Chapter 234 Who Is Suing Her?

On their way home, sitting in the car, Aurelia was deeply troubled by the events of the day. She didn't know how long that kid named Thiago had been verbally bullying Jacob and Dorothy, nor was she sure if other kids in the class were also regarding them as bastard.

She was preoccupied the entire way.

In contrast, the two kids were quite happy. Jacob kept shouting about wanting to learn martial arts from Caleb to beat up bad guys and protect mommy.

After what had happened, Aurelia had no appetite for dinner, especially since Caleb had gotten injured while shielding her from that cup of hot water.

Caleb, despite his playful demeanor, was actually the most enduring. He only showed his good side in front of her.

However, Aurelia insisted on going to the hospital first to check his burn. When the hot water was spilled, she clearly saw Caleb's pained expression, pretending it didn't hurt when it obviously did.

Caleb refused repeatedly, "I didn't get burned. No biggie. Let's feed the kids first. Jacob, Dorothy, are you hungry?"

The two kids spoke honestly, "A little hungry."

Aurelia sighed deeply, then suggested, "How about we go to my place? I'll have the housekeeper prepare dinner, and the family doctor can take a look at your burn. It's summer now. Don't get it infected."

Caleb paused, feeling a warm current in his heart. After four years of pursuing her, always being the one to take the initiative, this was the first time he was invited to her home.

It seemed this burn was totally worth it.

He didn't hesitate any longer and drove directly to the Semona family's Villa.

Aurelia called the family doctor to apply some ointment on his wound. Caleb was indeed badly burned, with several blisters forming. Being a pampered man, Caleb surely couldn't withstand that cup of hot water.

However, the person who previously claimed to be fine was now screaming in pain as the family doctor applied the ointment. The louder he screamed, the more anxious Aurelia got.

Joe came home from work and heard the screams from the yard.

Curious about the unfamiliar male voice in the house, he followed the sound inside and saw Caleb lying on the sofa, with the family doctor carefully applying ointment to his back.

Aurelia stood nearby, her face full of concern.

Upon see that, Joe's expression turned cold in disapproval.

He strode over, gestured to the family doctor to let him handle it, and took the cotton swab, pressing it heavily on Caleb's burn.

Caleb almost fell off the sofa in pain.He turned around and saw a stern face. In his panic, he blurted out, "Bro!"

Joe raised the cotton swab, ready to press again. What the heck? Calling him bro? Who did this kid think he was?

Caleb scrambled to his feet and hid behind Aurelia, saying awkwardly, "Mr. Semona, what a coincidence!"

He didn't call him bro again, and Joe's anger subsided a bit. He sat on the sofa and interrogated, "My cousin brought you here?"

Caleb nodded in affirmation, looking smug.

Aurelia, afraid Joe would hit him again, quickly explained, "Joe, Jacob and Dorothy got into a fight with other kids at the preschool. He drove me there, and during the argument, he shielded me from a cup of hot water. If it weren't for him, it could have been me and the kids who got burned."

Hearing that, Joe's expression softened, and his hostility towards Caleb dissipated.

He asked, "Who dared to pour hot water on you?"

Aurelia answered truthfully, "It was another kid's parent, dissatisfied with the principal's handling of the situation."

"Were they expelled?" Joe asked seriously.

Aurelia hesitated and replied, "I haven't received feedback from the principal yet. I told him if they don't expel the other party, we'll transfer schools."

Joe immediately took out his phone and called his assistant, "Stop the funding for Rainbow Sprouts International Preschool, and take back the money we've already donated."

Caleb was shocked. Joe didn't even ask about the details before announcing the funding cut and even taking back the donated money.

Although the other party was at fault, his unconditional support for Aurelia was evident. With Joe watching over her, pursuing Aurelia was going to be incredibly difficult!

That evening, Caleb successfully stayed for dinner at the Semona Family Villa.

This time, he used his injury as an excuse to avoid drinking the wine Joe offered. Joe, being cunning, had no good intentions.

Having been tricked once, Caleb was determined not to fall for it again.

In Joe's eyes, his impression of Caleb dropped further. A man who hesitated to drink couldn't achieve anything significant. He was far from being worthy of Aurelia!

The day after the fight, the principal came to apologize with gifts, repeatedly emphasizing that Thiago had been expelled and promising that such incidents would not happen again.

However, Aurelia had lost trust in this kindergarten and planned to find a new one.

For the next few days, Jacob and Dorothy stayed home and played to their hearts content.

Aurelia didn't work overtime and spent her free time searching online for well-reviewed preschools, focusing on the quality of the parents.

Children were like blank canvases, and their behavior was taught by their parents. It's often said that parents are a child's first teachers. If the parents had skewed values, the children wouldn't turn out well either.

She noted down the good preschools she found and planned to discuss them with Joe to choose the best one.

At that time, her assistant, Aurora, hurriedly knocked on the door, reporting nervously, "Anne, we've received a court summon."

Aurelia was stunned, finding it unbelievable. She was a law-abiding citizen, paying taxes and never doing anything wrong. How could she receive a court summon? It must be a mistake.

She took the already opened package from Aurora, pulled out the documents inside, and the more she read, the more she felt headache.

Someone was suing her for plagiarism, and the court date was in a week.

Aurelia found it laughable, suspecting someone was playing a prank on her.

She had been keeping a low profile in recent years, almost turning herself invisible, avoiding being in the top of her industry to run a small studio, never posting her work on any online platforms to avoid attracting attention.

The clients she worked with were very loyal, often returning for second, third, and even fourth projects, showing extreme trust in her.

Who would sue her?

Aurelia suspected it might be a competitor who couldn't keep up and wanted to retaliate out of jealousy.

She had nothing to fear, as she could prove her innocence by drawing her designs on the spot if needed.

Aurelia casually put the summons in a drawer, not even planning to hire a lawyer. She was confident she could prove she hadn't plagiarized any of her designs.

Time flew by, and soon a week had passed.

Aurelia arranged her work in advance, freeing up half a day to attend the court hearing.

She brought paper, pens, and her previous design drafts and even some finished products, well-prepared, just in case.

In the courtroom, she sat at the defendant's seat, looking at the empty plaintiff's seat, curious about who was suing her.
