Chapter 372 Not Knowing Whom to Hug

When Aurelia brought Dorothy downstairs, an hour had already passed.

The father and son waiting downstairs were growing impatient.

Nathaniel had warmed up some milk, with a cup for each of the four family members. He watched as Jacob and Dorothy finished their milk, washed their cups, and then tentatively asked, "Is it time for bed?"

The two children, not understanding their father's intentions, thought he just wanted them to rest early, so they obediently crawled into the tent and lay down in their spots.

Once inside, Dorothy anxiously emphasized, "Mommy, you and Daddy both have to come. I want us to be together."

Aurelia also crawled in, lying next to Dorothy. The living room lights were turned off, and a faint moonlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Jacob, tired from playing all day, quickly fell into a steady sleep.

In contrast, Dorothy was a bit excited. She usually clung to her mother, and after lying down, she wanted Aurelia to hold her to sleep. Aurelia wrapped one arm around her and gently patted her.

After a while, the little one was still talking, "Mommy, I want you and Daddy to hold me together."

Aurelia was momentarily stunned, but Nathaniel reacted quickly, extending his long arm to wrap around Dorothy, thus also pulling Aurelia into his embrace.

He found the distance too far and moved closer, his chest almost touching Aurelia's back.

"Daddy's here, Dorothy. Go to sleep." His deep voice sounded in her ear, accompanied by a faint warmth that brushed against her earlobe. Aurelia's mind immediately sounded an alarm.

She wanted to turn around and warn him, but Dorothy, half-asleep, mumbled, "I want Daddy and Mommy to hold me together."

Aurelia held back and continued to gently pat her.

Finally, the little one in her arms fell into a deep sleep. Nathaniel's hand moved back a bit, resting directly on Aurelia. It was unclear who he was actually holding.

Aurelia could feel the burning heat from behind, like a hot iron.

He didn't keep his distance; instead, he moved even closer.

She reached out to push his firm forearm away, but Nathaniel grabbed her hand in return.

He didn't speak, just held her tightly, using his senses to trace her delicate fingers, one by one, in the darkness.

Aurelia felt like the meat in a hamburger, tightly pressed on both sides, with a child on one side and a man on the other, unable to push either away.

She finally couldn't stand it and whispered in protest, "Nathaniel, move over. You're crossing the line."

Nathaniel chuckled seductively and whispered in her ear, "I can't move over. Jacob said there are monsters, and I'm scared."

Jacob had indeed mentioned monsters before bed, which was why he had moved both robots to guard the door.

Aurelia remained silent.

What kind of excuse was that? She couldn't believe such a blatant lie. At least come up with a more reasonable excuse. For someone his size to claim fear, wasn't he embarrassed?

"Nathaniel!" Aurelia warned him sternly again, her tone suggesting she was about to get angry.

Nathaniel chuckled softly and conceded, "Alright, I'll move over."

Before Aurelia could react, he hooked his long arm around her, and they both rolled to the edge of the tent, creating a gap between them and the two children.

Nathaniel propped his head up with one hand, while the other rested on her waist, maintaining a holding position.

Aurelia glared at him, "Nathaniel, are you crazy?"

She saw Nathaniel looking down at her, his eyes growing darker. She knew how dangerous that look was. Aurelia felt a bit nervous.

At that moment, Jacob turned over, mumbling incoherently in his sleep.

Afraid of waking the children, they both stayed still in that position.

Aurelia could clearly feel his heartbeat, syncing with hers, quickly forming a rhythm.

After a few minutes, when Jacob stopped turning and fell into a deep sleep, Aurelia pushed against his chest, "Nathaniel, no!"

Nathaniel's gaze was deep, and after a long pause, he asked in a low voice, "Aurelia, how about a kiss?"

Before she could answer, Nathaniel's lips pressed down.

The kiss deepened gradually. Aurelia initially tried to push him away but couldn't. She was also afraid of making too much noise and waking the two children. Eventually, she accepted reality and stopped struggling.

Nathaniel hadn't intended to rush, but when Dorothy asked to be held, and his arm fell on Aurelia, he couldn't resist. The desire he had suppressed for four years was awakened, his body screaming to pull her close.

Feeling a tingling sensation on his lips, Nathaniel finally released his grip on her. The taste of iron spread in his mouth. Nathaniel regained his senses, realizing he had almost lost control.

Aurelia looked at him with grievance. He thought she was about to lose her temper, but she whispered, "Nathaniel, let's talk outside."

With the two precious children sleeping nearby, she didn't dare to make a big scene. Besides, the kids were now more aware, and even though it was just a kiss, it wasn't appropriate for them to see such a scene.

Nathaniel took a moment, then crawled out of the tent, followed by Aurelia.

The living room was slightly brighter than the tent. At this moment, Nathaniel saw her flushed cheeks and a bit of blood on her lips—his blood.

Nathaniel wiped it with his thumb, noticing his lips were still bleeding. She had been quite rough.

Aurelia sighed in relief and whispered, "Nathaniel, you can't do that again, especially in front of the kids."

She couldn't continue her sentence. She turned to the kitchen to get some water, feeling parched from the earlier commotion.

Nathaniel watched her back, smirking, and followed her the next second.

Aurelia didn't turn on the light, using the moonlight to fill a glass of water. She leaned against the counter, her mind still replaying the chaotic scene from earlier, unable to shake it off.

As she was lost in thought, Nathaniel walked in with long strides and closed the kitchen door behind him.

He approached, took the glass from her hand, and drank from it.

Aurelia was annoyed, "Nathaniel, aren't you being a bit too much? I haven't agreed to anything yet."

Nathaniel didn't argue, admitting his mistake, "My bad."

"You can't do that again. You need to be mindful of the kids, okay?"

"Got it. I'll avoid the kids next time."

"What kind of attitude is that?"

"Aurelia, I'll listen to you."

Aurelia felt powerless. No matter what she said, he would unconditionally agree, seeming to sincerely admit his mistake but with an air of defiance.

Nathaniel took a few more sips of water, then placed the glass on the counter with a crisp sound. It wasn't loud, but it was particularly noticeable in the quiet night.

Aurelia watched him warily. The next second, Nathaniel bent down, placing his hands on the counter behind her, facing her directly.

"Aurelia, the kids aren't here now. Can we..."

Can't win me back
