Chapter 371 What Was He Excited About?
Aurelia finished tidying up the kitchen and went straight upstairs.
Her assistant, Aurora, sent her a message complaining: [Anna, when are you coming back? There's a backlog of documents that need your personal review, and the design department's sketches need your final approval. If you don't come back soon, everyone's motivation will be gone.]
Aurelia knew that during this period, Aurora had been coordinating the work, but everyone's enthusiasm was low. The company's progress had indeed slowed down significantly in her absence. If this continued, there would be no point in maintaining the brand; it would be a miracle if the company didn't collapse.
Aurelia: [I'll be back next week. Hold the fort.]
Aurora: [Anna, please come back soon. We're all waiting for you.]
Aurelia handled some work emails and then, out of boredom, logged into her personal email. She found an overseas email quietly sitting in her inbox, dated from last week.
She opened the email and read it carefully.
[Dear Burry, greetings.
This is Sumer Headquarters. The perfume 'Charm' you developed has won our company's most popular award in the past five years. The award ceremony will be held on the 8th of next month in Elvenia. We look forward to your attendance.]
Aurelia stared at the email, deep in thought, especially at the name "Burry." The first time she heard this name was from a foreigner who was friends with Marcus.
It could be inferred that Burry was the woman who looked just like her.
She couldn't understand why Burry's email would be sent to her inbox. Very few people knew her personal email, and she never disclosed it to strangers.
So how did this email meant for Burry end up in her inbox? She was baffled.
Sumer was a well-known cosmetics company in Elvenia, and their flagship product was their perfume. Aurelia had a few bottles at home. As for the "Charm" perfume mentioned in the email, it was her favorite after trying several at the counter.
Aurelia felt a headache coming on. There couldn't be such a coincidence in the world.
She once suspected she had traveled through time or had amnesia.
Aurelia remembered that her mother, Brenda, had a deep interest in perfumes. She was born with a keen sense of smell, and her vanity table was filled with various high-end perfumes.
After moving to Coral Bay, she was surprised to find that her grandmother also had a passion for fragrances.
Aurelia called her grandmother on video; it had been several days since they last spoke.
When the video connected, Cathy's kind face appeared on the screen.
Aurelia asked, "Grandma, are you asleep?"
Cathy scrutinized her through the screen, "Aurelia, have you gained some weight since you left home?"
Aurelia touched her face, thinking, 'Is it that obvious?' She had been well-fed by Nathaniel these past few days, eating very full meals. Had she gained weight that quickly?
"Grandma, is it that obvious that I've gained weight?"
Cathy nodded with a smile. "Being a bit chubby is good. You and your mother have the same face shape; it looks better when it's fuller."
After some small talk, Aurelia got to the point, "Grandma, do you know how to make perfume?"
Cathy raised an eyebrow and smiled, "You've asked the right person. I studied it for a while when I was young, but I'm just a beginner. Your mother is the real expert. I only taught her some basics, and she mastered the craft on her own. Your grandfather even planned to set up a company for her to showcase her talent, but then she..."
Cathy started to tear up when she mentioned the sad past. If it weren't for her rebellious daughter insisting on marrying that bad man Norman, she might have made a name for herself in the perfume industry by now.
Aurelia felt both sad and shocked. From her grandmother's description, making perfume seemed like a family tradition. She also knew that she had a very sensitive nose, especially to fragrances.
Aurelia hung up the phone, her mind in a whirl.
So, was the Burry in Elvenia her doppelgänger? The more she thought about it, the stranger it seemed.
Footsteps sounded outside the door, and Dorothy walked in, "Mommy, Daddy said it's bedtime and asked you to give me a bath."
Aurelia collected her thoughts and asked, "Where's Daddy?"
"Daddy took my brother to the bathroom."
Aurelia checked the time. It wasn't yet the usual bath time for the kids. What was Nathaniel in such a hurry for today?
Aurelia grabbed a towel and took Dorothy to the bathroom. She started filling the bathtub, and just as it was almost full, Nathaniel came in with a bag of rose petals.
Aurelia looked at him, stunned, and asked, "Weren't you giving Jacob a bath?"
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Finished."
Aurelia checked the time again. It had been less than ten minutes. He had bathed Jacob, gone to the garden to pick so many petals, all in under ten minutes. Was he in that much of a rush? It was insane.
Nathaniel, of course, didn't know Aurelia was cursing him in her mind. He walked in and scattered the petals. He had promised Dorothy a petal bath; boys could be rough, but girls couldn't.
As he scattered the petals, they fell like rain over the bathtub, covering the water in a layer of white.
The heat from the water released the fragrance.
Aurelia brushed aside the floating petals and tested the water temperature with her hand. The faint floral scent filled her nose. She was a bit distracted, unable to forget about Burry.
Dorothy clapped her hands in delight, "Wow, it smells so good! Will I smell like flowers after this bath and attract butterflies outside?"
Dorothy was eager to get into the water, "Mommy, is the water ready?"
"It's ready."
Nathaniel left the room, waiting downstairs for them to finish.
Downstairs, Jacob placed two robots at the entrance of the tent, one on each side, like guards.
Nathaniel then noticed Jacob's hair was still wet, and his clothes were on backward.
He couldn't help but touch his nose. What was he so excited about?
But Jacob had also noticed his clothes were on backward. Seeing his dad come downstairs, he put his hands on his hips and warned, "From now on, I'll bathe and dress myself. Don't mess things up again!"
Nathaniel was silent for a moment and then beckoned Jacob over, "Come here, let Daddy help you fix it."
Jacob snorted, "No need. I can do it myself. I left it like this to show you. You wouldn't admit it otherwise."
Jacob then took off his pajamas, turned them right side out, and put them back on.
