Chapter 351 Stay-at-Home Dad

He remembered every word she said and carefully prepared breakfast for the two children, keeping their preferences in mind.

Based on his efforts, Aurelia thought he was doing a decent job as a dad.

Nathaniel took the fried eggs out of the pan and brought them to the dining room, where he saw Aurelia staring blankly at the bowls. He set down the eggs with a gentle expression.

"Last time at the mall, I saw this set of tableware and thought it looked nice, so I bought it."

Aurelia smiled and said, "It does look pretty nice."

They placed all the food in the dining room, and Aurelia called out to the living room, "Jacob, Dorothy, dinner's ready!"

The two children were engrossed in their play and only responded with a distracted "Okay," without immediately leaving their toys. Aurelia shook her head helplessly.

Nathaniel called her from the kitchen, "Aurelia, could you give me a hand for a second?"

Aurelia thought they had forgotten to bring something to the table, but when she got to the kitchen, she found Nathaniel with his hands behind his back, struggling with the apron strings. Seeing her come in, Nathaniel simply held out his hands in front of him with a resigned expression.

"It's tied in a knot. Can you help?"

Aurelia went over to help him untie the strings. He had tied it tightly, and it took her quite a bit of effort to undo the knot.

Once it was untied, Nathaniel turned around and naturally bent down. Without thinking much, Aurelia helped him take off the apron from around his neck. The whole action was so smooth and natural, like a couple who had been together for years.

Aurelia's face turned slightly red. She wondered why he bent down just now; the knot was already untied, and he could have taken off the apron himself. Yet, she had instinctively helped him without much thought.

"Let's eat."

Aurelia's tone was slightly awkward. She put the apron aside and went out of the kitchen to call Jacob and Dorothy.

Nathaniel washed his hands in the kitchen, his eyes frequently drifting to the living room through the kitchen's glass door. Aurelia was guiding the two children to the bathroom, reminding them about the importance of washing their hands before eating.

Such lively breakfast moments reminded him of his own childhood. This felt like a real home.

Aurelia returned with the two children after washing their hands, and Nathaniel had set the table. The children, now hungry, quickly took their seats, sitting opposite each other.

Nathaniel and Aurelia took the remaining two seats, with Nathaniel and Dorothy on one side and Aurelia and Jacob on the other.

Nathaniel wasn't very confident in his cooking skills. After all, he was quite a novice in the kitchen, and what little he knew, he had learned from Betty.

Regardless of the taste, the meal was abundant, with a colorful array of dishes. Following Betty's instructions, there were carbohydrates, proteins, and dietary fiber.

Fortunately, the children didn't mind and were quite considerate. Jacob finished his bowl of kids' pasta, and Dorothy, with a smaller appetite, left a little bit on her plate.

Aurelia was eating a sandwich, thinking about last night, and unconsciously stretched her leg. The next second, she froze. Her foot had just kicked Nathaniel's opposite her.

Their eyes met again, and Nathaniel didn't pull back his leg; instead, he moved it a bit closer.

Aurelia inexplicably felt her ears heat up.

After the meal, Aurelia took the initiative to clean up the kitchen. As she was washing, Nathaniel leaned against the counter, silently watching her.

Everything in the kitchen was brand new, looking like it had never been used before.

"When did you learn to cook?" Aurelia asked.

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and answered honestly, "Just recently, from Betty."

His answer naturally made Aurelia think he was doing his homework to be a good dad, and she gave him more points for his role as a father.

Nathaniel used to dislike going into the kitchen, but at this moment, he suddenly felt that cooking for the ones he loved was a kind of happiness. Seeing the two children and Aurelia finish their favorite foods at the table just now made him feel very satisfied.

He remembered how Aurelia used to be busy in the kitchen, even though he rarely ate the late-night snacks she made. He didn't have the habit of eating late at night, and after eating, he had to exercise for a long time to burn off the extra calories. He only ate them to show appreciation for her efforts.

He had advised her many times to rest when she had nothing to do and that there was no need to go into the kitchen, but she wouldn't listen. She would study recipes tirelessly every day, inventing many dishes. Although most of them didn't taste great, it didn't dampen her enthusiasm for cooking.

Now he somewhat understood her feelings back then.

After cleaning the kitchen, it was time to go to work. Aurelia thought of another problem: what about the two children?

At her own villa, she could go to work with peace of mind because Dahlia was there to take care of the children. But in this house, it was just the four of them. If both she and Nathaniel went to work, she couldn't leave the two children at home alone.

Nathaniel had already changed into a suit and saw Aurelia at the entrance, ready to change her shoes but hesitating.

"Aurelia, what's wrong?"

Aurelia looked up at him. "What about Jacob and Dorothy?"

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow slightly and said calmly, "Take them with us."

Aurelia was surprised.

"Take them where? To the office?"

She couldn't imagine what kind of chaos the two children would cause in a new place. Although Jacob and Dorothy weren't particularly mischievous, they were at an age where they loved to play. She still remembered the first time the two kids went to the office with Joe and printed an entire box of Mickey Mouse stickers with his office printer, sticking them all over the lobby.

Aurelia had just taken over as the company's chairwoman and wasn't familiar with everyone yet. She thought it best to avoid such situations.

Thinking of this, she firmly said, "No, that's not possible."

Nathaniel chuckled softly.

"I'll take them. You don't have to."

Aurelia asked, "Can you handle it?"

Nathaniel tried to keep his emotions in check, but he couldn't hide his eagerness.

"Absolutely."

Aurelia's face showed a hint of doubt, but she quickly returned to normal.

'Everyone has to start somewhere, right?' she thought.

Aurelia packed water bottles, wet wipes, disinfectant wipes, and light jackets for the two kids.

She put these daily items into a backpack, and before she could say anything, Nathaniel had already slung the bag over his shoulder. The mommy bag she had specially bought now hung on his shoulder, giving Aurelia a strange feeling.

Nathaniel was doing a great job as a dad, looking more like a nice dad than a CEO.

The family of four went out, with the two children sitting in the back and Aurelia in the front passenger seat.

Nathaniel first drove to Thompson Enterprises and dropped off Aurelia.

Aurelia waved to the three in the car and gave the children a few more instructions before stepping into the building with peace of mind.
