Chapter 339 I'll Give You Three Million Dollars, Stay Away from My Son

Aurelia walked into the yard and recognized the familiar voices outside.

She thought it was a criminal, so she came out holding Jacob's children's baseball bat, only to find out they were Beatrice and Ashley.

Aurelia didn't expect they to find their way here. She didn't provoke anyone, yet that mother and daughter duo came looking for trouble.

"Dahlia, come back inside," Aurelia said.

Dahlia was on the verge of tears from the argument. She had never encountered such rude people before. They were dressed in luxurious clothes like high society folks but spoke in the most vulgar manner, saying all sorts of nasty things to insult Aurelia, especially those that demeaned women.

As a fellow woman, she couldn't imagine how they could say such horrible things.

Hearing Aurelia's voice, the scene quieted down for a few seconds. But only for a few seconds, as all attention turned to her.

Beatrice rarely got this emotional, but today, for some reason, she seemed ready to confront Aurelia head-on. "Aurelia, if you have the guts, come out and face me."

Aurelia calmly walked out, holding the baseball bat. "What do we have to talk about? Do we have any relationship?"

Beatrice sniffed, infuriated. She had been playing bridge with some ladies when Ashley called, "Mom, Nathaniel didn't go to work today. He went to the airport to pick up Aurelia and some other man's child. He wants to be someone else's kid's stepfather. First, he doesn't want me as his sister, and now he doesn't even care about the company."

This made Beatrice extremely angry. She left her card game to find out Aurelia's whereabouts and finally tracked her down.

Nathaniel scolding her daughter a few times, Beatrice could barely tolerate, after all, blood was thicker than water. He would eventually have to take care of his sister. But him abandoning the company to be someone else's kid's stepfather crossed Beatrice's line.

Over at the company, Marcus was eyeing the position, forming alliances and vying for power. Her foolish son, ever since discovering that woman wasn't dead, seemed bewitched, ignoring everything else. The company was on the brink of being handed over to someone else.

How would the family survive in the future?

With Marcus, that seemingly kind but ruthless man, would there still be a place for their lineage in the company?

The more Beatrice thought about it, the more anxious she became, believing it was all Aurelia's doing. "Aurelia, you really have some skills. How did you bewitch my son to the point where he doesn't even want the company and is eager to raise your child with another man?"

Aurelia took a deep breath, controlling the urge to swing the baseball bat, waiting for the police to come and take them away. "Beatrice, you're scaring my children."

Beatrice thought about how she had introduced so many suitable girls for her son, but he didn't even look at them. He seemed bewitched by the woman in front of her. Because of this, she had offended many ladies in their circle, and no one was willing to introduce anyone to her anymore. Every time someone was introduced, Nathaniel would give them a cold shoulder.

How did she end up with such a foolish son, rejecting a line of eligible women to be with a woman who had a child, taking on the role of a stepfather? Why was Nathaniel so obsessed with Aurelia?

"Aurelia, how much do you want from the Heilbronn family to cut ties with my son? Name a price, and I can meet it today. Is three million dollars enough to raise your child?" Beatrice asked.

Ashley gasped when she heard her mother mention three million dollars. "Mom, are you crazy? Why give her three million dollars?"

Ashley turned to Aurelia and said, "Aurelia, if you have any sense, you'll leave on your own and stop clinging to my brother. Do you think a family like the Heilbronn family can accept someone else's child? My brother marrying you would be a disgrace to the family. This villa may be a bit old, but you can still sell it for some money. Why not sell it and rent a place in the countryside? I bet you can't even afford the electricity bill for this villa, can you?"

Aurelia's gaze shifted between the mother and daughter, her expression one of incredulity. "Are you two serious? If you need help, there are professionals you can talk to. But don't expect me to take your nonsense seriously."

Beatrice's face turned red with anger as she steadied her breath. She thought offering three million dollars was already a generous gesture, but this arrogant woman not only didn't take it seriously but also insulted her.

Last time they met, Aurelia had respectfully called her "Aunt Beatrice." Now, she was saying Beatrice was out of her mind. Was her son blind? How could he be interested in such a woman?

Beatrice took a deep breath and said, "Aurelia, don't be too greedy. Offering three million dollars already shows our sincerity. As long as you stop bothering my son, I can give you up to three and a half million dollars. I hope you can behave and stop contacting my son."

She took out a check from her bag, "Fill in the amount yourself, but don't think you can get a penny more from me."

Aurelia glanced at the check she handed over, chuckled lightly with a hint of disdain. "Beatrice, do you think three and a half million dollars is a lot? Haven't you seen real wealth before? Let me tell you, my children's annual tuition costs more than that. Also, it's your son who is clinging to me, begging me to get back together."

Beatrice's hand trembled as she held the check, and she didn't see Aurelia take it for a long time. As the lady of the Heilbronn family, being spoken to like this felt like a personal insult.

Beatrice wanted to retort, but her phone rang from her bag. She saw it was her son calling and answered in front of Aurelia, "Son, what's the matter?"

"Take Ashley and leave now, or you'll make me hate you," Nathaniel warned.

He had arranged for bodyguards to guard near Aurelia's house to prevent Marcus from harassing them. But ironically, the first ones to harass his wife and children were his own mother and sister.

Nathaniel sat in the car, his face dark and brooding. When he spoke to Beatrice, his tone was icy cold.

A mother knew her son best. Beatrice was well aware of her son's temperament. He had always been strong-willed and not easily swayed by others. Saying such words meant he was really angry. He actually said he would hate her. She was his mother!

Beatrice's lips trembled, and before she could speak, Nathaniel's warning cut through the air, "Keep yourself and your daughter in check, and don't appear in front of Aurelia again."

Beatrice's expression froze. "What, do I have to avoid her when I see her in Imperick?"

"Imperick is for everyone, but you and Ashley's mouths are really pushing it."

Nathaniel pinched his brow, having just received a call from his bodyguard, who was already speeding towards them. Saying these words made him feel terrible. His own mother never seemed to care about his happiness, only showing up monthly to ask for money.

What he couldn't stand the most was her disrupting his small family. He had pursued Aurelia for so long, and their relationship had finally started to improve, with many misunderstandings cleared up. But with his mother and sister causing trouble, all his efforts seemed wasted.
