Chapter 151 Alienation

Nathaniel had seen this kind of drama before. Ever since Chelsea came back, her episodes had been more frequent. But this time, she was pregnant with his kid.

Chelsea now had another way to control him.

He had no choice but to step in. He couldn't undo that night. If he had known what would happen, he would've never had those drinks with her.

Nathaniel went quiet, avoiding the two elders in the room, especially Norman. He turned to Chelsea and said, "Looks like you haven't found the right doctor since you got back. I've reached out to a top heart specialist. He's free next Wednesday. Should we fly over or have him come here?"

Chelsea panicked at the thought of Nathaniel finding a doctor for her. If the expert came, her fake heart condition would be exposed. She could bribe local doctors, but not the one Nathaniel brought in.

If that happened, not only would she be in trouble, but the baby might be taken away. She'd lose her chance to marry into the Heilbronn family forever.

Being his wife had been her dream since she was a kid. She couldn't fail now.

Chelsea tried to stay calm. "Nathaniel, don't bother that. My illness is just from stress. My doctor from Melicia says I'm fine as long as I stay in a good mood."

Norman added, "Mr. Heilbronn, it's just her pregnancy. Women get emotional during this time. If you spend more time with her, she'll feel better. We don't need to spend that money."

Nathaniel was determined to cure Chelsea, no matter the cost. Once she was better, he wouldn't have to deal with her threats anymore.

He had already decided this on the cruise ship. He had contacted Dr. K, a foreign specialist, and paid the deposit—7 million dollars for a week of his time.

Nathaniel spoke firmly, "I've made the arrangements. If you don't want to travel, I'll bring the doctor here. If you're sick, you need treatment unless you don't want to get better."

Chelsea's face went pale. Was there no way out this time? She glanced at Norman, hoping he could convince Nathaniel to drop the idea.

Norman was about to speak but stopped when he saw Nathaniel's cold stare.

"Rest and take care of yourself. Get a doctor if you need anything. I'll let you know when the specialist arrives," Nathaniel said before leaving.

As soon as he left, Chelsea got up from the hospital bed. "Dad, what do I do? If the specialist comes, I'll be exposed."

Norman paced the room. "Don't worry. Focus on your pregnancy. I'll handle the rest. If we send the blood test to Rivershade now, we can get a report saying it's a boy, no matter what. You need to seize control during these ten months. If you miss this chance, controlling Nathaniel later will be tough."

Chelsea frowned. "Dad, I can't control him now. He's not even here with me now, and he doesn't come even I call him. That's not how a soon-to-be father acts."

Norman reassured her. "Chelsea, trust me. Wait for the test results. If it's a boy, it'll make things easier."

Meanwhile, a group of doctors entered the once-quiet hospital room.

Aurelia sat by Reed's bed, talking to herself. To her surprise, he woke up and patted her hand.

She quickly pressed the nurse call button, and within a minute, several top doctors arrived to examine Reed.

When Nathaniel returned, the doctors had finished their examination.

Alarmed by the commotion, he rushed in, colliding with the smiling Deputy Director.

"Dr. Grant, how's my grandfather?" he asked urgently.

Dr. Grant replied, "Mr. Heilbronn, I was just looking for you. Reed has woken up and is recovering well. He's out of danger but needs to stay in the hospital for a while longer. Keep him in good spirits."

Nathaniel's tense heart finally eased. Thank goodness nothing serious had happened.

After the doctors left, only family members remained in the room.

Nathaniel sat by the bed, observing Reed. Reed was naturally weak after the crisis. Upon waking up, he held Aurelia's hand tightly and didn't even glance at his grandson.

"Grandpa, how are you feeling?" Nathaniel asked a few times, but Reed ignored him.

The hospital's central air conditioning was on high, and Aurelia, wearing a thin skirt, felt a bit cold. After Reed woke up, she realized this and noticed goosebumps on her arm.

"Mr. Reed Heilbronn, are you cold? Do you need another blanket?" she asked softly.

Reed gestured slightly, saying he wasn't cold. He held Aurelia's hand tighter, a tear rolling down his cheek.

Thinking Reed was still in shock from the car accident, Aurelia took a tissue from her pocket and gently wiped the tear, comforting him, "Mr. Reed Heilbronn, don't be scared. It's all in the past. You're fine, and we'll take good care of you. When we go back, I'll do HIIT exercises with you."

Reed closed his eyes, signaling he didn't want to talk anymore.

Nathaniel watched his grandfather interact with Aurelia, feeling like an outsider. He knew his grandfather liked this granddaughter-in-law, but he didn't expect him to treat her like a true granddaughter, even on his sickbed. Showing vulnerability to Aurelia, he didn't even spare a glance for his grandson.

Feeling a bit defeated, Nathaniel also wondered how this young woman managed to earn Reed's affection. Aurelia always seemed vulnerable and easy to bully within the Heilbronn family despite her professional abilities, which commanded respect from others. In the eyes of the family, she was just a pretty but worthless vase kept at home.

Yet, Reed wanted to hand over the company to her.

After watching for a while, Nathaniel took off his suit jacket and draped it over Aurelia's shoulders.

Can't win me back
