Chapter 313 Makeup Smudged

Nathaniel directly opened the backseat door and got in himself, so he could sit closer to Aurelia.

"Aurelia, there's no one here now. Can you tell me?"

Aurelia cleared her throat and said,

"Why did you send Zack away? You haven't been drinking, have you?"

Nathaniel felt a warmth in his heart. She still cared about him, worried that he might feel uncomfortable if he drank. But leaving Zack here really would ruin the atmosphere.

Looking at the particularly stunning Aurelia today, he resisted the urge to kiss her and said,

"It's a bit late, so I let Zack off work. I can drive."

Aurelia didn't respond immediately. After a while, she said,

"Nathaniel, does your family know about Marcus's illness? Does he have a split personality?"

Nathaniel was taken aback and said,

"Is this what you wanted to talk to me about?"

Aurelia thought to herself, 'What kind of expression is that? Is this not worth discussing?'

Aurelia asked, "I think Marcus has a mental illness, more serious than yours. Shouldn't you get a doctor to check on him?"

Nathaniel's restless heart gradually calmed down. So, she was excited to talk about Marcus.

Marcus was definitely sick. What kind of decent person would like his nephew's wife?

"Has he been bothering you again?"

Aurelia clasped her hands together and said seriously,

"I met him on the rooftop just now. He said some strange words again. It's like he's a different person, a bit obsessed."

Nathaniel asked, "What did he say?"

Aurelia took a deep breath, struggling to recall.

"He said we got married in Elvenia and that he bought property there. He said he would take me there to live soon."

Nathaniel's nerves tensed up. Hearing those infuriating words, he wanted to find Marcus and punch him in the mouth.

"Aurelia, don't worry. If he comes to you again, call me. I won't let him do anything bad to you."

Aurelia really felt uneasy about Marcus. She could sense that beneath his gentle exterior was a mad soul capable of anything.

"Do you know anything about Marcus's time abroad?"

Nathaniel thought for a moment and said,

"As far as I remember, he was always abroad for treatment. He went abroad when I was in middle school. Initially, he came back once a year, but then he didn't return for several years, saying he was traveling the world with someone. I don't know who he met or what kind of life he led abroad, but it must have been quite comfortable."

Aurelia raised her eyebrows. She thought the Heilbronn family would know about Marcus's marriage abroad. So, Marcus didn't bring that mysterious woman home or even tell Reed about her.

Aurelia was really curious if that woman looked exactly like her, which might have caused Marcus to have such a delusion, thinking she was that woman.

Aurelia pondered for a while and then said,

"I think he'll come looking for me again."

With Marcus looking so crazy, he definitely wouldn't let it go. He was definitely going to come after her and might even forcibly take her away against her will.

Aurelia was quite worried. She wanted to return to Coral Bay immediately after handling the Thompson Enterprises matter in Imperick. During this time, she hoped nothing unexpected would happen.

She was now a mother of two children, and she had to be cautious, not daring to put herself in danger.

Nathaniel's eyes flickered as he stared into Aurelia's eyes. Her thick eyelashes cast a shadow under the moonlight.

"I'll have someone keep an eye on him. Aurelia, your makeup is a bit smudged."

The topic changed so quickly that Aurelia was momentarily stunned.

"Where is my makeup smudged?"

Nathaniel moved closer and wiped the corner of her eye. The perfect eye makeup was smudged with a faint black mark.

"Aurelia, why don't you sit in the front seat and check? There's a mirror there."

Aurelia opened the door to sit in the front passenger seat. She was familiar with Nathaniel's Bentley and directly opened the glove compartment. Seeing the familiar mirror inside, her hand froze for a moment before taking it out.

By this time, Nathaniel had already sat in the driver's seat and turned on the car's light to help her see the mirror.

"How is it? Is it smudged?"

He thoughtfully handed her a pack of wet wipes.

"You still have this little mirror?"

Aurelia remembered it was Chelsea's. His car always had Chelsea's personal items. The glove compartment in the front passenger seat was almost exclusively Chelsea's, with a set of combs and mirrors, and sometimes even sanitary pads.

Nathaniel looked at her innocently and asked,

"Is there something wrong with this mirror?"

Aurelia sneered, took a wet wipe, and wiped the corner of her eye. After a while, she slowly said,

"Isn't this Chelsea's mirror? It seems she really is your true love."

Nathaniel started the car, pressing the gas pedal a bit too hard, causing the car to lurch out of the parking spot.

"Aurelia, this isn't her mirror, and she's not my true love!"

Aurelia raised an eyebrow, thinking to herself, 'Why deny it?'

"We're already divorced. What's the point of pretending? Can't Mr. Heilbronn be a bit more honest?"

Nathaniel held the steering wheel with both hands and laughed helplessly.

"Aurelia, do you really not remember this mirror?"

"I remember. Chelsea put it there. I didn't expect Mr. Heilbronn to be so sentimental, keeping it until now."

Nathaniel felt exasperated and said,

"Aurelia, do you remember when I went on a business trip to the South Side, and you came along? One night, you insisted on going to the night market and ended up buying out an old lady's entire stall in excitement."

Aurelia had already wiped off the smudged eyeliner and was playing with the mirror in her hand.

Aurelia said, "What does that have to do with this? Are you saying I bought this mirror?"

Nathaniel said, "Didn't you buy this mirror?"

Aurelia's breath caught. She looked closely at the mirror, which indeed had the unique style of the South Side's ethnic minorities, with some green gemstones inlaid on the back.

Seeing those green gemstones, Aurelia immediately dismissed her previous thought. How could an old lady's stall at the night market have such valuable items? Anyone who bought it would make a fortune.

"Stop lying to me. With the quality of these green gemstones, each one would sell for at least tens of thousands of dollars on the market. This mirror is worth at least two hundred thousand dollars. Are you telling me it was bought at a stall? Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Nathaniel's eyes twinkled and said,

"Of course, it's no longer a stall item. Didn't you say it would look more antique if it had some gemstones? I had it reworked according to your taste."

Aurelia froze in place. She never thought Nathaniel would take her words to heart. She had no memory of this and must have said it casually at the time.
