Chapter 68 A Trending Topic
A few seconds later, he strode back and reached out his hand to Aurelia.
Aurelia was stunned for a few seconds. Did he mean to hold her hand?
Nathaniel explained to Reed, "Grandpa, I will borrow Aurelia for a while. You can chat later."
Reed was very happy in his heart and waved his hand. "You guys go ahead."
Aurelia didn't know what he was up to. She didn't want to go against Reed's wishes in front of him, so she reached out her hand for Nathaniel to hold.
Nathaniel exerted a little force, pulled her up, and led her upstairs to the bedroom.
Upon entering the room, he immediately shut the door. The echo of the closing door seemed to seal Aurelia's heart as well. She was left puzzled, uncertain of his intentions that necessitated such secrecy, symbolized by the closed door.
Nathaniel let go of her hand and opened his phone to play a recording. The urgent breathing, accompanied by the man's explicit seduction, echoed in her ears. Just a few seconds of listening made the blood boil, yet the progress bar of the recording had not even reached one-tenth.
Aurelia's breath hitched as scenes of morning intimacy flashed in her mind. She blushed instantly. "Did you record it yourself? Are you a pervert?"
She was somewhat annoyed, feeling like she was just his plaything. In three years, she hadn't noticed this perverted hobby of his, recording such sounds and even posting them online.
Nathaniel was quite helpless at her reaction.
"I didn't record this. If I were to record something, it would definitely be a high-definition, uncensored video to enjoy in the media room with you."
"Are you a pervert?" Aurelia inquired.
Nathaniel said, "Don't you want to know where this recording came from?"
Aurelia, overwhelmed by anger, hadn't even thought about that aspect until he mentioned it, but now she wanted to know.
"Where did it come from?"
After she spoke, her eyelid twitched, and her expression changed drastically. "Did you install cameras in the bedroom?"
Nathaniel rubbed his forehead. "I'm not that twisted."
He was quite helpless now. Aurelia first suspected him of posting the recording online and then questioned whether he had installed cameras in the room. It seemed that in her eyes, there wasn't much difference between him and a pervert.
After a moment of sadness, Nathaniel opened Instagram and showed her directly on his phone.
Aurelia's face turned pale.
Displayed on the screen was a headline tagged with “Mr. Heilbronn of the Heilbronn Group seen with a lady at his residence, signaling the end of his celebrated bachelorhood.”
Nine photographs accompanied the headline. As Aurelia magnified them, they revealed snapshots of the couple exiting Bloom Villa, some even capturing their fervent kisses. The framing of these images was imbued with an ambiance that palpably communicated the intense connection between the man and woman.
Within half an hour of the Instagram post, the number of likes was uncountable, making it the most discussed topic among netizens.
The comments section had tens of thousands of comments, with netizens more excited than the parties involved.
[He brought her directly home. She will be the future Mrs. Heilbronn. When will she announce it to the world?]
[They are so skilled that it doesn't seem like the beginning of a romance. Could my honey have been cheating on me for a long time?]
[Hearing all this in the middle of the day, even while simply scrolling through Instagram, it's as if I'm privy to others' intimate moments. They seem to disregard us as spectators. It's strangely stirring. You all carry on.]
[Guys, I've been dumped. My Honey has a lover behind my back.]
Aurelia was relieved that she was shielded by him, revealing less than half of her face. Otherwise, her distress would have been much greater.
Compared to Aurelia's nervous state, Nathaniel remained quite calm.
Aurelia looked up at him. "You should take down the trending topic, shouldn't you?"
Nathaniel shrugged. "I won't take it down. I'm not part of the entertainment industry. Once they've had their fill of looking, they won't care anymore."
Aurelia gasped, taken aback by his proud tone.
Having such a private matter viewed by the entire nation was no different from being exposed naked. Aurelia couldn't bring herself to be so shameless.
If others saw it, that would be one thing, but if family and friends heard that recording, she wouldn't be able to face them.
"Can you remove the trending topic?"
Aurelia's tone softened with a pleading undertone. She had completely lost the boldness she had when she mentioned divorce in the car.
Nathaniel couldn't stand her blue eyes, red with tears, staring at him pitifully. He lightly brushed her eye corner with his thumb.
"Alright, I didn't cry. Why are you crying? They can't even see your face. I presume the voice recording was inadvertently captured by someone else when I neglected to disconnect the phone call that came in when we were having sex. It is no big deal."
Aurelia suddenly felt wronged, tears streaming down her face, looking pitiful.
"Why did you make that call at that time?"
Nathaniel licked his lips, unsure how to answer this question. His intuition told him it was a tricky question, and no matter how he responded, Aurelia would complain.
At that moment, he just felt a bit excited, never expecting things to escalate to this point.
"Don't cry. It's fine. Zack is already handling it. If you refresh in ten minutes, you won't see that news."
Aurelia wiped her face with the back of her hand, gradually calming down upon hearing that he had taken care of it.
He had already dispatched Zack to handle the situation but chose to keep her in the dark earlier. It seemed he desired her to shed tears for a prolonged period.
He felt like a wicked man!
Aurelia tossed his phone onto the bed and turned away, ignoring him.
Nathaniel thought women were really troublesome. She was shedding tears over such a trivial matter. If Reed saw her with red eyes later, Nathaniel would surely receive another scolding.
It felt like he had done something terribly evil.
"Don't cry. I promise similar things won't happen in the future."
As long as he wasn't harsh, he could soothe her.
"How can you guarantee that similar things won't happen? When Chelsea ambushed me for the first time, you made the same promise, but such things happened again later."
Nathaniel rubbed the back of his neck. Women always remembered past unpleasant things at the most inappropriate times, and even she, who was usually obedient, was no exception.
Seeing him silent, Aurelia thought she had touched a sore spot again.
"Yesterday, reporters were following me. How can you guarantee that?"
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow slightly, seeming somewhat surprised by this question.
"The SkyPulse Media won't survive tomorrow. Those reporters won't dare to come back if they want to stay at Imperick."
Aurelia chose to believe him for now.
Both of them calmed down. Aurelia's phone vibrated in her pocket a few times.
It was a message from Caleb on Facebook,
Caleb: [When are you treating me to a meal? How about today?]
Aurelia glanced at it briefly, quickly exited the chat, and locked her phone screen. Her actions seemed a bit unnatural to Nathaniel.
"What are you hiding from me?"
Nathaniel stepped forward, standing in front of her, his expression resembling that of a parent scolding a child.
"It's nothing."
Aurelia was very nervous, and she was not sure why. It was just a message, and the content wasn't significant, but she couldn't help but stutter.
Her reaction made Nathaniel even more curious. Aurelia was hiding a secret from him, sneaking a peek at messages, looking guilty.
"Show it to me!"
He almost commanded.
Aurelia's heart skipped a beat inexplicably. After a few seconds, she calmed down, looked up at him,
"Nathaniel, I have the right to have normal friendships. You won't show me your phone, so you have no right to look at mine."
Nathaniel bent down to pick up his phone from the bed, unlocked it with his thumb, and handed it to her with an indifferent attitude.
"Take a look."
Aurelia gave him a disdainful look. "I don't want to see your phone."
"You just blamed me for not showing you my phone, and now that I'm showing it to you, you say you don't want to see it. Listen to what you're saying."
