please send it to Mr. Heilbronn's email. The computer's password hasn't changed.]

After sending the message, Nathaniel sighed in relief and waited for her reply, unsure of what painful words might come next.

Within a minute, Aurelia replied with a string of question marks: [What is the original password?]

Aurelia had never used his computer before. Even between spouses, there should be space, and she understood that boundary.

Nathaniel replied: [The computer's password is the same as the home lock's password.]

On the other end, Aurelia looked at the message from 'Zack,' her expression freezing. That so-called password was something she would never forget, as if it were etched into her memory.

It was the date she married him. That day, she felt like a fairy tale had come true.

She had set the door lock's password, and Nathaniel had teased her, saying it was too easy to guess and could let someone with ill intentions break in.

What she didn't expect was that he had set his computer to that password, despite his disdainful tone at the time, which made her heart inexplicably warm.

She brought over Nathaniel's computer and entered those numbers. The next second, the computer unlocked successfully.

Nathaniel had left in a hurry this time; she could tell. Zack's expression when reporting work was different from usual. She guessed something significant had happened in Imperick. But she had no interest or right to ask further.

Now, Zack was asking her to safeguard the computer and send an urgent email. It was a small favor she could do.

Aurelia opened the folder on his desktop, searching for the PPT dated today. Instead, she found a file named 'only love.'

Aurelia's fingers trembled slightly on the touch screen. She thought his only love must be Chelsea.

She wanted to move away but couldn't control her curiosity. Taking a quick peek shouldn't get her caught.

Aurelia opened the folder.

Inside were numerous Word documents, arranged in ascending order by date. There was also an audio file mixed in, standing out among the Word documents.

She first opened the audio file. Immediately, the sound of heartbeats came from the computer.

Aurelia broke down in an instant, tears streaming from her eyes.

It was the recording of their two babies' heartbeats. When Nathaniel used to stay out all night, she would hold her phone and listen to it to sleep, as if only then could she calm down.

It was saved in that old Facebook account. She never expected him to find it and save the recording. She cried for that dark period of her life, which had been her entire youth.
