Chapter 448 What Did You Used to Call Me?
He jumped out of bed to fetch the first aid kit, shoved the thermometer under her armpit, and took it out after timing it—102 degrees Fahrenheit.
That was not a low temperature.
He quickly dialed the doctor's number again.
"Dr. Carter, 102 degrees Fahrenheit, sore throat, hoarse voice, fatigue, no appetite. Could you please come over now?"
He felt it was hard to explain over the phone and thought it would be more prudent to have the doctor come over.
"Mr. Heilbronn, do you have any fever-reducing medicine at home? Take some first. I'll be right over."
"Dr. Carter, we're at the Bloom Villa."
"Alright."
After hanging up, Nathaniel hurriedly found the fever-reducing medicine from the first aid kit, squeezed out a pill into Aurelia's palm, handed her the prepared warm water, and watched her take it and lie down.
He started pacing the floor anxiously, muttering, "Is Dr. Carter riding a bullock cart? It's been twenty minutes, why isn't he here yet?"
Aurelia groaned from under the covers, "I'm just mad at Norman. Once I take the fever medicine, I'll be fine. There's no need to trouble Dr. Carter to come over."
Nathaniel frowned, "Aurelia, you can't just take medicine randomly. Lie down, I'll call Dr. Carter again."
When the doctor came up with his medical kit, the phone was ringing all the way.
He asked, "How is it? Has she taken the fever medicine?"
"Yes, but why is she still burning up?"
Aurelia sighed inwardly, wondering how her fever had made Nathaniel lose his mind. The medicine had only been taken for less than half an hour; what medicine could be so miraculous to bring the temperature down in such a short time? He was too anxious.
The doctor came over, diagnosed Aurelia for a while, and took out two boxes of medicine from his kit.
"Aurelia's throat is inflamed. Take some anti-inflammatory medicine, eat light meals these days, don't overuse your voice, and get plenty of rest."
Nathaniel took the two boxes of medicine and carefully read the instructions.
"Dr. Carter, will these two be enough? Does she need to go to the hospital?"
"Mr. Heilbronn, don't worry. It's just common cold symptoms. Rest is enough; there's no need to go to the hospital and risk catching other bacteria or viruses."
Only then did Nathaniel feel relieved.
After seeing the doctor off, Aurelia gradually started to sweat, her palms damp.
Nathaniel sat by the bed holding her hand, checking her temperature every now and then.
Aurelia mumbled softly, "I told you it was nothing. You insisted on calling him over. We have those common medicines in our first aid kit."
Nathaniel wiped the sweat from her forehead, "Don't talk, close your eyes and rest."
Aurelia's illness came quickly and went quickly. One pill brought down the fever, and she didn't have a fever again that night. Apart from a sore throat, she had no other symptoms.
Nathaniel followed the doctor's instructions, making sure she took her medicine and prepared light meals for her. After tidying up in the evening, he lay back in bed.
It had been almost five years since they last returned to the Bloom Villa. Lying on this bed again, both of them had their own thoughts.
Aurelia reminisced about the years living with him. He was always busy—busy signing contracts, busy traveling, busy socializing, often not home even on weekends.
They had never watched a movie together properly, even though they had a home theater.
"Nathaniel, let's go downstairs and watch a movie."
Nathaniel's thoughts snapped back. He touched her forehead with his to check her temperature; it wasn't hot anymore.
"You feel like moving now?"
Aurelia chuckled, "Not really, but you're here, aren't you?"
A tall, strong man shouldn't go to waste.
"You want me to carry you?"
"What else?"
Nathaniel pretended to consider, "Shouldn't you at least please me a little before using me?"
Aurelia blushed, her ears heating up, not knowing what he was up to.
"How should I please you?"
She glanced at the big hand on her body, warning, "Nathaniel, I'm sick right now. You can't bully me!"
Nathaniel laughed mischievously.
"What are you thinking? Am I that much of a beast?"
He whispered in her ear, "We did it too much the other day. You've drained me; I need to recover too."
Aurelia was secretly pleased. As long as he didn't want to mess with her, she couldn't handle that right now. Since he said so, she teased boldly, "Didn't expect you to have your weak moments."
Nathaniel was about to carry her downstairs to the home theater but paused at her words.
"Aurelia, what are you saying?"
He took her hand and placed it on himself, questioning, "I'm weak?"
If it weren't for her being sick, he would have to prove whether he was weak or not.
Aurelia's face turned bright red, the heat from his body scaring her into quickly withdrawing her hand. She was the weak one.
How did she dare to provoke him?
Aurelia awkwardly cleared her throat and started coughing, one cough after another.
Nathaniel just watched her act.
"Aurelia, stop pretending. Fake coughing also hurts your throat. You're sick, I won't touch you!"
Aurelia gradually felt relieved; he still had some conscience.
He asked, "Do you still want to watch a movie now?"
Aurelia pursed her lips, "Yes."
"Aurelia, please me a little, say something nice."
From this angle, Aurelia could see his chin. His beard was clean-shaven but felt rough to the touch.
She played with his chin with one hand, asking, "Something nice like what?"
"What did you used to call me?"
Aurelia paused, "Nathaniel?"
"And what else? When we were making love, what would you call me?"
Aurelia pinched his chin hard. When they used to get intimate on this bed, he would tease her, holding back, not giving her satisfaction.
He would only relent when she tearfully called him "honey."
Aurelia's face turned even redder than when she had a fever.
"That was only during those times! I usually call you Nathaniel. I can't say it now."
"So you mean you'll save it for next time we are intimate?"
Nathaniel's smile deepened. After a few seconds, he said, "Alright, then call me that next time we are intimate. No backing out."
Aurelia pouted.
Only then did Nathaniel stand up, carrying her downstairs to the home theater.
The home theater was great, except it didn't have a bed.
Nathaniel thought it might be necessary to buy a bed for the room so they could lie down and watch movies.
He brought a blanket and some fruit, placing them on the table. Aurelia took the remote and started selecting.
She picked a comedy that had been released recently but she hadn't had time to watch.
As the movie started, Nathaniel sat down, and Aurelia lay across the sofa, her head resting on his lap.
The movie starred a well-known comedic actor and had many funny moments. Aurelia's attention was fully on the movie, laughing out loud from time to time.
Nathaniel didn't pay much attention to the movie; he spent the whole time watching her, occasionally feeding her pieces of fruit.
