Chapter 434 Nathaniel Won
Aurelia was furious. "Can you pick a better time? There was an elder here, and you actually..."
Aurelia was at a loss for words and finally said, "Shameless!"
Nathaniel watched her tantrum with a smirk the whole time, then walked over and hugged her from behind.
"Aurelia, this is no big deal. We didn't do anything, just a kiss. Grandpa is experienced; he won't mind and will forget about it by tomorrow. With our current relationship, what's wrong with a kiss?"
Aurelia, still angry, pried his hands off her waist.
"Nathaniel, I think we need to set some rules between us. We can't just act recklessly anytime, anywhere."
Nathaniel turned her around so they were face to face, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "What rules?"
"No intimate actions in inappropriate places, like the office or in front of the kids. You need to control yourself. If you can't, then don't touch me."
Nathaniel's shoulders shook with laughter.
"But we weren't in an inappropriate place just now. This is my house; we can do anything anywhere here. Back at the Bloom Villa, we did it on the couch, in the kitchen, in the study..."
Aurelia's eyelids twitched non-stop as he casually brought up their past experiences.
Back at the Bloom Villa, every time Betty took a few days off, the house was left to just the two of them.
Every place became their lovemaking spot. He had a high sex drive and often demanded it regardless of the setting. She even found that he got more excited outside the bedroom.
Embarrassing scenes flooded her mind, and Aurelia's ears turned red. "I'm seriously talking to you. Don't change the subject."
Nathaniel bent down a bit to look her in the eye.
"Aurelia, I'm serious too. I'll change the door lock code later so only you and I can enter this house. I guarantee nothing like this will happen again. Does that make you feel better?"
"No kissing or touching me outside either!"
Nathaniel surrendered. "Alright, whatever you say."
Aurelia then asked, "What did Grandpa call you downstairs for just now?"
Nathaniel was momentarily stunned, then tried to suppress a smile and followed his grandfather's words.
"He called me down to fix the lock."
"Don't lie to me. Didn't I just go down there? Do I not know if the lock is broken?"
Nathaniel was stumped. Reed's words were already embarrassing enough; if she knew Reed thought they were doing something intimate on the couch, it would be even more awkward.
Nathaniel quickly reassured her. "He wanted me to check if there was a burglar in the house. He found some meat missing from the fridge."
"That's it? Nothing else?"
Nathaniel nodded frantically.
"That's it, nothing else."
Aurelia's anger gradually subsided. Nathaniel, now adept at reading her mood, saw her face improve and asked, "Do you want to eat some more durian? It's freshly opened today."
"No, I'm already full."
Nathaniel nodded. "Alright, I'll put it in the fridge for you to eat tomorrow."
He said as he walked to the kitchen and neatly placed the boxes of durian in the fridge.
Aurelia stood quietly behind, watching him. She wondered if he would throw out the fridge and get a new one after she finished the durian, given how much he hated the smell.
Nathaniel finished tidying up and turned to see her lost in thought.
"Aurelia, what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing. It's time for me to go home. If I'm late, Dorothy will throw a fit if I misses her bedtime."
Thinking of Dorothy's cute little face, Nathaniel's smile deepened.
"That little clingy one, can you handle her? How about leaving the kids with me for a few days?"
"You don't even have a nanny, and you have to work during the day. I'm afraid you can't manage."
Nathaniel thought she had a point. He could hire a nanny, but having another person in the house would be inconvenient, so he dismissed the idea.
He asked, "Then bring the kids over for the weekend?"
"I'll ask them. If they don't mind, I don't mind."
"Can you come with them?"
Aurelia rolled her eyes at him.
"Mr. Heilbronn, thinking about moving in before you're even official?"
Nathaniel wasn't embarrassed about his intentions. He had ulterior motives for her. If a man didn't have desire about the woman he liked, that would be scary.
"Alright, I'll work on becoming official first. Now, let me take you home."
Nathaniel thought about when he could bring her and the kids back. This house would only be a home with them in it.
On the way, they chatted about work. As they approached The Semona Family estate, fireworks lit up the sky, one after another, brightening the mood.
"What's the occasion today? Why are there fireworks?" Aurelia looked in the direction of the fireworks, feeling like they were coming from her own yard.
When the car arrived outside the villa, it confirmed Aurelia's suspicion. The fireworks were indeed coming from her backyard.
Joe was standing in the yard with three kids, watching the fireworks and taking pictures with a DSLR.
Seeing the car pull up, his expression turned cold. He handed the camera to a servant. "Take some pictures."
He bent down and said a few words to the kids, then walked out.
Aurelia glanced back at Nathaniel, then at Joe, feeling guilty.
"Joe, why are you out here?"
Joe replied indifferently, "The kids have been asking to see fireworks for days. I just bought some today, and the weather is nice, so I thought we'd set them off."
After speaking, Joe's gaze shifted past her to Nathaniel, a mocking smile on his lips.
"Mr. Heilbronn, have you changed careers to become a driver? Did your family go bankrupt?"
Hearing Joe's sarcasm, Nathaniel returned a meaningful smile.
"Joe, you're in a good mood. On behalf of the kids, thank you. You're the best uncle in the world."
Joe snorted. "Well, the kids don't have a dad, so as their uncle, I have to make up for it in other ways. I can't let them think that besides their mom, no one loves them."
As Joe finished speaking, Dorothy ran out with open arms. "Daddy!"
Nathaniel squatted down, and Dorothy jumped into his arms, clearly happy to see him at this time.
"Daddy, why are you here?"
Nathaniel picked her up. Dorothy was very clingy to her dad, hugging his neck tightly.
Joe's sarcastic remark about the kids not having a dad was quickly forgotten. Watching the father-daughter bond, he couldn't help but curse inwardly, feeling like Nathaniel had won.
The reversal came so quickly.
