Chapter 310 Staying at Someone Else's House is Inconvenient

"Has he bothered you again since the time at the golf course?"

Aurelia swallowed her food and replied, "There was also that time when you were sick with a fever. He came to your house after dawn, but I ran fast, and he didn't catch up."

Nathaniel was fuming with anger. He couldn't believe Marcus had chased Aurelia to his house! Absolutely no sense of decency!

Nathaniel said, "Aurelia, how about moving back to the Bloom Villa? Come back and see the things you left behind. Your favorite cup, kitchenware, the handmade crafts you made, and all your clothes are well-preserved. Betty has been taking good care of the flowers you planted, and they bloom every year."

Aurelia raised an eyebrow, not falling for his trick. Did he think a few words could coax her back? She wasn't the naive girl who married Nathaniel right after college anymore. Their relationship was over, and it was better to look forward rather than dwell on the past. Besides, men only slowed down her ability to make money.

"No, it's inconvenient to live in someone else's house."

Nathaniel paused. How could he call it someone else's house? It was her home!

"Have you looked at the things I gave you? Those properties are all yours now!"

He didn't respond and thought to himself, "As long as you want, we can have homes all over Imperick! We can buy any property."

Aurelia licked the jam off the corner of her lips. "No matter whose property it is, I just want to live in the house my mom left me."

Nathaniel felt stifled but didn't dare to say it out loud. He thought, "Living in your mom's house is fine, but can Joe not come in?"

He was anxious but had no way to deal with Joe.

Aurelia had no idea about Nathaniel's inner turmoil. She just thought he was trying to trick her into going back to the Bloom Villa, even using a room full of bags to tempt her.

Aurelia didn't rely on men for her life. She was very wealthy, had her own children, and a career she loved. Why bother getting involved with Nathaniel again? Wasn't living alone just fine?

They chatted idly, and someone in the crowd grabbed a microphone and announced a Scripted Role-Playing Game that everyone had to participate in to leave the building today.

Aurelia had never seen a Scripted Role-Playing Game that required so many participants. How many stories did the scriptwriter have to weave in? It was like a micro-novel.

Luckily, the venue was large enough. Oscar had booked the entire largest hotel in Imperick, all twenty-three floors, enough to accommodate everyone.

The host started handing out cards from a big box, and they had indeed prepared a giant script.

Aurelia's role was an ER doctor who needed to save a patient to get the next clue. To save the patient, she had to give them water.

Her first task was to find the patient, who was on the top floor.

Everyone started moving after receiving their task cards.

Aurelia hesitated about whether to start the game immediately. Her foot still hurt, and Zack came in with a bag. Nathaniel had told him the exact location over the phone.

Zack had been here before and found the dessert area accurately.

Zack said, "Mrs. Heilbronn, I brought your flats and some medicine. Check if you need anything else, and I'll get it."

Aurelia awkwardly thanked Zack, who arrived sweating. She had told Nathaniel not to trouble Zack, but he still brought the items late at night.

Nathaniel took the bag from Zack and pulled out the shoes for Aurelia. She felt awkward. Even when she was Mrs. Heilbronn, she hadn't enjoyed such treatment. Now, in public, it felt even stranger. The dignified Mr. Heilbronn of the Heilbronn Group putting shoes on a woman, not caring if others saw, felt like a declaration of ownership.

It was as if he wanted the whole world to know they were back together.

Aurelia wasn't a fool, she would never let his schemes succeed.

"You can leave now."

She took out the flats from the bag and put them on. Zack had brought the pair she bought four years ago, barely worn and still looking new.

Nathaniel, seeing her satisfied with the shoes, told Zack, "You can go rest now. I'll leave you an employee discount card for today's internal sale."

Zack, holding back his joy, said, "Mr. Heilbronn, should I wait outside? In case Mrs. Heilbronn needs anything, I can get it for her."

Aurelia immediately said, "No need, I don't need anything else. Zack, go rest. You have work tomorrow."

She had nothing to do with Nathaniel now and didn't want to trouble his assistant. Zack was a prominent figure in the company, and only Nathaniel could command him. Without Nathaniel's orders, even other executives wouldn't dare to instruct him.

Zack thought to himself, 'I'm not afraid of hard work at all! Good things always happen when I help Mrs. Heilbronn. I've been eyeing the new employee discount card for a while but didn't dare ask Mr. Heilbronn. After all, there are only five in the whole company.'

He was planning to get married this year and could use the card to buy jewelry for his fiancée, saving half the money while still getting high-end brands. Such good things should happen every day!

If he could, he would deliver things to Aurelia every day!

"Mrs. Heilbronn, I'm not tired. Call me if you need anything."

Zack left happily with the car keys, even taking Aurelia's high heels as an excuse to see her again.

With band-aids on her feet, Aurelia could walk without pain.

She held her task card and casually grabbed a bottle of water from the drink area.

"I need to complete my task. Mr. Heilbronn, you should hurry too."

Everyone in the hall was moving, each with their own task. More than half had already gone upstairs to complete their tasks.

Aurelia followed the crowd upstairs.

Nathaniel was entranced by her beautiful back, the large expanse of exposed, fair, and delicate skin made him uneasy. He really wanted to drape his jacket over her.

Aurelia reached the top floor and found it structured differently from the other floors, with only one room, likely a presidential suite.

Exiting the elevator, she saw a large activity area with sofas, many entertainment facilities, and walls lined with red wine.

Aurelia's eyes fixed on a figure by the floor-to-ceiling window. Before she could see clearly, the lights went out, plunging the room into darkness.

Aurelia took a moment to adjust her vision.

By the moonlight, she saw the tall figure standing by the window, feeling inexplicably anxious. She wiped the sweat from her palms and turned to press the elevator button.

But she forgot there was a power outage, and the elevator was unusable in that moment.

"Aurelia, you're here?"

Can't win me back
