Chapter 431 Mr. Heilbronn, You're a Bit Clingy
Nathaniel was thinking that Zack's wedding would be held in Imperick.
He had to go back for it, and since everyone finally had time, he wanted to spend time with Aurelia and the kids. It would be difficult for him if she couldn't go with him.
Aurelia raised an eyebrow, "Imperick is your hometown. Why can't you go back alone?"
Nathaniel looked aggrieved, "That's also your hometown. Can you come back with me? We can stay at the Bloom Villa."
Aurelia snorted, "Mr. Heilbronn, you're a bit clingy."
Nathaniel didn't deny it. He wanted to stick to her, and no one could drive him away. He pressed his forehead against hers and asked again, "Please, go back with me, okay?"
Aurelia couldn't promise she would have time in over a month. After all, she was now an entrepreneur with two companies, and her time was often not her own.
She said, "We'll see when the time comes. If I'm free, I'll go. Is the beef you cooked almost ready?"
Nathaniel checked his watch, estimated that the meat should be done, and hesitated for a few seconds before letting out a painful groan.
Aurelia turned to look at him, "What's wrong?"
Nathaniel clutched his knee, frowning and groaning, "Aurelia, it hurts!"
"Where does it hurt?" Aurelia's gaze fell on his knee, which he was holding protectively, "Did a durian thorn pierce your skin?"
Nathaniel stifled a laugh and nodded, "Maybe. I don't think I can bend my leg; it hurts when I move."
"Let me take a look."
Aurelia squatted down to roll up his pant leg, and Nathaniel scratched his eyebrow lightly,
"Aurelia, check the pot first. The beef might burn."
Prioritizing tasks, she glanced towards the kitchen, where the stove was still on, which was dangerous. "Wait here, I'll check the pot."
"Go ahead, it doesn't hurt much if I don't move. No rush."
The beef was indeed ready. Nathaniel's cooking skills were good, and the kitchen was filled with a rich aroma of tomato and beef, which whetted Aurelia's appetite even though she wasn't very hungry.
She lifted the lid and stirred the pot. The beef brisket was tender, and the broth was rich, just like what she used to eat at the Bloom Villa. This method was clearly taught by Betty.
Aurelia dished out the meat and called out to the living room through the glass door, "The meat is ready. I'll make a salad. Do you want to wait in the dining room?"
Nathaniel obediently sat in the dining room. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes constantly glancing towards the kitchen. In less than two minutes, Aurelia came out with a plate of salad.
Nathaniel couldn't help but smile, "Try my cooking."
Aurelia handed him the utensils, "How many dishes did you learn from Betty?"
Nathaniel had been studying cooking whenever he had free time but hadn't told her. Back at the Bloom Villa, he had asked Betty to write down the recipes for the dishes she liked, and for the more complicated ones, he even recorded videos.
His intention was clear: he wanted to win her heart through her stomach.
She was a picky eater, and when she was with him, she only liked Betty's cooking. Now he hoped to master these skills and cook for her himself.
He wanted to make feeding her a habit, hoping to spoil her taste buds so that she wouldn't be able to enjoy other flavors and would only want to come back to him when she was hungry.
Nathaniel smiled silently, picked up a piece of beef brisket, and tasted it. He had cooked this dish at home several times, failing many times.
This time, it turned out well, just as he had hoped. He had finally mastered it.
"Aurelia, sit next to me."
Aurelia switched seats, so they were sitting side by side.
Aurelia only ate a few bites because she had already eaten two large pieces of durian, and her calorie intake for the day was already over the limit. She needed to watch her figure.
"Does your knee still hurt?"
If she hadn't mentioned it, Nathaniel would have almost forgotten. He had wanted her to take care of him, but after a few minutes, he nearly gave himself away.
He stiffened his right leg and replied, "It hurts a bit."
"Do we have a first aid kit at home? Let me take a look. If there's a thorn, it needs to be removed and disinfected, or you might lose your leg."
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, "Let's eat first."
The thorn hadn't even pierced through his pants, so there was no need for disinfection.
Aurelia picked up a few large pieces of beef but reluctantly put down her fork. She had eaten too much today.
As soon as she put down her fork, Nathaniel added more meat to her bowl, "Aurelia, if you're anemic, you should eat more beef, pork, and lamb, as well as liver, to replenish your blood."
"How do you know I'm anemic?"
"Your brother told me."
Aurelia was surprised, "Since when did you and my brother get along so well that he talks to you about this?"
She recalled that every time she mentioned Nathaniel to Joe, he was extremely disdainful and didn't acknowledge him as his brother-in-law. It was surprising that they could talk about such topics.
"He said you've been anemic since you had the baby. Despite years of careful nurturing at home, the results haven't been great. Maybe it's because you work and take care of two kids, which is exhausting."
Aurelia smiled, "It's actually not that bad. We have a nanny to help with the kids. I'm just eager to build my career and afraid that if I take a year off, I'll be left behind in this industry. In this fast-changing era, you can miss a lot of trending news if you're offline for a day, let alone a year without working."
After returning to The Semona Family, Aurelia was treated like a rare animal, with the family wanting to hire a dozen caregivers to take care of her. It wasn't until a few months after giving birth, when her health had recovered, that they agreed to let her start a business and work.
Nathaniel added more meat to her bowl.
"Everything will be fine, but your health is the most important. You need to take care of your body first to conquer the world. Aurelia, I don't want you to be so tired."
Aurelia teased, "You're going to make me fat!"
"I can still carry you if you gain 10 pounds. Eat without worry."
"Then I'll gain 20 pounds."
Nathaniel smiled, "Then I'll lift weights every day until I can carry you."
After dinner, Aurelia took the initiative to clean the kitchen. While she cleaned, he watched quietly, enjoying the moment of tranquility.
She wore his apron and had her hair in a low ponytail, reminding him of the days at the Bloom Villa.
She always liked to sneak into the kitchen and make various dishes.
Sometimes, when she failed, she would secretly throw them away. On a few occasions, when she didn't have time to dispose of them, he would taste them. They were actually quite good, just not very presentable, and he ended up eating them all.
But she didn't know that; she thought Betty had taken care of them.
