Chapter 399 I'll Turn Myself In

Joe stepped out of the elevator and caught the falling Aurelia.

Aurelia had promised to come home for dinner, and Cathy waited all night without seeing her. When calls went unanswered, she immediately called Joe to come back and find her.

When Joe arrived at Aurelia's office building, he saw her car parked in the lot with the door open and unlocked, but she was nowhere to be found. He immediately sensed something was wrong and contacted the security to check the surveillance footage, following the trail to where he found her.

Joe was shocked. In Coral Bay, no one had the guts to mess with someone from The Semona Family. He wouldn't let the person who took his sister get away easily.

"Aurelia, are you okay?"

As he spoke, the suite door opened. Joe's eyes, filled with murderous intent, looked over, wishing he could kill with his gaze. When he saw Marcus come out, his eyes narrowed.

Great, another Heilbronn.

Marcus looked much calmer, though he still had a sickly appearance. He naturally recognized Joe, a legendary figure in the real estate world. Seeing Aurelia in Joe's arms, Marcus adjusted his glasses, maintaining his refined and gentle demeanor, as if the recent events had nothing to do with him.

Marcus asked, "Is Aurelia okay?"

Joe shot him a cold glance and ordered his two bodyguards in an icy tone, "Take him to the police station."

The two bodyguards responded immediately and stepped forward.

Marcus coughed lightly and said unhurriedly, "No need. I scared Aurelia. I'll turn myself in."

His words made the bodyguards hesitate. Joe had ordered them to take him to the police station, and they couldn't let him escape.

But this frail man gave them the impression that a single punch could knock him down. His sickly, fragile appearance made them reluctant to use force, fearing that even a slight push might kill him.

Joe, worried about Aurelia's condition, didn't care about anything else. He carried her back to the elevator, quickly pressing the button for the first floor. He needed to get her to the hospital for a full check-up to ensure she wasn't hurt.

His car was parked downstairs.

The driver saw him rushing out with Aurelia and drove the car over to meet them.

Joe said, "To the hospital."

The driver floored the gas pedal, speeding to the nearest hospital. As soon as the car stopped, Joe quickly got out and opened the door.

Joe carried her into the hospital building.

This was the second time he had taken Aurelia to the hospital after finding her. The familiar setting reminded Joe of the events four years ago.

Back then, she had struggled between life and death but ultimately survived.

If something happened again this time, he couldn't imagine the consequences. How would he explain it at his aunt's grave? How heartbroken would his grandmother be? How would the two adorable children cry for their mother?

During the drive, he thought about many things.

Even a battle-hardened man like him couldn't help but feel nervous, even though she appeared to be dressed neatly and showed no obvious signs of injury, he feared the worst.

If his beloved sister had indeed been harmed, he would not let the Heilbronn family off easily. They would pay with their lives!

Aurelia was wheeled into the examination room by a nurse. Joe stood in the cold hallway, unable to calm down.

About half an hour later, the door suddenly opened from the inside.

A doctor with a stethoscope around his neck walked out, "Mr. Semona, we conducted a full-body examination on Ms. Semona."

Joe strode over, "How is she?"

The doctor smiled, "Mr. Semona, there's no need to be too anxious. Ms. Semona is fine. She has no injuries and no signs of assault. Her current unconsciousness is likely due to extreme fright. I took a blood sample for testing, and the results will be out in about fifteen minutes. However, based on my judgment, she may have been drugged with something like a sedative. We can't rule out the possibility of other substances until the results are in."

Joe's dry throat moved, and much of his murderous intent dissipated, "Was the examination thorough? When will she wake up?"

The doctor replied, "Mr. Semona, please trust my expertise. Ms. Semona is weak and slightly anemic. I'll start her on an IV and transfer her to a regular ward. You can handle the admission procedures now. Once the blood test results are out, we can determine when she can be discharged."

At this moment, Joe didn't want to leave his sister's side.

He called the driver and asked him to handle the procedures.

While waiting, the bodyguard called, "Mr. Semona, we took him in. He confessed everything without much effort."

Joe was surprised. Marcus had some backbone, at least admitting to what he did and turning himself in without needing anyone to force him. That was something.

The driver completed all the procedures and came to find them. Joe wheeled Aurelia back to the ward.

Just as they settled in, the doctor came in with the test results.

"Mr. Semona, the test results are out. It's just a mild sedative, and the dosage is within safe limits. It won't have any significant impact on her body. Once she wakes up, give her plenty of water, and it will be flushed out quickly."

Joe finally calmed down after hearing this from the hospital. "How long does she need to stay in the hospital?"

"Observe for a day. If everything is fine, she can be discharged tomorrow evening."

Only then did he dare to call Cathy to reassure her, "Grandma, I found Aurelia. She was just tired from work and fell asleep at her desk. You all rest; don't wait up. I'll stay here with her."

He didn't dare to report the dangerous events of the day. If he did, Cathy would undoubtedly call the whole family to rush over.

Cathy was still awake, having stayed up past her usual bedtime, worried about Aurelia.

She needed a result before she could sleep.

Hearing Joe's words, she finally felt relieved and scolded, "It's her first day back at work, and she wore herself out. She should have stayed home for a few more days before going to the office."

Joe comforted her a bit more, "It's nothing serious. Aurelia is ambitious and wants to work hard, which is a good thing. It's late; you should rest. She'll call home tomorrow."

Cathy yawned and didn't doubt her grandson's words at all, "Alright, if there's nothing serious, I'll go to sleep."

Joe stayed in the ward until midnight. After Aurelia's IV was removed, she slowly woke up. She opened her eyes and looked around, the faint smell of disinfectant making her suspect she was in a hospital.

When she saw Joe sitting in a chair by the bed, dozing with his head tilted back, she felt a sudden sense of peace.

"Joe." Her voice was a bit hoarse and dry.

Joe opened his eyes at the sound, "Aurelia, how do you feel? Is there any discomfort?"
