Chapter 318 Mr. Heilbronn Came to Deliver Something Again
Nathaniel came to deliver things again.
The toys outside the door were piled up like a small mountain. Zack was directing a worker to unload boxes from an extended SUV.
Aurelia suspected that Nathaniel had emptied a toy store. Otherwise, how could he have brought so many toys?
If it weren't for the large space in the house, they wouldn't be able to fit all the toys Nathaniel had brought.
Aurelia opened the door and was startled by the sight in front of her. She hadn't seen clearly from upstairs, but now she noticed that there were boxes stacked as high as a person in the corner.
Most likely, they were all toys.
Aurelia said, "Nathaniel, what are you doing?"
Nathaniel looked very happy. Despite the big dark circlesand a face full of bruises, he couldn't hide his smile.
Nathaniel said, "Delivering toys."
Aurelia said angrily,
"Are you trying to make me open a kindergarten with all these toys?"
Aurelia had no idea about what happened at her doorstep last night and couldn't guess that Nathaniel was trying to compensate his son.
Nathaniel glanced back at the stuff being unloaded from the car and asked,
"Is it too much?"
What was this? He wished he could bring the whole world over.
Zack poked his head out from behind and asked with a grin,
"Mrs. Heilbronn, I'll have someone move these into the house and store them for you, so you don't have to do it yourself."
With that, he directed the workers to move the boxes into the yard. Aurelia watched as the two of them went in and out of her house, and soon the carload of stuff was piled up in her living room.
"Nathaniel, you really don't need to do this."
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and said,
"Boys need toys. As long as the kid is happy, that's all that matters."
Aurelia thought to herself, 'is this buying some toys? It's more like buying out a toy store.'
Aurelia said, "You're going to spoil my son like this, and having too many toys can make a child anxious and unfocused."
Nathaniel touched his nose. He had no experience in parenting and just wanted to give the best to his child. However, he had already asked Zack to buy some books on the subject, and he would study them when he got back. He didn't think it was a problem.
"How about you help put them away and give him one toy a day?"
Aurelia shook her head angrily, she would soon be taking Jacob back to Coral Bay, and this carload of toys was really troubling her.
Since they were already bought, she had no choice but to put them away.
Aurelia glanced at his bruised but still handsome face. When he had dropped her off last night, he had been fine, but now he looked like he'd been in a fight overnight.
She couldn't understand who in Imperick could be someone Nathaniel couldn't provoke.
"What happened to your face?" she asked,
Nathaniel said flatly,
"I got into a fight with someone, it's no big deal. A bit of ointment and it'll be fine in two days. It's just inconvenient for me to discuss business for a few days."
He was a straightforward person who would directly confront any dissatisfaction, but that was mostly in the business world where he would suppress the other party's business. It rarely came to physical altercations.
Only thugs fight, and he always disdained that.
Aurelia shook her head and said,
"Wait here."
She then ran back into the house.
Nathaniel wanted to follow her in but didn't dare . His eyes followed her slender figure inside. Last night, he had only seen a vague figure and still didn't know what his son looked like.
Did he look like his dad or his mom? Was his skin fair? Were his eyelashes as long as his mom's?
He was extremely curious.
He recalled Dorothy's appearance. Those eyes were a perfect inheritance from Aurelia, no wonder he felt a sense of familiarity the first time he saw her.
Aurelia came out with a first aid kit and saw Nathaniel, tall and long-legged, standing outside the door like a fool
Just then, Zack finished moving the stuff. Aurelia handed the first aid kit to Zack,
"Put some ointment on Mr. Heilbronn, don't let his face get worse."
Zack looked back at his boss and grinned,
"Mrs. Heilbronn, my hands are a bit dirty. If I get bacteria on Mr. Heilbronn's face, it might get infected."
Nathaniel hesitated and then tentatively asked,
"Aurelia, can I come in for a glass of water?"
Aurelia refused without hesitation,
"It's not convenient. If you're thirsty, I can bring the water out."
Nathaniel's throat moved, and he suddenly didn't feel thirsty anymore.
"Never mind, I don't want to trouble you."
After a few seconds, he asked again,
"Why hasn't your son come out? What's he doing inside? What are his hobbies? Does he like sports? Is he a picky eater? Does he like soccer?"
Aurelia was taken aback by the barrage of questions. Nathaniel seemed particularly concerned about Jacob today, and she couldn't figure out his intentions.
Aurelia became wary, saying,
"My child doesn't like strangers. Mr. Heilbronn, if there's nothing else, please leave. Thank you for the toys on his behalf. I'll treat you to a meal another day."
Aurelia was just making polite conversation., but Nathaniel took it seriously. He asked,
"Aurelia, how about we go for lunch today? I'll make a reservation at that popular family restaurant. They have lots of activities kids love, and the food is varied. You can bring your child, and after lunch, we can go to the amusement park. I'll have Zack book the whole place."
Aurelia frowned slightly, thinking to herself, does Nathaniel not understand? Her tone clearly indicated she was just trying to get rid of him, yet he took it seriously!
Wasn't he afraid of being surrounded by kids with his beaten-up face?
Aurelia said, "I'm a bit busy today, maybe another time!"
Nathaniel pursed his lips, his eyes still trying to peer inside past Aurelia. If he had known she would refuse so bluntly, he would have helped move the stuff in earlier to sneak a peek.
He felt very regretful.
"Can you help me apply the ointment?"
Nathaniel asked with a new request.
Aurelia looked at Nathaniel, who showed her his dirty hands.
Aurelia held back her annoyance, took out a cotton swab from the first aid kit, and gently applied some ointment to his wounds.
Nathaniel bent down to cooperate, his eyes fixed on her. His throat moved, and he really wanted to kiss her.
Aurelia, sensing his intense gaze, gave him a cold look and quickly finished applying the ointment.
Just then, Jacob shouted from inside, saying,
"Mommy, I can't open this box. Where are the scissors?"
Aurelia quickly picked up the first aid kit and ran inside.
Nathaniel stood there, hands on his hips, lost in thought, trying to hear the conversation inside but couldn't make out anything.
Zack walked over with his phone, trying to curry favor.
"Mr. Heilbronn, you can't see anything from here."
Nathaniel, still reluctant, saying,
"Let's wait a bit longer. Maybe my son will come out to play in the yard, and then I can see him."
Zack looked up at the blazing sun. It was already 100 degrees outside. Who would come out to play in this heat and risk a heatstroke?
"Mr. Heilbronn, I secretly recorded a short video. Do you want to see it?"
Nathaniel's eyes lit up and he said,
"Why didn't you say so earlier!"
Back in the car, Nathaniel eagerly opened his phone.
Zack had already sent the secretly recorded video to his Facebook.
Nathaniel leaned back in his seat, holding his phone, watching the screen with the mischievous little child, feeling a warmth in his heart.
