Chapter 505 Beg Her

Reed had eaten a bit and was leaning back, feeling better as he watched the two babies.

Just then, Aurelia's phone rang. She glanced at it and saw that Beatrice was calling again. She hung up, but less than a minute later, the phone rang again.

It felt out of place in the hospital room.

Aurelia stepped out with her phone and answered it.

"Beatrice, stop calling me. I'm not clinging to your son, and I'm not taking over your family's assets. I can't talk right now. I'm blocking you, so stop calling."

Before she could hang up, Beatrice's voice came through the phone.

"Wait, wait, Aurelia, please listen to me first."

Aurelia thought she had misheard. That morning, Beatrice had called to yell at her, accusing her of telling Nathaniel something that made him ignore his own uncle and mother.

Now, Beatrice was speaking nicely to her. It was like the sun had risen in the west.

Aurelia got goosebumps.

Beatrice's voice came through the phone again.

"Aurelia, I'm begging you. For the sake of our family, please help Nathaniel's uncle. He's working under Joe and got into some trouble. It wasn't intentional. Your uncle is in a tough spot now, and you..."

Before Beatrice could finish, Aurelia interrupted.

"Beatrice, let me correct you. Nathaniel and I are divorced. Your brother's issues have nothing to do with me."

There were a few seconds of silence on the other end. Beatrice had lowered herself to ask for help, something she would never do unless it was serious.

"Aurelia, I'm begging you. I treated you well during your years with the Heilbronn family, didn't I? You were my son's wife, and I saw you as my own daughter, just like Ashley. I have no other options now. I'm not in the country, and Nathaniel won't listen to me. Your uncle's situation is urgent. I believe if you say a few good words to Joe, your uncle will be fine. It's a small favor for you. I owe you one, and if you ever need anything, I won't refuse."

Aurelia chuckled.

"Beatrice, what could I possibly need from you? Just stay out of my sight and stop calling me, and I'll be happy. Thaddeus went too far this time. He broke the law. Joe isn't harsh on his employees. If it weren't Thaddeus's fault, Joe wouldn't be so firm. Let Thaddeus face the consequences of his actions."

As Aurelia was speaking, Nathaniel came out of the room, walked up to her, and took the phone from her ear.

"Mom, stop calling this number. I'm blocking you."

"Nathaniel, don't, don't hang up..."

Nathaniel hung up, blocked the number, and handed the phone back to Aurelia.

"Aurelia, don't waste your breath on my mom. She won't listen. Just handle this as you see fit."

Aurelia put the phone in her pocket.

"Actually, your mom called me this morning, blaming me for telling you to ignore your uncle."

Nathaniel's eyelid twitched.

"Aurelia, if she calls again, just hang up. Don't think about it."

"I've blocked her. She shouldn't call again."

"Good, let's go back inside."

In the hospital room, Reed was being entertained by the two kids. They were the best at making him happy.

The family of four stayed in the room until it got dark. A nurse came to remind Reed it was time to rest.

Aurelia took the two babies out, leaving Marcus to watch over Reed.

Nathaniel drove them back to the Semona Family home.

Three days passed, and Reed still refused to eat. He only ate a few bites when the kids came after school to coax him.

Today, Reed hadn't eaten yet, and Nathaniel was very worried.

Seeing it was almost time for the kids to get out of school, he called The Velvet Palate to order Reed's dinner.

Karma and Jewelry had Aurelia extremely busy these days.

Eight counters nationwide had been successfully designed, and professional salespeople were hired. Everything was on track.

Sales were good, and the counters kept urging for more stock. The factory was working around the clock and still struggling to keep up.

And that was just with eight counters.

Many people were posting pictures of their purchases online, and there was a long waiting list for orders.

The pressure was now on the factory.

Aurelia had sent a subordinate to oversee the factory, and the HR department was hiring as fast as possible. No one expected the counters to sell out so quickly.

It was a state of high demand and low supply.

As the workday ended, Aurelia packed up, waiting for Nathaniel to pick her up.

These days, they picked up the kids from school together and visited Reed in the hospital.

Aurelia locked her half-finished design in a drawer and packed her bag.

There was a knock on the office door.

"Come in!"

As she spoke, the door opened gently.

Aurelia was momentarily stunned by the person at the door.

Aurora stood behind, looking apologetic, mouthing, "Sorry, I couldn't stop her."

Beatrice, dragging a suitcase, looked travel-worn, as if she had come straight from the airport.

She was indeed desperate.

Beatrice took off her sunglasses and put them in her bag.

"Aurelia, I hope I'm not interrupting your work?"

Beatrice had caused a scene before, and everyone was wary. They all thought she was here to cause trouble again. Her polite tone surprised everyone.

It turned out this aunt could speak nicely too.

Aurelia was indifferent. She hadn't expected Beatrice to come directly.

"Beatrice, you should leave. There's no point in talking to me. I don't get involved in my brother's company, and I won't handle this matter."

Beatrice smiled warmly.

"Aurelia, we don't need to be so hostile. We both care about the same person and should be on the same side. Nathaniel wants us to treat each other sincerely. Besides, we know each other well and could be friends.

I'm here to apologize. Please don't send me away. I know I was wrong before. I've reflected a lot. As an elder, I shouldn't have made things difficult for you. Making things hard for you was making things hard for my own son."

With that, Beatrice took out a beautifully wrapped box from her bag.

"I know you like collecting jewelry and that you don't lack anything in this industry. I found this gemstone while vacationing in Santorini. It reminded me of you. Please accept this gift from me. Let's put our past misunderstandings behind us."

She opened the box to reveal a rare, high-quality emerald.

Aurelia gave a tight-lipped smile and pushed the jewelry box back to her.
