Chapter 455 Siblings Separated for Many Years

On the other side, Aurelia and Nathaniel got into the car.

Aurelia and Madeline were quite familiar with each other, but it was the first time she met Dominic, and she had a good impression of him.

"Do the Sawyer family and the Heilbronn family have business dealings?"

Nathaniel, driving, answered her question, "Not much, occasionally we invest in small projects together and do some charity work for Imperick. Dominic is an upright and trustworthy person, and he has a good private relationship with Grandpa. When Phoenix was a kid, he often came to my house with his dad."

Aurelia paused and asked again, "Does Dominic not have a wife?"

"Phoenix's mom died of an amniotic fluid embolism after giving birth to him. Dominic has been single ever since and never remarried."

Aurelia was filled with emotion. Nowadays, few men could stay faithful to their deceased wives for a lifetime, especially someone like Dominic who has power and money.

"Dominic is a devoted person. He must have loved his wife very much."

Coincidentally, the light turned red, and Nathaniel stopped the car, glancing sideways at her, "Aurelia, so am I."

If it weren't for their reunion, he would have lived his life like that, never remarrying. No one else could replace her.

Aurelia was stunned. "Nathaniel, Norman mentioned your dad that day."

Nathaniel's eyelid twitched. "What do you mean?"

"Do you think we could be long-lost siblings?"

Nathaniel was taken aback by her question, feeling a rush of blood. What kind of heart-wrenching question was that?

But it wasn't impossible.

Nathaniel's face turned grim, and he didn't say another word until they drove back to the Bloom Villa and parked in the garage.

That night, Aurelia took off her long dress, folded it neatly, and planned to send it for cleaning the next day to save it for important occasions.

Aurelia went to the walk-in closet and found a comfortable nightgown. She stared at the familiar clothes and bags in the closet. Many of these clothes were made by designers according to her measurements and sent directly by Nathaniel. They were still hanging in the closet as she used to.

She thought, 'If Dominic could do that for his wife, how could Nathaniel be any different?'

This home had always been waiting for her to come back.

After removing her makeup, Aurelia found Nathaniel still in the study. She cut a plate of watermelon and knocked on the door.

A faint smell of smoke wafted out from the study. Nathaniel had smoked several cigarettes and was suddenly feeling very irritated. He was worried about the question she had asked on the road. Even if there was a one in ten thousand chance, he couldn't accept it.

Aurelia placed the watermelon on the table and saw that he wasn't working. The computer wasn't even on. He was just sitting in the leather chair with a cigarette in his hand, his legs naturally crossed.

She asked, "Aren't you going to take a shower?"

Nathaniel looked at her as she came in, extinguished the cigarette in his hand, and threw it into the ashtray. He looked at her blankly.

"Aurelia..."

"Yes?"

Nathaniel reached out to her, and the next second, he pulled her into his arms, "What if we are half-siblings?"

This time, he asked the question, and both of them were stunned, looking at each other. This question had no answer.

After a moment of silence, Aurelia held Nathaniel's ears with both hands and observed him carefully.

"Nathaniel, I don't think it's that dramatic. We don't look alike at all, and if we were related, your dad would have stopped us from getting married."

"Have you ever thought that my dad might not even know your mom's name?"

This statement made them both fall silent again. In those wild and indulgent settings, sleeping with a woman was too easy. Afterward, they would go their separate ways, not caring about each other's names, and most likely never seeing each other again in this lifetime.

Nathaniel tightened his grip on Aurelia's waist.

"Aurelia, what should I do with you?"

He thought to himself, 'If things were really that coincidental, he would rather be a fool and pretend not to know anything. He couldn't leave her.'

Aurelia asked in a low voice, "Why don't you ask your dad?"

Nathaniel hesitated for a moment, then opened his phone and called Matthew. He couldn't calm down at all.

After a few seconds of ringing, the call was answered.

"Dad."

Matthew was about to sleep. He had been adjusting his schedule to go to bed early and wake up early. "What's up?"

"Do you remember a dinner party with Dominic and a few others more than twenty years ago?"

Nathaniel added, "There was a beautiful woman that night. She drank and ate something unclean."

The other end of the line was silent for a few seconds. Nathaniel and Aurelia both became nervous, their palms sweating.

Matthew said, "How could I remember something from so long ago? I've been to too many parties. If I could remember each one, I'd be a god."

Nathaniel asked again, "Did you go home that night, or did you stay out?"

Matthew was annoyed by his son's question. His wife always suspected and checked on him, and now his son was doing the same. It was so many years ago that he couldn't remember.

"Did your mom say something to you? Mind your own business and stay out of your elders' affairs."

Matthew scolded and hung up the phone.

The call only made things worse. Matthew's attitude was very suspicious.

Both of them felt even more uncomfortable.

Nathaniel was tormented inside. He felt it was necessary to do a paternity test between Aurelia and Matthew. This thorn in his heart had to be removed, or he wouldn't be able to live in peace.

The next day, Nathaniel went back to the Heilbronn Villa, pretending to help Reed get something. When he reached the third floor, he sneaked into Matthew's bedroom and collected a few hairs from his pillow.

Aurelia spent the day at the company and took a cab to Ulysses' house after work.

Dorothy's ten cats were being taken care of by Ulysses and Oscar. Dorothy had heard that her mom was back in Imperick and had asked several times over the phone to see the cats and for her to take videos of them.

When Aurelia arrived at Ulysses' house, he was busy in the kitchen wearing an apron, while Oscar was in the living room playing games with a bag of chips.

Seeing Aurelia, Oscar threw the game controller on the table.

"Aureli, you're here? Why didn't Nathaniel come with you?"

Aurelia checked her phone, "He said he'd come to pick me up later. He had something to do at the Heilbronn Villa."

"He actually let you take a cab here. You should punish him when you get back!"

Oscar teased, and Aurelia played along, "Definitely, I'll hit him."

Oscar felt relieved for Nathaniel. It was good that four years ago, they had pulled Nathaniel out of hell. Otherwise, four years later, would Aurelia still want him if she saw him in that state?
