Chapter 237 Drop the Case

Dorothy ran off to play, and only then did Joe sit down on the sofa, asking her, "Aurelia, is something wrong?"

Aurelia had been holding back for a long time. Hearing Joe's concerned question, she emotionally broke down.

She admitted, "Joe, I saw Nathaniel today. Do you think he will come to take the kids?"

Hearing that, Joe's expression turned serious.

"He recognized you?" he asked.

Aurelia nodded, her eyes red from worry. She was in a terrible mental state, suffering from nights of insomnia recently, and was on the verge of a breakdown both mentally and physically.

Joe felt sorry for Aurelia and was also angry at that scumbag, Nathaniel, for coming to Coral Bay to disturb their family's peaceful life.

He reassured her, "Don't worry, I'm not to be messed with either. If he dares to come for the kids, I have plenty of ways to deal with him!"

Aurelia looked up at Joe. She trusted him but couldn't dispel the fear in her heart. She cared too much about her children and knew exactly what kind of person Chelsea was.

If he really took her children away, they would fall into Chelsea's hands, their stepmother, and could forget about having a happy childhood.

These thoughts were too terrifying for her to even consider. Her mind was in chaos.

While they were talking, no one noticed Jacob's small figure on the stairs, listening to every word they said.

Mommy was unhappy and afraid that the scumbag father would come to take him and his sister away. This was the information Jacob gathered from Mommy and Uncle's conversation.

He didn't make a sound but quietly returned to his room upstairs, opened his computer, and his little chubby hands started typing away on the keyboard.

In the hotel, Nathaniel was holding the wind chime he got from the magazine office, carefully examining it. He was now certain that this wind chime was made by Aurelia.

No one else could be so skillful, creating something even more exquisite than what people could be bought in a boutique.

Zack had been out all day and came back with a gloomy face.

He reported, "Mr. Heilbronn, we checked all around Coral Bay today but couldn't find Mrs. Heilbronn's grave. Could we be looking in the wrong direction?"

Nathaniel looked at the wind chime in his hand and smiled bitterly. "We are indeed looking in the wrong direction. Tell the lawyer to drop the case; we won't pursue it anymore," he remarked.

Zack had come prepared to be scolded for today's work, but now he felt something was off with his boss. Not only did he not get scolded, but Nathaniel seemed to be in a good mood and didn't even want to pursue the person who stole Aurelia's designs.

He inquired, "Mr. Heilbronn, why are we dropping the case? Mrs. Heilbronn hated it when people stole her designs. Are we just going to let Anne off the hook?"

Zack couldn't figure it out what was going on, his boss wasn't like this before. Over the years, anything related to Aurelia had been given special attention, and such a case of design plagiarismshould have triggered his boss's zero-tolerance policy.

Nathaniel slowly said, "Anne didn't plagiarize them. Those drafts were all drawn by her, including the ones we have; they are all her original works."

Zack was puzzled. The drafts in the Heilbronn Group's safe were Mr. Heilbronn's most treasured items. How could they be Anne Studio's originals?

Suddenly, a thought struck him, and he was shocked by his own realization.

Zack asked, "Mr. Heilbronn, could it be that Anne is...?"

Nathaniel nodded with a bitter smile. He confirmed, "It's her."

For four years, he had been searching for her grave everywhere. Now, knowing she was living well in another city, the joy in his heart was indescribable.

Even if she ignored him now, just knowing she was alive, pursuing her passion, and seemingly having a decent income, he felt very content.

Remembering something, Nathaniel instructed, "Have the documents for transferring my assets sent to Coral Bay. You will deliver them to Anne Studio and hand them to her personally."

Zack felt his boss' good mood  and was infected by it, feeling cheerful himself.

"Yes, Mr. Heilbronn," Zack responded and was about to contact a colleague at Imperick when his phone started vibrating wildly in his pocket.

It was a call from a colleague at Imperick, so he answered it in front of his boss.

The colleague reported, "Zack, bad news! Our website has been hacked!"

This was another major move by J, following the last hack of the Heilbronn Group's clock-in system.

The voice on the other end was so loud that Nathaniel heard it too.

Nathaniel opened his computer and navigated to their website. This time, Mickey Mouse and his family appeared on the screen, sticking their tongues out at him.

Nathaniel's brows furrowed, and he was furious. The problem was that this was outside his area of expertise; he didn't understand the intricacies of the internet.

Helpless, he called Chris for help again.

"Chris, when can you help me catch J?" he asked bluntly, each word spoken through gritted teeth, wishing he could capture J right now and skin him alive.

On the other end, Chris was staring at his computer, troubled, saying, "Nathaniel, don't rush me. This J is not easy to deal with. I've already had several encounters with him in the past few days, and it's been a stalemate. I'm slowly breaking through his defenses. Once I crack the final one, I'll be able to locate him."

Nathaniel said angrily, "Crack it by tomorrow, and you can have your pick of the Heilbronn Group's latest jewelry!"

Chris raised an eyebrow, surprised. That was indeed a tempting offer. Everyone knew that the latest jewelry from the Heilbronn Group wasn't something you could buy just with money. You needed to be a member and spend a certain amount to qualify for a reservation.

Nathaniel had come up with a scarcity marketing strategy, raising prices several times over and releasing only a few sets, causing the socialites going all out for them.

Chris thought, if he couldn't get Anne Studio's jewelry, getting a set from Nathaniel wouldn't be a bad idea either. Such an international brand would probably impress Nova too.

He said confidently, "Nathaniel, wait for my news!"

After hanging up, Nathaniel looked at the screen full of Mickey Mouse and got even angrier.

He was already planning how to deal with J once he caught him.

At the very least, he would tie him up and give him a good beating to vent his anger, showing him that the Heilbronn Group was not to be messed with.

Zack contacted the company's department managers for an emergency video conference. Each department began to report.

"Mr. Heilbronn, the finance department's system is functioning normally."

"Mr. Heilbronn, the HR department's backend system is logging in normally, no issues found."

"Mr. Heilbronn, the marketing department's system is functioning normally, no issues."

After a round of reports, hearing that none of the departments' systems had been hacked, meaning the company hadn't suffered any financial losses, Nathaniel finally felt relaxed.

He pondered who the hell was messing with him.

The person behind could easily hack the Heilbronn Group's clock-in system and website, and even his phone, but left the company's critical systems intact, causing no financial damage.

Hacking the Heilbronn Group's systems without causing substantial damage was clearly a personal attack on him, rather than an assault on the entire Heilbronn Group.
