Chapter 245 There's a Woman on the Bed
Just then, Nathaniel's phone buzzed. It was Zack.
"Hey, Mr. Heilbronn," Zack said, "the president of Golden Horizon Bullion Group wants to have dinner with you tonight. He's looking to talk about a potential collab."
The Heilbronn Group was all about jewelry and hadn't dipped its toes into gold yet. Normally, Nathaniel wouldn't even think about it, but with Aurelia hanging out in Coral Bay, he figured it was time to get some business rolling here. So, he agreed right away.
Nathaniel headed home, threw on a suit, and drove to the Blue Palace Hotel.
Casimir Novak, the president of Golden Horizon Bullion Group, was already waiting downstairs with his assistant and Zack. Nathaniel rolled up, tossed his keys to the valet, and they all headed straight into the hotel, taking the elevator up.
Casimir jumped right in, "Mr. Heilbronn, I've been wanting to team up with you for ages. Glad you finally made it to Coral Bay. Let's have a good chat tonight."
Casimir was super pumped. He'd tried to get in touch with Nathaniel a bunch of times before, but never got a reply. This time, something had changed, and he finally scored a meeting with the big boss of the Heilbronn Group. He was itching to get a deal signed ASAP.
Nathaniel nodded. He knew he needed to get some business going in Coral Bay, especially since Caleb had already moved the company HQ here. If he didn't act fast, Caleb might win Aurelia over.
The elevator dinged at the top floor, where Casimir had booked a swanky private room and ordered all the hotel's best dishes.
Once they sat down, the waiter started bringing out the food. Casimir had pulled out all the stops, even cracking open his dad's prized wine for Nathaniel.
As they drank and toasted, they got down to business. Both of them were getting a bit tipsy.
Casimir's company had been kinda meh for years. A lot of his cool ideas never really took off. If he could team up with the Heilbronn Group's jewelry biz, the future would look pretty sweet.
After all, it was easier to make it big with some solid backing. Nathaniel's rep in the business world was top-notch.
Casimir suggested, "Mr. Heilbronn, how about we team up to create a sub-brand? We will make a huge splash in the jewelry world."
Nathaniel had already thought about this. Running a big company like the Heilbronn Group needed more than just one business line. Without some fresh ideas, it would eventually go downhill.
But the old-timers in the company were super conservative. More than half of the major shareholders were against the idea, so it got shelved for a while.
Now, this seemed like a golden opportunity.
Nathaniel, even though he agreed with Casimir, kept quiet. He wanted Casimir to sweeten the deal, playing a little mind game.
Sure enough, after a few minutes, Casimir couldn't hold back. "Mr. Heilbronn, how about a sixty-percent split in your favor?"
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes, took a sip of his drink, and stayed silent.
Casimir realized he hadn't hit the mark. "How about seventy percent in your favor?"
He reluctantly offered more. In his mind, teaming up with the Heilbronn Group was a guaranteed win, while for the Heilbronn Group, it didn't matter which gold brand they partnered with; they could hold their own in any situation.
Even with just 30%, he was cool with it.
Nathaniel finally broke the silence, "Mr. Novak, you're right. But Coral Bay is your turf. The initial team setup and office location? That's on you."
With just a few words, Nathaniel offloaded all the boring, non-technical stuff onto Casimir.
Casimir grinned, thinking Nathaniel was on board. "Of course, leave it to me."
After a few more rounds of drinks, the business talk was pretty much wrapped up.
Casimir gave his assistant a nod, who then stepped out with a phone.
"Mr. Heilbronn, we've had quite a bit to drink tonight. This wine packs a punch. How about crashing at the hotel? We've got the presidential suite ready for you."
Nathaniel rubbed his temples, feeling the buzz. Casimir was right; he was pretty dizzy.
He nodded. "Thanks, Mr. Novak."
Casimir chuckled and handed over a room key. "My pleasure."
As Nathaniel and Zack left, Casimir made a call. "Make sure to take good care of him tonight, got it? If you mess this up, just wait and see."
After hearing something on the other end, he softened his tone. "Just help me lock this deal down. If I make money, you'll get your cut. You know Mr. Heilbronn's status, right?"
Even though the business talk was done, the contract still needed to be signed. Until Nathaniel put pen to paper, Casimir was worried he might change his mind and team up with someone else.
Better safe than sorry; he had to make sure everything went smoothly.
Meanwhile, Zack helped Nathaniel to the presidential suite. He slid the key in, and the door clicked open.
Nathaniel has been suffering from stomach problems in recent years. The year Aurelia disappeared, he frequently used alcohol to numb the pain, drinking to the point of stomach bleeding on one occasion.
Zack needed to make sure his boss was settled before leaving. If anything went wrong, his job could be on the line.
Nathaniel walked in, loosened his tie, and tossed it aside. He plopped down on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and thought of Aurelia with a warm smile.
He figured he'd be spending more time here in the future, planning to shift his work focus to Coral Bay.
Zack checked the room and was startled by the sight of a lot of bare skin on the bed when he entered the bedroom. He quickly turned away and hurried back to the living room. "Mr. Heilbronn, there's a woman on the bed."
Nathaniel stubbed out his cigarette and said to Zack, "Take me home."
This place felt tainted to him.
Zack pulled out his keys and suggested, "Mr. Heilbronn, if you're feeling unwell, I can call room service for some lemonade. It's a bit of a drive to your house."
Zack was worried Nathaniel might throw up in the new car and regret it the next day.
Upon hearing the talk about leaving, the woman on the bed, who had come with a mission, panicked. She knew this big shot's mood could make or break her career.
She quickly wrapped herself in a bathrobe and ran out barefoot.
She swayed her hips and approached him, fawning over, "Mr. Heilbronn, do you have a headache from the alcohol? I learned some massage techniques from my grandmother that can help relieve it."
Nathaniel looked up and said coldly, "Get out!"
Zack felt a pang of sympathy for Casimir.
Upon closer inspection, Zack was shocked to recognize the woman wrapped in a towel as the recently popular actress, Mia Patel.
