Chapter 405 If You're Separated, You Can Get Back Together

Aurelia returned home to find Cathy already asleep.

She had used the excuse of working late, and it seemed Cathy didn't suspect anything.

The two kids had just taken their baths and were getting ready for bed. Jacob had run back to his room, while Dorothy was throwing a tantrum with Dahlia. Aurelia had promised over the phone to come home and tell her a bedtime story, but she still hadn't returned.

When Dahlia saw Aurelia walk in, she looked like she had seen a savior.

"Look, your mommy's back. I told you, she always keeps her promises to you. Can we go back to your room now?"

Dorothy's face lit up with a smile when she saw Aurelia walk in. "Mommy!"

She opened her arms, wanting to be held.

Aurelia changed her shoes and walked over.

"Go back to your room with Dahlia first. Mommy just got back from outside and is dirty. I'll wash up and change clothes, then come to be with you, okay?"

Dorothy pouted but reluctantly agreed. "Okay."

After washing up, Aurelia went to Dorothy's room. The little one was lying obediently in bed, waiting for her.

"Mommy, before you came back, Daddy called me. When can I see Daddy?"

"Do you miss Daddy?"

Dorothy stared at the ceiling thoughtfully, her big eyes rolling around before she asked, "Can we live in one house with Daddy like we did in Imperick? I want us to all live together."

This question stumped Aurelia. Staying temporarily in Imperick was no problem, but in Coral Bay, she had to come home every day, and she hadn't yet resolved the relationship between Nathaniel and her family.

This wish was difficult to fulfill for now.

Aurelia said, "You're still young and might not understand. Daddy and Mommy are separated, so it's not suitable for us to live together again. But that doesn't affect how much we love you. If you miss Daddy, he'll come to see us once he finishes his work in Imperick."

Dorothy pouted. "If you're separated, you can get back together. Some of my classmates' parents got divorced and then remarried."

Aurelia was surprised that this little one even understood terms like divorce and remarriage.

"Dorothy, this is very complicated. You'll understand when you grow up. Sleep now, Mommy loves you."

Aurelia kissed Dorothy on the forehead, started telling her a story, and patted her to sleep.

Once the little one was sound asleep, she returned to her room and remembered to call Nathaniel back.

The video call connected, and Nathaniel seemed to have just finished work. He had taken off his tie and unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt.

"Aurelia, were you with your brother again?"

Aurelia's eyes were fixed on his prominent Adam's apple. She snapped back to reality when she heard him speak.

"I was in the car just now, with my brother beside me."

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow helplessly.

"Aurelia, when will you dare to make our relationship public?"

Aurelia replied straightforwardly, "In three years."

She wasn't just making up the three years. After they got married, they had kept it a secret for three years. During those three years, she had silently admired him from behind, never being taken to public events.

Even though he later explained that he didn't want her to attend those flashy events and just wanted to keep her in his private world, she had indeed suffered a lot during those three years.

She had always hoped he would proudly take her out and introduce her to his friends as his wife.

What she wanted was never the title of Mrs. Heilbronn, but the attention a man gave to his wife

Nathaniel felt extremely wronged. "Aurelia, in three years, your brother won't arrange a marriage for you, will he?"

Aurelia deliberately followed his words. "That's hard to say."

Nathaniel's face immediately darkened. Being in the elite circle, he knew well that these families loved arranging marriages, partly to find a match for their children and partly to develop business.

He couldn't be sure if Joe would use Aurelia to maintain resources by arranging a marriage with another wealthy family's son.

Although The Semona Family didn't lack resources now, there was always the possibility of someone coming to seek a connection. Everything was uncertain.

"Your brother wouldn't really do that, would he?"

Nathaniel asked and then added, "If you dare to marry someone else, I'll camp outside your house every day and see which man dares to marry you."

Aurelia tore open a face mask and applied it. She hadn't told him that Cathy and Joe were planning to introduce her to some eligible men. If she mentioned it, Nathaniel would immediately rush to Coral Bay in a panic.

"You talk too much. I'm not marrying anyone."

Nathaniel's expression relaxed a bit. She said she wouldn't marry anyone, which meant no other man had a chance. And he was still the first in line as a trial boyfriend, so no one else would come before him.

He noticed the background behind Aurelia, her princess-themed bedroom.

"Aurelia, you're out of the hospital?"

"Back home. Actually, I could have been discharged in the morning, but my brother insisted I stay in the hospital until the evening. I was planning to go to work today."

Nathaniel looked at Aurelia through the screen. She seemed to be in good spirits, and it was fortunate she wasn't hurt.

"Aurelia, it's good to observe more."

Nathaniel thought of Burry, far away in Elvenia. He hadn't planned to tell her the truth yet, fearing it would affect her mood. "I already know about Marcus. He was sentenced for attempted rape."

Aurelia paused while applying her face mask. She hadn't been contacted by the police during her day in the hospital. She thought the police would come to her, the victim, to take a statement.

"I didn't know about this."

Nathaniel responded, "Maybe your brother handled it and didn't tell you."

Hearing this, Aurelia remembered Joe frequently taking calls in her hospital room. She had thought he was busy with work, but now it seemed he might have been dealing with Marcus's case.

Nathaniel comforted her when she didn't speak.

"Don't feel guilty because he's my uncle. He harassed you, and I have no sympathy for him. He brought this on himself."

He had made it clear, but Marcus stubbornly believed Aurelia was Burry. Even if he was lovesick, he shouldn't have treated someone else as a substitute.

Aurelia lay down on the bed after applying her face mask. "Actually, he didn't intend to rape me. I was really scared at the time, but thinking back, his goal was to see if I had a red mole on my chest. This sentence seems a bit harsh."

Nathaniel scratched his brow. "If that's really the case, then he might be a bit wronged. I'll think of something."

"Suit yourself." Aurelia felt she couldn't persuade Joe to let Marcus go.

Nathaniel sat back on the sofa, looking relaxed.

"Alright, let's not talk about others. I'm flying to Coral Bay the day after tomorrow. Think about if there's anything you want me to bring."

Aurelia didn't have anything she wanted to bring, except for some local snacks from Imperick. Everything else could be bought in Coral Bay. However, Jacob had been mumbling about wanting his robot these past few days.

"I don't need anything, but your son does."

"Oh? What does Jacob want?"

"Your son wants his robot."

Nathaniel chuckled, thinking of the two robots standing guard at home. The one developed by his company was fine, but the one Jacob had assembled himself was as tall as a person. Bringing it over wouldn't be easy.

But since it was his son's only hobby and something he longed for, he had to find a way. "Alright."
