Chapter 185 Peeling Shrimp

Joe looked annoyed as he stared out the window.

"Didn't I tell the security guard to keep Nathaniel out? How did he get in?"

The assistant, looking upset, replied, "Mr. Semona, he bought a house here, so the guard couldn't stop him."

Joe stubbed out his cigarette and tossed it in the trash. "How are Chelsea and Maria?"

"They've lost it," the assistant said.

"I need to go back to Coral Bay for a few days. You stay here and keep an eye on things. Make sure Aurelia is safe," Joe instructed.

"Yes, Mr. Semona," the assistant replied.

At dinner, Nathaniel had a fancy meal delivered.

Aurelia had been making simple meals for herself and hadn't had much of an appetite. It had been a while since she had such a feast.

Looking at the table full of food, Aurelia thought it was wasteful; they couldn't finish it all.

Nathaniel donned a pair of disposable gloves and began peeling shrimp for her. He would peel one, and she'd eat it right away, not touching any of the other dishes on the table.

He was a no-nonsense guy who usually didn't go out of his way to take care of others. For the past three years, it had been her peeling shrimp while he enjoyed them. Now, the roles were reversed. Aurelia watched him with his head bowed, the sunlight casting a soft glow on his face, making him seem unusually gentle.

This kind of brief, tender moment was a rarity in their three years together, and Aurelia found herself mesmerized.

Before long, Nathaniel had piled up a small mountain of shrimp shells in front of him. As he peeled the last shrimp and looked up, his eyes met hers.

"Are you just going to eat this?" he asked.

Aurelia paused, not wanting to admit she enjoyed watching him peel shrimp for her.

"I'm almost full," she said, picking up some vegetables to change the subject.

After dinner, Nathaniel put on his coat and said, "I'm going to the hospital."

Aurelia didn't care where he went as long as long as he didn't bother her.

She had a class to teach tonight and design work to finish. She had been slacking off and needed to catch up.

In the hospital, Reed was in high spirits, walking around with Ted's help.

Ted said happily, "Mr. Heilbronn, you haven't been this happy in a long time."

Reed grinned, "Good news lifts the spirits. I feel like I could be discharged now. Ted, do you think my great-grandchild will be a boy or a girl?"

Ted smiled, "It doesn't matter. With Mr. Nathaniel Heilbronn and the young Mrs. Heilbronn's looks, the child will be smart and beautiful. When they come back, the Heilbronn Villa will be lively."

Reed was positively beaming, his heart melting at the thought of a little one trailing behind him, calling him great-grandpa.

Nathaniel walked in just as this scene unfolded. Reed's expression was more jubilant than when he'd clinched multi-million-dollar deals for the company.

With the arrival of his great-grandson, Reed's mood had shifted, and even Nathaniel, who had often been a thorn in his side, seemed to be a bit more endearing to him. For once, Reed's initial reaction upon seeing Nathaniel wasn't one of irritation.

"Grandpa, I asked the doctor, and it's confirmed that Aurelia is pregnant," Nathaniel said.

Nathaniel was there to break the news, but Reed snorted, "I don't need you to tell me. You're a clueless husband. Aurelia's belly is already showing, and you didn't even notice. I don't know why she loves you, idiot! When's the due date?"

Nathaniel was stumped; he had no idea.

Seeing his embarrassed look, Reed knew Nathaniel was clueless. He wondered, 'How Nathaniel manages to run the company with such a brain. Maybe he only knows business.'

'He has no clue about women.'

Reed said disdainfully, "Alright, go ask Aurelia when the due date is so we can prepare. We'll book the best obstetrician in Imperick. Your current house is too small. Once the baby is born, move into the new house I bought for Aurelia. Don't upset her, or I'll deal with you."

Nathaniel rubbed his forehead helplessly. Reed didn't give him any respect in front of Ted, still treating him like a child.

He nodded, "Got it."

Now, Aurelia was his direct superior. If she were unhappy, he wouldn't be at ease.

After seeing Reed, Nathaniel called Zack, "Bring the specialist to diagnose Chelsea."

Mentioning Chelsea made Nathaniel's mood heavy. He reluctantly walked towards Chelsea's ward.

Chelsea was sleeping soundly inside.

Maria had been transferred to another ward, so it was quiet.

Norman was sitting on a bench outside the ward. Seeing Nathaniel approach, he quickly stood up, "Mr. Heilbronn, you're here?"

Nathaniel nodded, his gaze returning to the room, "Why is she sleeping now?"

Norman sighed, "Pregnant women tend to sleep more. She's been tired these past few days."

Nathaniel responded, "Wake her up in ten minutes. The specialist is on the way to examine her."

Hearing this, Norman became anxious, his eyes darting around. His hands rubbed together, sweating.

Nathaniel then said, "You stay here and remember to call her. I'll go talk to the director."

Norman sighed again, watching Nathaniel disappear down the hallway. He hurriedly ran into the ward and shook the sleeping Chelsea awake.

"Wake up, Chelsea. Something's happened!" Norman called out.

Chelsea, still groggy, was having a sweet dream when she was interrupted.

"Dad, don't bother me, let me sleep a bit more," she said.

Norman was extremely anxious, "Wake up quickly. Nathaniel is bringing a specialist."

Hearing "specialist," Chelsea sat up abruptly, her mind racing. She smoothed her messy hair, "Dad, what should I do? Should I run away?"

Norman paced anxiously, "Chelsea, what are you thinking? Even if you could escape, Nathaniel would catch you. Don't you still want to be Mrs. Heilbronn?"

Chelsea was on the verge of tears, "Dad, what should I do now?"

She had just woken up to such explosive news that her mind was reeling, unable to process anything clearly. All she could think about was one thing: if her ruse to deceive Nathaniel was exposed, it would be the end of her.

This must not be discovered.

Norman stopped pacing, "Do you remember what I told you last time?"

Chelsea wiped her tears, "What?"

Norman glared at her, frustrated.

Meanwhile, Zack, with several bodyguards, escorted the specialist from the car to the hospital.

Nathaniel had been talking with the director, waiting downstairs to receive them.
