Chapter 506 I Really Have No Other Way

"Beatrice, this gem is really beautiful, but I can't take something you love. You should keep it. Maybe another time, you can get a pair of earrings made, and the leftover material should be enough for a pendant."

Aurelia's tone was calm and polite, seemingly refusing Beatrice's gift, but in reality, she was blocking any further requests from her.

Everyone could learn to be a hypocrite, couldn't they?

Beatrice was taken aback.

"Aurelia, you never used to be so formal with me. We're family; there's no need to be so distant. When I have something good, I naturally think of you."

Beatrice played the emotional card first. Aurelia had been married into the Heilbronn family for a few years now and was known for her soft heart. Beatrice believed she could mend their relationship.

Aurelia glanced at her watch.

"Sorry, I need to pick up the kids. You should head back to the hotel."

Beatrice panicked and grabbed Aurelia's arm to stop her from leaving.

"Aurelia, don't go. I haven't finished talking. I'm here mainly to ask for your help regarding my brother. Could you please put in a good word with Joe? To me, it's just a matter of a few words, and my brother will be grateful. Aurelia, I'm begging you today. Please call Joe. He cares about you and will listen to you."

Beatrice had never begged anyone like this in her life. If it weren't for her brother's trouble and her mother's orders to resolve it, she wouldn't be here. She had flown back overnight, spent a day in Imperick, and found the situation more complicated than she had imagined. Joe showed no intention of protecting Thaddeus, leaving him to the police.

Thaddeus was in serious trouble.

She had exhausted her funds and asked many people for help, but no one saw any hope for a resolution.

Now, all her hopes rested on Aurelia. If Joe were willing to let Thaddeus off the hook and treat it as a regular construction accident, Thaddeus might have a chance.

"Aurelia."

Beatrice wiped her tears, ignoring the employees watching.

"I really have no other options. I haven't asked you for anything over the years. Please help me with this. My brother is the only male in our family. If something happens to him, the Heilbronn family will have no one left, and his two kids would not know what to do.

If he goes to prison, it will stain his record, affecting his children's future education and job prospects. I'm desperate and have no choice but to ask you."

Aurelia found it ironic. Beatrice, who usually looked down on people, was now begging her. She despised people who changed their attitude based on circumstances, and Beatrice was the epitome of that.

"I really can't help with what you're asking. Joe is a principled man, and so am I. I believe the police won't wrong him and will release him eventually."

Beatrice was on the verge of tears. She had pleaded for so long, but Aurelia hadn't budged.

She had already offered a gift and humbled herself. What more could she do?

Beatrice thought of her mother's words: without her brother, she was nothing. Feeling bitter, she continued,

"Aurelia, are you still holding a grudge over past issues? I'll apologize now. You know I have a sharp tongue. Don't take my past words to heart. I've always considered you family. During the years you were away from the Heilbronn family, I accompanied Nathaniel in eating vegetarian and praying, hoping you'd be reborn into a good family. I didn't expect we'd have the chance to be family again.

When you and Nathaniel remarry, I'll handle everything and throw a grand wedding."

Aurelia didn't even want to get married, let alone have a grand wedding.

"Beatrice, I really don't have time. Please leave."

Aurelia grabbed her bag from the shelf and walked past Beatrice towards the door.

Beatrice grabbed her wrist.

"Aurelia."

She shouted, then softened her tone.

"Aurelia, what do you want me to do? Name your price, and if I can do it, I will."

Aurelia chuckled.

"You want me to name a price? Fine, I want you to stop coming to my company. It's not good for the employees to see this, and they're here to work, not gossip. You come one day to scold me and another to beg me. How are my employees supposed to work?"

The employees, who had been watching, quickly pretended to be busy.

In the company chat group, the conversation was buzzing.

"Is that Mr. Heilbronn's mom? She scared me. I thought she was here to cause trouble again. It hasn't been long since she last came to scold people. What happened to change her attitude so quickly?"

"Maybe Anna and Mr. Heilbronn divorced because of their bad relationship. Beatrice isn't easy to deal with. Anna must have had a tough time."

"Rich families are scary. Beatrice changes her attitude so quickly. Luckily, Anna is talented and comes from a good background. Otherwise, Beatrice would definitely make things difficult for her. Mr. Heilbronn has a tough job winning her back!"

Beatrice glanced at the office area, ignoring the employees' stares. It was a critical moment.

The police had already taken Thaddeus, and the situation was beyond financial control.

If she delayed any longer, no one could save him.

"Aurelia, haven't you thought about rejoining the Heilbronn family with Nathaniel? If you want to marry in, you have to accept me. Don't trust a man's love too much. Wives can change, but a mother is irreplaceable. I don't believe Nathaniel would ignore his own mother.

Think about it?"

Aurelia laughed in exasperation. Beatrice had resorted to using her status as Nathaniel's mother to threaten her.

"Beatrice, I really haven't thought about rejoining your family."

Aurelia said, walking towards the door and locking eyes with Nathaniel.
Can't win me back
