Chapter 262 Super Embarrassing

Zack said, "Mrs. Heilbronn, sorry to bug ya. I'm here to tweak Mr. Heilbronn's gear."

Aurelia had just wrapped up checking last month's bills and hadn't even started sketching yet. Zack's words snapped her back to reality. "Zack, you gotta stop calling me that. Nathaniel and I are divorced, remember?"

Zack scratched his head and let out an awkward chuckle. "Got it, Mrs. Heilbronn."

Aurelia just rolled her eyes.

Before they could figure out what to call her, Nathaniel strolled in, sporting glasses on his nose.

Aurelia remembered he didn't need glasses,  first time seeing him with them. They kinda softened his sharp look, making him seem more refined.

Nathaniel plopped down in front of the TV and crossed his hands on the table.

There was another conference room in the company, but they just had to come here. Aurelia couldn't tell if Zack did it on purpose or if Nathaniel put him up to it. Either way, she felt like these two were up to something. "Do you really have to cram in here?"

Nathaniel turned to her, looking all innocent. "Aurelia, I need about fifteen minutes, I'll be quick."

Zack smiled akwardly. "Mrs. Heilbronn, I'm not familiar with this place. This was the only room I found with a projector. Sorry for the hassle."

Aurelia rolled her eyes at the sound of "Mrs. Heilbronn." Zack slapped his own mouth. "My bad memory, Mrs. Heilbronn, I'll get it right next time!"

Aurelia felt exasperated. She stood up and started tidying her stuff on the table, a bunch of scattered items. While she was organizing, Zack had already set up the video.

Managers from various departments popped up on the TV. Despite her efforts to avoid it, Aurelia was still seen by those people.

Some employees on the other side recognized Aurelia. A group of them exchanged glances, and the next second, someone bold enough asked, "Mr. Heilbronn, did we just see Mrs. Heilbronn?"

Nathaniel seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood today. "Your eyesight is pretty sharp."

The other side instantly erupted in exclamations.

Four years ago, everyone thought Aurelia had died in a car accident, leaving Nathaniel in a prolonged slump. During that time, the company was a mess, and profits took a hit. If he hadn't pulled himself together later, the Heilbronn Group would've been in serious trouble.

The marketing manager was the first to react and led the greetings. "Mrs. Heilbronn, long time no see. Everyone here misses you."

Others chimed in.

"Yeah, Mrs. Heilbronn, you haven't visited us in ages. Last time we worked overtime, you treated our department to coffee. I still remember it."

"Mrs. Heilbronn, it's been so long since we've seen you, and you look even younger and prettier. No wonder Mr. Heilbronn has been staying in Coral Bay and not coming back."

"Mrs. Heilbronn, please tell Mr. Heilbronn to throw a big annual party for us this year. It's been a while since we've had any fun."

Aurelia awkwardly wiped her sweat.

Nathaniel seemed to enjoy listening to the employees' compliments for a while. Finally, he appreciated the HR manager's suggestion.

Four years ago, Nathaniel had canceled the company's annual party, annual trips, and all group entertainment activities. The last major event was a celebration on a cruise four years ago.

The employees missed it but didn't dare to mention it. For the past four years, the atmosphere at the Heilbronn Group had been gloomy. Besides working hard, no one dared to talk about anything else.

Nathaniel cut in, "Mrs. Rodriguez's idea is spot on. This year's Heilbronn Group annual party is gonna be epic, probably in Coral Bay. Start planning and make it a rager."

The HR manager lit up. This was big news. Seeing Nathaniel in a good mood, she pushed her luck. "Mr. Heilbronn, what's the budget for the party?"

Nathaniel's face softened, and he casually said, "Three million bucks."

The employees on the other side were floored, jaws practically hitting the floor. Nathaniel was always generous with employee perks, but a three-million-dollar party was next-level.

The HR manager already had ideas brewing. "Got it, we'll make it happen!"

Aurelia finished packing her stuff and was about to bounce when Nathaniel grabbed her wrist. "Aurelia, wanna say something?"

She shot him a glare, then sidestepped him and left the room with her things.

Nathaniel awkwardly cleared his throat. "Mrs. Heilbronn doesn't wanna speak. Let's get this meeting started. First up, let's check out the top designs of this quarter. Everyone, share your thoughts."

With that, the camera switched to a folder of pictures on his computer. The conference room erupted in a chorus of "Wow."

Nathaniel's gaze fell on Aurelia. Hearing the noise, he turned his head and saw the pictures on the screen. His face stiffened, and he couldn't help but glance at Aurelia.

Curiosity got the best of her, and she peeked back. The folder Nathaniel opened was full of her photos, from when they first got hitched up until four years ago.

There were shots of her working hard in the study with a pencil in her hair, busy in the kitchen with a low ponytail, checking herself out in a new dress in front of the mirror, and even selfies of her secretly putting on makeup at home.

A lot of the photos were taken from weird angles, clearly candid shots that didn't capture her best side. It was obvious they were taken by a guy. No one but Nathaniel could've snapped those candid shots of her at home.

Aurelia felt a pang in her heart. Those photos were so personal that only someone meticulous could've collected so many. What she didn't get was how her selfies ended up on his computer and were now being projected. It was super embarrassing.

Aurelia furrowed her brows, on the verge of losing it, but Nathaniel quickly switched the screen to jewelry pictures. In his rush, he had clicked the wrong folder.

Nathaniel acted like nothing happened and kept discussing work with the employees.

Aurelia stormed out, slamming the door so hard that even the employees on the other side of the video conference heard it. But it didn't matter; Nathaniel had grown a thick skin. Aurelia slamming the door was no biggie. He kept the meeting going.

The meeting lasted about half an hour. Nathaniel then strolled back to Aurelia's office with his laptop, acting like nothing happened, and sat across from her, working away, his fingers tapping loudly on the keyboard.

Aurelia had lost the mood to work. "Delete them," She said simply.

The sound of typing paused in the quiet office. Nathaniel looked up. "Aurelia..."

Nathaniel looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated, looking pretty pitiful.

Can't win me back
