Chapter 257 As Long As She Was Alive, Everything Is Fine

The doc got shoved back at her, and Aurelia's fingers clenched. She was speechless.

How did four years turn him from a cold, aloof CEO into this cheeky dude? Time really did some wild stuff.

"You're giving all this to me; what about you?"

Nathaniel chuckled, "I've had side gigs besides working for you these four years. The income's decent. But hey, if you're feeling generous, some pocket money wouldn't hurt."

Aurelia felt a chill. They were divorced, yet he talked like they were still a couple, even asking for pocket money. His shamelessness was off the charts. She wondered if Zack had given him some tips.

"Keep that money. I don't need it. Save the other assets for your kid."

Nathaniel's face got serious. He knew she was touchy about Chelsea's kid.

"Aurelia, I don't have a kid!"

Aurelia turned away, not saying a word.

Nathaniel watched her in the moonlight, noticing her change. She was more approachable now compared to when he first found her, at least not kicking him out.

Nathaniel nodded, "Alright, wanna rest? If we keep talking, it'll be morning soon."

Aurelia crawled back under the covers. Before she could grab the blanket, Nathaniel pulled it up for her, placing the property transfer doc by her pillow.

"Have a sleep, I won't watch you."

He knew if he kept staring, she wouldn't sleep.

With that, Nathaniel moved to the cot, his gaze on the bright moon outside. The clear moonlight mirrored his calm and happy mood.

He was too awake to sleep. He lay there until dawn.

The next morning, Aurelia woke up and stretched. Her mind was foggy last night, and she hadn't noticed she was now in a hospital gown. Then she realized she wasn't wearing a bra.

She wanted to change back into her clothes but had no clue where he put them. Panic set in.

The key point was, he must have changed her clothes.

As she was freaking out, Nathaniel finished his call and walked in, seeing her clutching the blanket to her chest. He knew what she was embarrassed about.

"I changed them." He lied casually.

Aurelia's face turned red instantly.

"Nathaniel, aren't you being a bit too much?"

Nathaniel walked in with his long legs, placing breakfast on the table.

"You were soaked yesterday. Should I have left you to catch a cold and get a fever?"

Aurelia was pissed. He had taken off her clothes without her permission, yet he was still talking about the risk of catching a cold, clearly trying to change the subject.

Were they really at the point in their relationship where he could help her change clothes?

She asked irritably, "Where are my clothes?"

Nathaniel raised his eyebrows, took a bag from the windowsill, and placed it at the foot of her bed. Aurelia's face was stern, clearly not wanting to talk to him.

Nathaniel chuckled, "Just kidding. I asked a nurse to help change your clothes. I had Zack send your clothes to the laundry. This set is your size."

Aurelia didn't respond, but her tense jawline visibly relaxed. She held the blanket with one hand and reached for the bag with the other.

Inside was a new dress, with a piece of underwear lying quietly at the bottom.

Aurelia glared at him, "Get out, I need to change."

Nathaniel, trying his luck, asked, "Can I just turn around and not look?"

Aurelia was speechless. How had he become so shameless? Where had the aloof CEO gone?

"Could you just blind yourself?" she snapped.

Nathaniel obediently left the room.

Aurelia took out the dress. The high-quality material and design were obvious, but there was no brand logo. Inside the lining, she found a golden mango symbol and instantly understood.

This was a custom piece by the renowned designer Ivy. As far as she knew, socialites had to book at least three months in advance to get a custom piece from Ivy. Nathaniel casually produced such a dress, indicating it wasn't made recently.

Aurelia held the dress, feeling a mix of emotions. She didn't want to wear something that had been prepared for another woman, but she had no other choice. She could either wear what he brought or continue wearing the hospital gown.

After much hesitation, she decided to change into the dress. After all, she couldn't go out in a hospital gown. She could always repay him later.

While Nathaniel waited outside, Zack called again.

"Mr. Heilbronn, we caught the man who kidnapped Mrs. Heilbronn last night. He's under our control now, but he refuses to talk and insists on speaking with you in person. Do you want to come over?"

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, "He won't talk? Can't you make him open his mouth?"

After so many years as his assistant, Zack should be able to handle this without him.

Zack sounded troubled. "Mr. Heilbronn, we've beaten and threatened him, but he won't budge. He says he has a grudge against you and must speak with you directly."

Nathaniel's heart tightened. This man kidnapped Aurelia because of him?

"Alright. I'll be there soon."

After hanging up, Aurelia had already changed and opened the door. Nathaniel glanced inside and noticed the untouched breakfast on the bedside table.

Nathaniel looked at Aurelia. The simple white dress made her look elegant and noble. The dress fit perfectly, just as he had imagined.

The only unexpected thing was her short hair and cold eyes. The softness and vulnerability she once showed were replaced by a chilling and aloof demeanor.

She had changed. But as long as she was alive, it didn't matter.

"Aren't you going to eat something?" Nathaniel pointed his chin at the breakfast inside.

Aurelia smiled politely but distantly. "I need to go home first. Thank you."

Nathaniel was disappointed. He had hoped to have breakfast with her, but if she was in a hurry, he wouldn't stop her.

"I'll take you."

Aurelia shook her head, "No need. You must be busy. I've already taken up enough of your time. It's easy to get a cab at the entrance."

She spoke clearly, not wanting to owe him anything.

Nathaniel frowned, taking out a car key and handing it to her. "Or you can take my car. I'll have Zack pick it up later."

Aurelia refused directly. "No, you're busy, and it would be inconvenient for you without a car. I can't trouble you anymore. I'll go handle the discharge paperwork. You go ahead."

Her words were full of politeness, creating a distance between them.

Nathaniel's heart tightened. As expected, he shouldn't have waited until morning. Her mask was back on.

Can't win me back
