Chapter 291 Has Mrs. Heilbronn replied?
Before long, Gabriel's assistant rolled in a food cart loaded with chilled fruits, drinks, mineral water, and some small desserts.
Aurelia sat quietly as her phone buzzed. It was a message from Zack: [Mrs. Heilbronn, Mr. Heilbronn has woken up. Are you coming over later?]
Aurelia rubbed her temples, feeling the aftereffects of staying up late, her head pounding.
[I'm busy right now, can't make it. You take care of him.]
On the other end, Nathaniel lay in bed, listening to Zack read Aurelia's message. His eyes dimmed instantly. He shouldn't have slept; he knew this would happen. She would definitely leave while he was out.
Zack, holding the phone, asked anxiously, "Mr. Heilbronn, what should I say back?"
"Tell her all I want is the noodles she made last night."
Zack's fingers flew over the phone screen, quickly sending the message.
Nathaniel leaned back with his hands behind his head. As soon as Zack sent the message, he asked, "Did Mrs. Heilbronn reply?"
Zack was about to say no when a message from Aurelia's Facebook came in. He read it out loud, word by word, "Mr. Heilbronn, Mrs. Heilbronn said that the noodles you had last night were the last serving. She'll order you some takeout!"
Just as he finished speaking, another message from Aurelia came in, a screenshot of the takeout order.
Zack asked nervously, "Mr. Heilbronn, what should I say back?"
Nathaniel felt a pang in his heart. When he used to be sick, she would always be by his bedside, chattering away, bringing him food non-stop. If he didn't eat the boiled noodles, she'd make oatmeal instead.
But now, he couldn't even get a sip of soup.
Nathaniel composed himself, saying, "Give me your phone."
Reluctantly, Zack handed over his phone. Nathaniel, intending to send a message to Aurelia under Zack's name, accidentally opened a message from a contact named "Baby."
[Honey, I can't wait for you to come back by plane. I made your favorite roast beef. Can your boss give you a day off today? I miss you!]
Nathaniel accidentally read the whole message, and it made him feel even more upset.
He never thought he'd be envious of his assistant one day.
Suppressing his bitterness, he switched the chat to Aurelia and sent her a message: [Mrs. Heilbronn, Mr. Heilbronn is not in good spirits right now. The doctor said he might recover faster if you were by his side. He's really pitiful. Could you spare some time to come see him? I'm worried his illness might relapse, and Marcus is always looking for an opportunity to cause trouble at the company.]
A few minutes later, Aurelia replied: [Find a psychologist. I'm very busy at the moment. It's better to find professionals. After all, I don't know much about this.]
Nathaniel was completely disheartened this time.
He had made himself sound so pitiful, yet she still wouldn't come to see him.
Nathaniel felt a sharp pain in his heart. Then, Aurelia sent a photo, proving she was indeed busy.
Nathaniel zoomed in on the photo, examining every corner. His eyes widened when he saw a suit jacket draped over a chair.
Among the people he knew, only Marcus wore that brand.
Realizing this, Nathaniel couldn't hold back any longer. He handed the phone back to Zack and said coldly, "Find out where this place with those chairs is. Let me know as soon as you have results."
Zack wiped his forehead. Finding a place based on a chair? That was a tall order.
"Mr. Heilbronn, I'll do my best."
Zack quickly sent out the message. Fortunately, he recognized the suit and, judging by Mr. Heilbronn's reaction, deduced that the suit's owner was likely someone he disliked.
He then had someone track Marcus's whereabouts, and soon the results came in.
"Mr. Heilbronn, the place in the photo is Oakmont Manor, and Aurelia is there too."
Of course, Nathaniel knew Aurelia was there.
He forced himself to sit up and get out of bed.
"We're going there now."
Zack was stunned and said, "Mr. Heilbronn, your fever has just subsided, your stomach hasn't recovered yet, and the rash on your body hasn't gone away. You should rest more."
Nathaniel ignored him and went into the walk-in closet to change. In less than two minutes, he came out in a suit, wearing the tie Aurelia had bought him four years ago.
Zack thought to himself, 'Mr. Heilbronn has fallen head over heels for her. He's willing to risk his life to pursue Aurelia.'
Seeing that he couldn't dissuade him, Zack quickly packed the medicine Dr. Carter had prescribed, filled a thermos with hot water, and grabbed a blanket.
As they were about to leave, the delivery guy arrived.
Zack, carrying a large bag like a nanny, followed behind, saying, "Mr. Heilbronn, what about the takeout?"
Nathaniel held back his frustration and said, "Put it in the fridge."
When had he ever eaten takeout? But it was her gesture, after all.
Zack, carrying the large bag, opened the door. Aurelia had ordered three portions of noodles from that restaurant, each with a different flavor. But would the noodles still be edible after sitting for a while?
Zack spent another three minutes taking out the disposable containers and arranging them neatly in the fridge. Nathaniel, already impatient at the door, felt suffocated thinking about Aurelia and Marcus being in the same place.
They went downstairs, and Zack floored the gas pedal. Fortunately, Oakmont Manor wasn't far from his home, less than a half-hour drive. Zack parked the car next to Marcus's Maybach.
"Mr. Heilbronn, we're here."
At that moment, Marcus and Patrick were still competing, neither willing to concede, especially in front of Aurelia. Losing this game would be worse than losing a big contract for the company.
Aurelia, feeling extremely bored, was chatting with Ulysses on her phone, oblivious to the approaching figures. She smiled faintly at Ulysses's messages.
Reaching for the water cup on the table, she felt something warm in her hand.
Startled, Aurelia turned to find a cup of cappuccino in her hand, while her water cup sat alone on the side.
Zack put down the bag and said with a grin, "Mrs. Heilbronn, the coffee is just bought. Be careful, it's hot."
Despite his sickly appearance, Nathaniel's charm remained intact, adding a touch of warmth to his otherwise stern features.
Aurelia thought, 'I know Zack's words couldn't be trusted. On Facebook, he made Nathaniel sound like he couldn't take care of himself, but here he was, standing perfectly fine. Apart from pale lips and a slightly poor complexion, he didn't seem any different.'
To find her in a city of millions, he couldn't be that sick, needing constant care.
