Chapter 204 Let Everyone Down

Zack didn't say a word. He took a divorce agreement out of his briefcase and handed it to her.

Seeing that, Chelsea trembled with anger.

She had only been married to him for a few days, and now the divorce papers had arrived.

'At least that short-lived Aurelia lasted three years, and I'm only fit to be Mrs. Heilbronn for three days?' Chelsea couldn't believe it.

Zack calmly added, "Mr. Heilbronn's assets were all given to Mrs. Heilbronn before the divorce, and it has been notarized. Although she didn't spend it or even know about its existence, this wealth has nothing to do with you. Mr. Heilbronn left with nothing."

"As for the marital property you mentioned, it can be divided from the three days you were married to Mr. Heilbronn. However, Mr. Heilbronn has been absent for three days, so he hasn't earned a penny."

Chelsea took a deep breath, trying to steady her rising anger. She thought, 'That bitch has left this world and has already divorced him, yet here she is, being referred to as Mrs. Heilbronn by his assistant. What does that make me, the so-called legitimate wife?'

She opened the divorce agreement and read through it page by page, each clause filled with hatred towards her.

[The marriage will officially end when the child in the female party's womb is born.]

[The child is to be taken by the wife, with the husband responsible for child support.]

[The child shall take the mother's surname and not bear the Heilbronn name.]

[During the marriage's duration, the couple need not meet. The husband's affairs will be fully managed by his assistant, Zack.]

[The wife is not allowed to meet with any family members of the husband.]

Chelsea couldn't read any further. What shocked her was that Nathaniel didn't even want the child she bore, wouldn't let the child take his surname, and didn't plan to see her again. The words implied he didn't even want to see the child she gave birth to.

'How could he be so heartless?' she thought. He loathed her to the extreme, hating everything related to her, including the child she bore.

She wiped away her tears and asked indignantly, "Isn't he afraid I'll jump into a lake, the ocean, or off a building?"

Zack coldly replied, "Miss Thompson, feel free. If you jump, Mr. Heilbronn will be relieved. After all, he doesn't have much will to live right now."

In a fit of rage, Chelsea tore up the divorce agreement and threw the pieces into the air.

The doorway of the ward was littered with paper scraps.

Zack remained unfazed by her outburst. He had anticipated that she wouldn't sign the agreement willingly.

He said, "Fine, I have an electronic version on my computer. You've seen the contents, Miss Thompson. Go home and think it over; don't lose your dignity."

Chelsea crouched on the ground, crying bitterly.

She had only been Mrs. Heilbronn for three days and hadn't enjoyed a single day of its privileges. Only she knew how much effort she had put into obtaining this title.

How could she be willing to give it up?

She thought that as long as Aurelia gave up the marriage, she could take her place and win his heart.

Who would've thought that Aurelia took his heart with her when she died?

Nathaniel now utterly despised Chelsea, and even the chance to see him had become a luxury.

She cried on the floor for a long time, and Zack watched coldly the entire time. He was determined to guard the door and wouldn't let this disgusting woman in, no matter what.

The elevator doors opened, and more people walked towards them. Zack looked over and saw Nathaniel's friend Oscar and Aurelia's good friend Ulysses, both moving with an air of menace.

Zack knew the relationship between these two and Nathaniel and his wife, so he had no reason to stop them, opening the door to let them in.

Ulysses entered and was about to smash the medicine bottle hanging on the rack, but it turned out the half-bottle was just hanging there and hadn't been administered to Nathaniel.

The six-foot-tall man was so angry he was in tears.

Ulysses and Aurelia were college friends who met at a design competition. They admired each other's work and became close friends, encouraging each other to improve over the years.

Watching her fall deeper and deeper in love with a man, abandoning her principles until her death, he felt a deep pain in his heart.

Ulysses scolded, "Are you satisfied now? Aurelia died because of you!"

Nathaniel stared blankly, giving no reaction to Ulysses's rage.

Ulysses became even angrier and picked up a water cup from the table, throwing the entire cup of water in his face.

"Why are you giving me that look? Aurelia was such a good girl, and you ruined her. From the moment she met you, she gave you her whole heart, even putting her career on hold. When you were drunk out of your mind in the middle of the night, she endured severe menstrual pain to carry you home from the club."

"She delivered things to your sister and was almost assaulted by your mistress."

"When you had your appendix removed, she stayed by your bedside day and night. Where were you when she needed you? Where were you when she was humiliated by your mistress? Where were you when the hitman hired by that bitch was stalking her?"

Nathaniel remained motionless, staring at the ceiling without any reaction.

Ulysses, if it weren't for the fear of legal trouble, would have loved to take off his shoes and beat Nathaniel senseless with the thick soles, sending him to the underworld to beg Aurelia for forgiveness.

Oscar, who had been struggling to hold back, finally snapped, "Mr. Heilbronn, we're friends, and I've warned you multiple times not to push things too far. Your wife is first a woman and only secondarily your spouse. She needs care and will be hurt. You've got a mistress deliberately tormenting her—what woman can tolerate that? If it were me, I'd have poisoned your drinking water by now."

"Now she's gone just like that, and we can't forgive you. Our friendship ends here."

Ulysses calmed down a bit and added, "As long as you're still alive, get up and use all your connections and means to find out the truth. Aurelia's death is suspicious. She must have been harmed by someone with ill intentions. The culprit is still out there, maybe even right around you."

Nathaniel finally showed a bit of reaction. He struggled to sit up, his whole body shaking.

Zack hurried over to support him and said, "Mr. Heilbronn, if you have any instructions, please tell me. Your current condition doesn't allow you to leave the hospital on your own."

Nathaniel, eyes bloodshot, responded, "Check which cemetery in Imperick has a new grave."

He was still thinking about her whereabouts. He had a lot to say and wanted to go to her grave to confess.

Meanwhile, Reed was dialing Aurelia's phone again, still getting no answer.

Ted had already heard the news of Aurelia's death and was deeply saddened. But for Reed, it was a devastating blow, and he didn't dare to speak carelessly.

Ted comforted, "Mr. Reed Heilbronn, Mrs. Aurelia Heilbronn must have lost her phone and hasn't replaced it yet. Let's wait for her to call."

Reed was already suspicious, asking, "Ted, why hasn't Nathaniel called in days, and why can't I reach him? Did he lose his phone too?"

Ted kept his mouth shut, not daring to speak.

Reed instructed, "Go get my discharge papers. I want to go home."

Ted hurriedly advised, "Mr. Reed Heilbronn, the doctor said you should stay until the end of the week. Let's follow the doctor's suggestions."

Reed gave him a look and snorted, "Get it done now. The smell of disinfectant gives me a headache. It's more comfortable at home."

With no other options, Ted agreed, arranging for Reed to stay at the Heilbronn Villa without leaving the property. Given Reed's improved condition and the family doctor being on call, Ted headed downstairs to process the discharge.

As soon as he left, Reed took off his hospital gown, changed into his clothes, and left the room alone.

Reed hailed a cab at the hospital entrance and gave the driver the address of the villa he had bought for Aurelia.

Can't win me back
