Chapter 170 Making a Will

"Mr. Heilbronn, don't scare me," Ted pleaded, terrified.

A nurse ran for the doctor while another grabbed a basin in case Reed coughed up more blood. The ward was chaotic.

Ted was shaking; Reed couldn't handle this stress.

Within minutes, the dean and several doctors rushed in. If anything happened to Reed, the hospital's reputation would be at stake.

Norman and his family stood there, stunned. Chelsea thought Reed would scold her since he didn't like her. She never expected him to stay silent and then cough up blood. What if Nathaniel found out? She was terrified and clueless.

Sensing danger, Norman quickly ushered Chelsea and Maria out. "Let's go now."

If Reed got seriously hurt, Nathaniel could ruin his small company.

They had messed up without any gain, and Norman realized he had taken a gamble and lost. He hadn't expected Reed to react so violently, and it shook him, too.

After getting a call from Ted, Nathaniel rushed to the hospital. When he got to Reed's ward, he found Matthew and Marcus sitting outside, looking grim.

As Nathaniel approached, Matthew slapped him. "I've seen rich kids fool around with women, but I've never seen anyone make their grandfather cough up blood. You caused this mess; can't you handle it?"

Ted had already filled them in. Matthew was furious. In his eyes,Nathaniel had always been stubborn and disobedient. This disaster was now in full swing.

Matthew regretted not disciplining Nathaniel properly. He felt responsible for tarnishing the Heilbronn family's name.

Recently, the early marriage of the Heilbronns' eldest son had caused a stir online. Just a few days later, a mistress with a bastard was added to the mix. If this got out, the Heilbronn Group's stock would plummet.

The slap left finger marks on Nathaniel's face. After a moment of silence, Nathaniel asked, "How is Grandpa?"

Matthew, with his hands behind his back, scolded, "How dare you ask? If I were you, I'd get rid of that woman now to prevent more trouble!"

Marcus stood up, trying to defend Nathaniel, "Matthew, calm down. That woman is disgraceful, but she's carrying the Heilbronn family's child. How do you expect a father to handle his unborn child? Nathaniel can't bring himself to do anything harsh."

Marcus' words fail to calm Matthew butonly made him angrier. "You're a married man; you should know that even if you fool around, it's just a fling. Do you really think you can marry that woman? If you can't control yourself, you should be ready to deal with the consequences. Do you need someone else to teach you that?"

Nathaniel stayed silent under the barrage of insults. He had taken precautions, and Zack had confirmed that Chelsea had taken the necessary medication. Accidents happened, and Chelsea's pregnancy was unexpected. Even if he complained to have the contraceptive pill withdrawn from the market, it wouldn't change the outcome.

He didn't want the child Chelsea was carrying, but forcing her to abort would make her unable to conceive again.

Nathaniel never expected Chelsea to confront Reed and make him cough up blood.

Reed was still unconscious, and the troublemaker, Chelsea, had vanished.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, Norman, and Maria returned to Bloom Villa, the house Nathaniel had bought for Chelsea.

Chelsea realized how serious things were. All she could do now was pray Reed would be okay. If not, even having the baby wouldn't save her from Nathaniel's wrath. She felt her chances of becoming Mrs. Heilbronn slipping away.

"Dad, your terrible idea got us into this mess. If something happens to Reed, we can't stay in Imperick," she said, almost in tears.

Norman, just as worried, tried to stay calm before Chelsea and and Maria. "Don't worry. I've checked with the hospital. They said Reed is stable and just sleeping. He'll be fine when he wakes up."

Chelsea scoffed, "Dad, do you think we're safe just because Reed is okay? Have you only just met Nathaniel today?"

Norman couldn't keep up the act. "Chelsea, you stay here. Your mom and I will go home first. If anything happens, we'll contact you."

Chelsea was shocked. It seemed like he was planning to abandon her. "Dad, are you serious?"

The idea was his, but now that things had gone south, he seemed ready to bail.

Norman paused before saying, "Chelsea, with the Heilbronn's child in your belly, Nathaniel won't harm you. If he finds out your mom and I were involved, he'll ruin me. My company just got out of a crisis and isn't profitable yet. It can't handle Nathaniel's anger."

With that, Norman went to change his shoes.

Chelsea followed, shouting, "Dad, you can't just leave me alone!"

Norman said, "Chelsea, look at this villa. Nathaniel bought it without hesitation, showing he cares for you and the baby. Trust me. He won't harm you. Try to understand; the Thompson family can't afford another crisis. If Nathaniel asks, say it was your idea, and I had nothing to do with it."

Chelsea was so angry that tears welled up. Norman had assured her in the hospital that Reed would be thrilled to have a great-grandchild, but now he was planning to escape, abandoning her.

Norman got ready and gave Maria a look, signaling her to leave before Nathaniel arrived.

Maria scoffed, "You go ahead; I'll stay with Chelsea." She couldn't leave Chelsea behind. If Nathaniel came for revenge, she would offer her life for Chelsea's future happiness.

Norman, frustrated, muttered, "Stupid woman!"

Back at the hospital, the family waited until evening, and Reed finally woke up.

After checking him, the doctor called Matthew out to explain some precautions. Thankfully, it wasn't serious.

Looking around, Reed noticed the whole family was there, except for Aurelia.

It was better this way that she hadn't been noticed yet. She had been feeling unwell during the morning's tomb-sweeping ceremony, and he didn't want to worry her more.

"Ted, get a pen. Since everyone is here, let's draft a will now," Reed instructed.

The mood immediately darkened at the mention of a will.

Matthew tried to reassure him, "Dad, it's not that serious yet."

But Reed was thinking about what surprise his grandson might bring next. It was crucial to draft the will while he was still clear-headed.
