Chapter 342 Gentleness

Oscar loved children, especially cute girls. He squatted down and waved at Dorothy. "Hey there, little one. I heard your name is Dorothy, right? I'm a very good friend of your mom's. How about I take you to buy a kitty?"

Dorothy looked up at Aurelia. Her mom had taught her not to accept things from strangers and never to go with them. Looking at the flashy-dressed man in front of her, she replied, "Mommy said I can't take things from strangers. I don't want it."

Ulysses took a step forward and squatted down. "How about your godfather takes you to get one? What kind of kitty do you want?"

Dorothy had seen this godfather in videos before. Mommy often talked to him on the phone when they were in Coral Bay. She looked at Aurelia again, wanting to go with her godfather but unsure if Mommy would agree.

Oscar felt a bit hurt. Dorothy seemed to accept Ulysses but not him. Wasn't he better looking than Ulysses?

"Dorothy, I'm also your godfather. If you call me godfather, I'll buy you ten kitties, okay?" Oscar said.

Dorothy was shocked. This man was so generous, offering her ten kitties. She could sleep in a nest of kitties!

Aurelia bent down and formally introduced. "Dorothy, this is your dad's best friend, also your godfather."

"Dad's friend? Can I accept the kitties from godfather?" Dorothy asked.

"Yes."

With her mom's permission, Dorothy clapped her hands happily.

Oscar quickly caught on to the mother-daughter conversation. Did Nathaniel know about the kids? He looked at Aurelia suspiciously, and Aurelia nodded at him.

The worker installing the camera packed up his tools and walked over. "Ms. Semona, it's all set up. You can try it now. You can also install an app on your phone to see the front door anytime, and the display inside the house will show it too."

After checking everything, Aurelia paid the installation fee.

Oscar chuckled obsequiously. "Aurelia, can the two of us take Dorothy out to buy a cat?"

He wanted to take Dorothy out but needed to get the mom's approval first.

Aurelia glanced at the two men and asked, "Do you two know how to take care of a child?"

Both men almost spoke at the same time.

Oscar said, "Yes, I raised my sister."

Ulysses added, "No problem, I took care of my nephew."

Dorothy's eyes were filled with anticipation. "Mommy, I want to go with godfathers to buy a cat."

All three of them looked at her with expectant eyes. Aurelia shrugged. "Alright, buy the cat and come straight home. Stay close to your godfathers and don't go with strangers."

Dorothy nodded.

Aurelia was in a hurry to get to the office. Half the morning was already gone, and she needed to sort out the company's affairs quickly so she could take her children back to Coral Bay once everything was settled.

She checked her watch and, still worried, added, "Oscar, Ulysses, make sure you take good care of Dorothy!"

Oscar patted his chest. "Mission guaranteed."

As soon as Aurelia drove off, Dorothy got into the car with her two godfathers.

Oscar was particularly fond of Dorothy. She was as pretty as a doll and had a sweet voice. He couldn't help but think how lucky Nathaniel was to have such a wonderful daughter.

He wasn't sleepy anymore and focused on taking care of Dorothy. "Dorothy, have you decided what kind of kitty you want?"

Dorothy tilted her little head, thinking hard but couldn't come up with an answer. She liked all kinds of cats, making it hard to choose.

The car arrived at a pet store in the city center. The two men took Dorothy inside for a tour and ended up buying ten cats of different breeds and colors, along with cat food, litter, and toys.

Oscar looked at the car full of treasures and couldn't resist showing off. He took a photo of the cats and included Dorothy's back, then immediately posted it on Facebook, mainly to annoy Nathaniel.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel's family had just finished visiting the cemetery and were on their way back. He opened Facebook, and the first post he saw was from Oscar, with a photo and caption: [Taking my daughter to buy kitties, so happy!]

Nathaniel opened the picture and immediately saw his precious daughter in a princess dress with a bun, playing with a cat. He closed his phone, then opened it again a second later.

Nathaniel felt a bit upset. Oscar was calling Dorothy his daughter!

The more Nathaniel thought about it, the angrier he got.

He called Oscar, and when the call connected, he asked, "Where are you?"

Oscar knew Nathaniel couldn't resist calling, but he didn't expect him to see the post so quickly. He smirked and said, "Didn't you see my Facebook post? I'm taking my daughter to buy cats. Why do you ask?"

Oscar's tone was a bit teasing.

Hearing the word "daughter" made Nathaniel even angrier. He was about to curse when he heard Dorothy's voice on the other end. "Godfather, is this kitty hungry? Can I feed it some canned food?"

Nathaniel clenched his fist tightly. Dorothy had never called him "daddy" but was already calling Oscar "godfather." He was extremely jealous.

"Oscar, give the phone to Dorothy," Nathaniel siad.

Oscar didn't hand the phone to Dorothy right away, deliberately teasing him, "That figurine in your office..."

"You can have it."

"That limited edition Porsche in your garage..."

"The keys are in my office."

"Alright, I'll go get them from your office."

In the end, Oscar didn't give the phone to Dorothy, letting Nathaniel stew in his anger. It served him right for always being so arrogant when asking for favors.

Oscar directed Ulysses to drive to the Heilbronn Group. "I need to get something from Nathaniel's office."

When the car arrived at the Heilbronn Group, Nathaniel was already waiting in the lobby.

To be precise, after Oscar hung up on him, Nathaniel had parted ways with his family and sped back, not even going upstairs, just waiting in the lobby for the call.

Nathaniel was usually stern at the office, and his presence in the lobby made the atmosphere tense. The receptionist didn't dare look up, and employees passing by greeted him quickly and hurried away from the intimidating scene.

Seeing Oscar carrying a cat in one hand and holding Dorothy's hand in the other, Nathaniel quickly walked over, a smile spreading across his face.

His demeanor completely changed, and even his voice was especially gentle. "Dorothy, do you want to see Daddy's office?"

Zack had just come in from outside and saw this scene. His wife had been sick and on leave for a few days. What could have possibly happened in the meantime? Why was their boss referring to a little girl as "daughter"?
