Chapter 78 Chelsea Is in Panic
Chelsea's nonsense revealed how flustered she was inside.
Her reaction relieved Aurelia. After all, she didn't have to do anything now, and Chelsea was almost going crazy.
It was Chelsea who first sent a provocative message, but now she was looking at Aurelia's pregnant belly, consumed by jealousy.
"You seem very interested in our married life. Sorry, I'm not used to sharing the privacy between my husband and me with others."
Chelsea was in no mood for yoga now; the news of Aurelia's pregnancy was a huge blow to her. She had worked so hard, but in the end, she couldn't change the situation.
Seeing herself about to become Mrs. Heilbronn, now being replaced by another woman, she was unwilling.
"It's not a big deal to be pregnant. You have to be lucky enough to give birth to the baby."
Chelsea's words were both a curse and a threat.
When Aurelia recalled the previous incidents, a chill ran down her spine. She thought, ‘This crazy woman dares to do anything, and now I have to figure out a way to ensure my safety.’
"My baby will naturally come into this world safely, but you should be careful not to end up infertile from overdosing on medication. You’d better worry about Nathaniel finding out about your affair one day."
Chelsea's face changed slightly.
"I have a man as outstanding as Nathaniel; I don't need to find another man."
Aurelia laughed at this shameless woman; Nathaniel had been so cold towards her recently, yet she dared to speak so boldly.
"You can call him your man, but he has to acknowledge it. You've known each other for over a decade, and in the end, he married someone else."
"You!"
Chelsea was too angry, pointing her index finger at Aurelia.
At this moment, the prenatal class was about to begin, and the teacher was calling for people in the classroom.
Aurelia ignored her and went inside to find her place. She came to practice yoga, not to argue with Chelsea. It was unfortunate enough to encounter her; she couldn't let it affect her mood.
Chelsea stood angrily outside for a while, but when Aurelia finished her meditation and looked outside, Chelsea was nowhere to be seen.
After the yoga class, Aurelia thought about the threatening words Chelsea had said, and she sat in the car for a long time without moving, finally calling Marcus.
"Uncle Marcus, do you have any reliable bodyguards you can recommend helping me? I feel like someone is targeting me."
On the other end of the line, Marcus paused his meeting and walked quickly outside, his voice filled with tension and worry.
"Aurelia, is something wrong?"
"Not really, just being cautious."
Marcus breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing her response. "Yes, I'll contact someone for you now."
"Uncle Marcus, I need it right now."
Aurelia was truly afraid; she had no choice but to turn to Marcus. She couldn't think of anyone else who could help her and who knew about her pregnancy except Marcus.
She didn't know if Chelsea would send someone to harm her as she did last time. She didn't want to take any chances, so she locked herself in the car and waited.
The two burly bodyguards Marcus arranged quickly arrived at the location she provided. The leader introduced himself first.
"Ms. Semona, I'm Felix." He then pointed to the other man beside him.
"This is Jack. We will be responsible for your safety. We won't usually be in your sight, but we will immediately protect you if there's any danger."
Aurelia didn't catch a word of what he said after he introduced himself as Felix. Could Felix be the mysterious person in her phone contacts? Aurelia was puzzled.
"Let's talk about the fees first. It's my first time hiring bodyguards, so I'm not sure about the usual rates. How much is your salary normally?"
"Our salary has already been prepaid for a year by Mr. Marcus. He instructed that you don't need to worry about this matter."
Aurelia fell silent for a moment, feeling indebted to Marcus once again. She wondered how many meals she would have to treat him to repay the favor.
"Leave me a contact number so I can reach you if needed."
The man named Felix took out his phone and dialed a number. Aurelia's phone rang.
"Ms. Semona, this is my phone number. I am at your service 24/7."
Looking at the caller ID on her screen, 'Mysterious Person Felix,' Aurelia realized it was the alias she had set for the person who had helped her discreetly some time ago.
Her guess was correct; Felix was indeed backed by Marcus.
"24/7 might be too much; I usually won't need you at night."
"We're on standby at all times; it's our duty. If you have any issues, just call this number, and I guarantee we'll answer immediately."
"Alright."
Aurelia was impressed by Felix's dedication. She never expected to find such reassurance from a stranger. If Nathaniel had said those words, she might have been moved to tears.
She chuckled to herself; such a perfect scenario didn't exist in this world.
"I'm heading home now. Follow me discreetly, watch out for any suspicious vehicles on the road, and take action immediately if someone is tailing me."
"Ms. Semona, rest assured. We are professionals and will ensure your safety."
With her anxious heart finally calming down, Aurelia started her car and merged into traffic. The black Volkswagen behind her remained hidden.
When she arrived home, Nathaniel hadn't returned yet.
Betty had prepared dinner; Aurelia had already eaten a sandwich at the office and asked Betty to make some minestrone for dinner.
The kitchen was filled with the aroma of the minestrone that Aurelia loved.
Betty served a bowl of soup in the dining room.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, what else should I make for Mr. Heilbronn for dinner?"
This question caught Aurelia off guard; she didn't know what Nathaniel wanted to eat.
In the past, she would ask him in advance what he wanted to eat and give detailed instructions to Betty for each meal.
She hadn't done this meticulous task in a while.
"Just make whatever he likes."
Her casual response left Betty in a dilemma. Making anything was the most difficult thing to do.
Nathaniel, with all his habits of a wealthy young man, wouldn't touch a meal that didn't suit his taste.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, could you call and ask?"
Aurelia picked up her phone, hesitated for a moment, and then heard the sound of a car engine outside. She no longer needed to make the call.
Nathaniel entered the house, glanced at the dining room, and went upstairs to change and freshen up quickly.
When he came back down, Aurelia had already finished her bowl of minestrone.
He stared at the empty bowl on the table for a while, unable to tell what she had eaten.
"What's for dinner?"
Betty had only made minestrone and asked nervously, "Mrs. Heilbronn had minestrone. Do I need to cook something else for you, Mr. Heilbronn?"
Nathaniel sat next to Aurelia.
"Scoop me a bowl."
Betty quickly served him a bowl and went back to the kitchen to get a spoon. By the time she returned with it, Nathaniel had already started eating from the spoon Aurelia had used.
"What kept you busy today that you didn't even have lunch?"
Aurelia didn't mention her encounter with Chelsea at the yoga studio.
"I was busy with the annual design competition in the design department."
Nathaniel knew that the design competition was held once a year. The winner could receive a raise, while the last-place candidate would face a month of probation. If the probation failed, the candidate would be dismissed.
Nathaniel set this rule to motivate the employees in the design department, which was the core department of the Heilbronn Group's jewelry division.
"How are you preparing?"
It was the first time since Aurelia joined that he asked her about work.
"Not very well."
She answered truthfully. She held herself to high standards, and the design she rushed out today had too many areas that needed improvement. It was just right to meet the deadline and not draw too much attention in the design department, but it couldn't be considered an outstanding piece.
