Chapter 238 Go to Her Office
With the help of the sleeping pill, Aurelia finally had a good night's sleep.
Over the course of the night, she came to terms with the fact that she had met him again after four years. For Aurelia, life had to go on.
The two kids hadn't been to preschool for several days, so the most urgent task was to finalize their admission to the new school.
After a quick wash, she went to Joe's place to ask him which preschool it was that Dorothy had mentioned yesterday, planning to visit it together when they had time.
As she approached the door of the study room, she was about to knock on it when she overheard a conversation between Joe and his assistant.
"Mr. Semona, the woman who harmed Miss Semona has been dealt with thoroughly. Nathaniel is quite ruthless; he has tortured Maria to the point of being unrecognizable. We actually gave her a quick end."
She heard Joe said, "That woman had several murders on her record; she should have been executed long ago. Any news on Chelsea?"
The assistant replied, "Still no sign of her. We should have dealt with that venomous woman long ago. Now that she's escaped, finding her is like looking for a needle in a haystack."
Joe paused and said, "I have my principles; I won't cross the line. Besides, her body carries my aunt's heart. Letting her go was also out of reluctance to destroy a part that belongs to my aunt. As long as that heart is still beating, I feel like she's still alive."
Hearing that, Aurelia's raised hand slowly fell. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop but had happened to overhear a secret related to her mother.
She had investigated Brenda's death for years without finding any useful clues, yet Joe had already uncovered everything.
She knew her mother had signed an organ donation agreement but didn't know her mother's heart had been transplanted into Chelsea's body. She recalled the year her mother had the accident, which coincided with Chelsea's frequent illnesses.
Piecing these events together, Aurelia was terrified..
Her mother's death was no accident. Did the person who harmed her do it to take her heart?
She knew Chelsea and her mother were both lunatics. After experiencing those dangerous events, she believed they were capable of such deeds.
Joe must have found some strong evidence; otherwise, he wouldn't have dealt with that vicious Maria.
Aurelia stood at the door, feeling a chill down her spine.
Thinking about her mother's heart now beating in that vile Chelsea's body triggered her to commit murder.
The door to the study opened from the inside, and Joe's assistant was startled to see Aurelia outside, he then turned to look at Joe.
Joe had instructed him to keep the findings from Aurelia, fearing she couldn't handle the news. For the past four years, they had been dealing with these matters in secret. Seeing Aurelia's expression now, it was clear she had heard everything.
Joe saw Aurelia at the door and his expression turned serious. He told his assistant, "You can go now."
The assistant sidestepped out of the study.
Aurelia, with teary eyes, finally asked, "Joe, was it those two women who did this to my mother?"
Joe observed her expression and slowly nodded, confirming her assumptions. He explained, "Four years ago, I went to Imperick to investigate this. To avoid alerting Chelsea and her mother, I didn't reunite with you immediately. I never expected that you would later almost lose your life. While you were in a coma, I discovered the truth."
Given the brutal truth, he had never planned. to tell Aurelia as she had already endured so much. Joe had planned to handle it without telling her, but now it was clear he couldn't hide it any longer. He decided to tell her everything.
Joe continued, "Maria framed your mother for two reasons; to become the mistress and to transplant her heart into Chelsea's body. Such a vicious act was indeed done by those two. Maria is now dead in prison, while Chelsea has escaped. Our people have been searching for her for four years without any leads."
Hearing Joe tell her the truth in person, Aurelia felt a lump in her throat.
Aurelia asked hesitantly, "So Chelsea's heart had no issues at all, and every time she pretended to be sick, it was all an act, right?"
Joe nodded in acknowledgment. He replied, "Most likely, yes."
Thinking about her mother's heart being in the body of the person who harmed her, and Aurelia's heart was filled with hatred, wanting to tear Chelsea apart.
Joe worried she couldn't handle it as he tried to calm her down.
He suggested cautiously, "Aurelia, since you know everything now, there's something I want to discuss with you. I want to move Brenda's grave to Coral Bay. She suffered too much in that city; we shouldn't leave her alone in that cold place. What do you think?"
Aurelia wiped her tears and agreed, "Move it. I haven't visited my mother's grave in a long time. It would be more convenient if it were moved."
Joe agreed, "Okay, then I'll find someone to look into it. When the time is right, we'll go to Imperick together to bring her home."
Aurelia's nose was red from crying, and Joe pitied her, then he comforted her, "Don't cry. It's all in the past. We'll settle this score eventually."
Aurelia sniffled while trying to calm herself from crying. Over the years, she had gotten used to keeping things to herself, only opening up to her family.
She composed herself a bit and said, "Joe, I came to discuss with you about choosing a new preschool for Jacob and Dorothy. Which one did you look at yesterday?"
Joe took out a form from the drawer, showed it to her and said, "This international preschool isn't far from our home, about a ten-minute drive. The environment is good, and I've already had someone check it out. The faculty is excellent. We had planned to visit it with the kids yesterday when you got back."
Aurelia carefully looked at the form and asked, "Joe, when do you have time to go with us?"
Joe tidied up his desk as he said, "Let's have breakfast first, and then we'll go."
The kids being able to go to school was a priority. Aurelia planned to push her work aside for today and finalize their admission to the preschool first.
She hadn't been to the studio for a day, and today Anne Studio had a distinguished guest.
Nathaniel, dressed as a business elite, appeared at the door of Anne Studio.
Given his status in this industry, no designer didn't recognize his face.
Aurelia's assistant, Aurora, opened the door and was stunned to see this business mogul who often appeared in the news. Despite having seen many wealthy people over the years, she was still momentarily taken aback.
This was Nathaniel, the head of the Heilbronn Group, a legendary figure in the industry.
"Is your designer Anne here?" Nathaniel asked.
Aurora replied woodenly, "Yes, yes."
A moment later, she shook off her reverie and remembered her boss wasn't in today. She corrected herself, "Sorry, Anne's not here today. Mr. Heilbronn, would you like to come in? I can call her for you."
Nathaniel had planned to leave upon hearing Aurelia wasn't there, but the assistant's invitation piqued his curiosity about her workplace.
He followed Aurora inside to Aurelia's office.
