Chapter 279 Not Qualified

Zack asked, "Mr. Heilbronn, should we bid on that land in the south of the city?"

Nathaniel barely gave it a thought and replied, "Why not?"

Joe had his eye on that piece of land, and Nathaniel was determined to win it just to give Joe some trouble. After all, Joe had come looking for trouble with the Heilbronn Group for no reason. The Heilbronn Group wasn't a place just anyone could mess with.

He hung up the phone.

Nathaniel walked to the first floor and suddenly heard a familiar voice at the reception. Turning his head, he saw it was indeed Aurelia.

Aurelia and an older man were arguing over who would pay. In the end, the receptionist took the man's card.

Nathaniel paused for a moment, standing at a distance to observe the man.

Men know men best. The guy had his hair slicked back, was dressed formally, and had a shiny forehead—clearly trying to impress.

The key was that Nathaniel heard the man call out Aurelia's name. The voice was exactly the same as the one he had heard on the phone that day.

Nathaniel's heart felt both sour and swollen, and he uncontrollably wondered about their relationship. Why were they dressed so formally to have dinner together? The way they talked made it seem like they were close, right?

A series of questions left him unsettled.

"Nathaniel!" A female voice behind him snapped him back to reality.

Ruth came out, holding a jewelry box.

"Nathaniel, my mom bought this necklace from Beatrice, and Beatrice said she didn't know the price, so she asked me to pay you." Ruth opened Facebook to scan and add him as a friend.

Nathaniel frowned slightly and opened the payment code. "This necklace is officially priced at $89,999," he said.

Ruth's face turned slightly red. "Got it," she said.

She scanned Nathaniel's QR code with her phone but realized something was wrong. Her excited heart instantly cooled. She glanced up at Nathaniel, who was staring impatiently in another direction, as if he were eager to chase someone.

He hadn't even looked at her properly.

Ruth's expression turned cold as she entered her password to pay, then tentatively asked, "Nathaniel, how should I care for this necklace in the future? Could you send me the cleaning steps and precautions?"

"You can take it to any Heilbronn Group offline store for maintenance; free for life."

As Nathaniel spoke, his face suddenly darkened. Aurelia was looking their way.

"Aurelia." He felt inexplicably nervous, afraid that she might misunderstand again.

Aurelia's gaze shifted between them, and then she gave him a mechanical and fake smile.

Patrick could see the tension between them. He stepped forward and took Aurelia's arm. "Aurelia, it's time to go," Patrick said.

Nathaniel's pupils contracted sharply, and he felt like he was suffocating.

He hadn't seen him clearly before, but now he recognized the man as someone familiar, possibly from a financial magazine.

He quickly chased after them.

Nathaniel said, "Aurelia, where are you going? I'll take you!"

Aurelia laughed and said, "No need, I'll ride with my friend. Mr. Heilbronn is so busy, I wouldn't want to waste your dating time."

Nathaniel was momentarily at a loss for words as he watched helplessly while Aurelia left with the man and got into a G-Wagon in the parking lot.

However, Aurelia sat in the car, her face quite pale.

She pretended not to care, but she couldn't fool herself. Nathaniel couldn't change his habit of attracting women. He clung to her while dating other women.

A fickle man.

"Aurelia, where do you want to go?" Patrick said.

Aurelia felt a lump in her throat and didn't know how to respond.

Patrick licked his lips and said, "How about you show me around? It's my first time in Imperick, and I don't know much about it. I've only seen it on TV."

Aurelia tried to suppress her emotions and replied weakly, "Just drive anywhere, it doesn't matter."

Patrick's eyes twinkled, and he stepped on the gas, leaving with a triumphant glance in the rearview mirror.

They arrived at a large mall.

Patrick said, "Aurelia, get out."

Aurelia couldn't hide her disappointment, feeling a pent-up frustration.

Patrick took her directly to an amusement park.

Patrick said, "Do you want to vent?"

Aurelia looked at him in confusion. The next second, Patrick pushed her into a small cubicle. Inside the cubicle were two swivel chairs, some headphones, and microphones.

She had never been to a place like this and didn't know what it was for.

Patrick didn't wait for her to ask and introduced it. "This is a venting room. You can say all your frustrations out loud. No one can hear you, so just say whatever you want, no matter how dirty it is!"

"Really?" she said.

Patrick nodded and put the headphones on her, saying, "Can you hear me?"

Aurelia saw his lips move but heard nothing, then saw Patrick put on his headphones too.

She let her guard down.

After a while, she finally started to speak, "I want all lying men to explode on the spot. Let those self-righteous rich ladies go bankrupt overnight and live off picking up trash. Let those women who only know how to mock others rot their mouths."

After talking for a long time, she still felt unsatisfied and directly named him. "Make Nathaniel go bankrupt. Make him impotent starting today, despised and dumped by women, and lonely for the rest of his years. Let Nathaniel pick up trash for a living, reincarnate as a pig in his next life, and sleep in filth, waiting to be slaughtered. Let him run out of toilet paper, choke on water, and wake up bald tomorrow."

She vented freely, unaware that everything she said was transmitted to Patrick's ears through the headphones.

Patrick stifled his laughter, almost hurting himself. His affection for Aurelia grew; even her cursing was adorable, a hundred times cuter than her brother.

Meanwhile, He quickly found out that the man dining with Aurelia was Joe's subordinate, Patrick, a well-known figure in Coral Bay's financial circle.

He returned to the company, where the meeting had ended, and Zack had conveyed the final plan.

Nathaniel sat dejectedly in his leather chair, feeling increasingly distant from her. He no longer had the right to ask about the people around her.

He used to be so possessive that he couldn't stand any man around her, even feeling jealous of Ulysses. He didn't like her wearing makeup to be seen by other men and forbade other men from calling her name intimately. After all, he had no rights.

Aurelia's smile had pierced him.

Her expression was mocking, making him feel guilty, even though he hadn't done anything wrong at the time.

He fell into endless self-reflection.

He knew his current situation was full of threats.

Most of Aurelia's friends opposed their reconciliation, and many excellent men were vying for her attention. His image in Aurelia's mind had completely collapsed.

He lacked the right timing, the right place, and the right people.

He even envied the men around Aurelia, who could befriend her without any psychological burden.

He wanted a chance to pursue her again.

Can't win me back
