Chapter 28 I'll Help You.
When Chelsea arrived at the chairman's office, Nathaniel was still working and didn't even look up to acknowledge her presence.
"Nathaniel, what do you want to see me about?"
Nathaniel instinctively glanced at the closed door, making Chelsea feel a bit uneasy. She thought, ‘I just addressed him as 'Nathaniel' in the office. He doesn’t have to be strict to such an extent to avoid arousing suspicion at all, does he? I have been calling him Nathaniel for over a decade.’
Nathaniel put down his pen and spoke seriously, "Chelsea, you've spent three years abroad and have many friends in the industry. Do you have any way to contact the designer Lolly?" Chelsea felt at ease in his office, casually hanging her bag on his coat rack before moving behind him to give him a shoulder massage.
"You mean Swan's designer, Lolly?"
Nathaniel nodded. "Yes. Chelsea, please stop. Come and sit in front of me. We need to discuss business."
Chelsea reluctantly took a seat on the sofa opposite him. They were so far apart that she wanted to move the couch closer.
Hearing Nathaniel mention Lolly, Chelsea cautiously asked, "Lolly only releases two designs a year, and each one becomes a global sensation. But she seems to have a bad reputation, either for not socializing with the design community or because she's too unattractive to face the public. Why do you want to approach her?"
Nathaniel replied directly, "The industry is highly competitive now. If I can invite Lolly to join the Heilbronn Group, it will boost the company’s development."
Chelsea felt a bit displeased, thinking that he only saw her as a business partner and didn't pay attention to her efforts. She had even put on lipstick before coming.
"Nathaniel, isn't my help enough? You even said that my recent work has the essence of Lolly's design, and our new product will surely make a splash."
Nathaniel glanced at her and said, "Chelsea, those are two separate matters. Having you on board is great. After all, who would complain about having a talented designer? I've heard that Lolly is a Saleehish, which shows that our country's aesthetic standards are leading the world. So, the Heilbronn Group's jewelry should also reach a higher level."
After Nathaniel finished speaking, he looked disappointed, and his gaze returned to the pile of documents on the table. "I think that after spending so long abroad, you would have some connections with Lolly. It's fine if you can't reach her. I can use other means to find her contact information."
Chelsea became more worried, thinking, 'Is he looking down on me?'
"Nathaniel, it’s true that I don’t know her, but it doesn't mean I can't find out about Lolly. I'll ask my friends, and I'm sure I can help you find her within three days."
Nathaniel replied casually, "There's no need to go through all that trouble. I think it should be easy to find someone. If the rumors are true and she is a Saleehish and still in the country, then it's even better."
Chelsea fell silent for a moment, looking at him with a pair of innocent eyes, and said, "Nathaniel, can we go eat now? I've made a reservation."
Nathaniel looked into her eyes, but suddenly, Aurelia's blue eyes appeared in his mind. Her eyes were beautiful when she smiled, and they captivated him.
Aurelia found the restaurant where Ulysses was. She realized it was actually a romantic restaurant, with dim orange-toned lights, tables adorned with roses of different colors, and soothing love songs playing in the background.
Anyone who walked in would feel the romantic atmosphere.
It was definitely a great place for a date.
Aurelia went to the restroom first to touch up her lipstick, and then she quickly applied some eyeliner to the corners of her eyes—just a subtle touch, as her blue eyes were already charming enough.
She admired herself in the mirror, as all girls do. Aurelia used to wear makeup before, but there were a few times when she came back from outside with her eye makeup, and Nathaniel would mock her.
After several incidents, she learned about Nathaniel’s preferences and stopped wearing eye makeup.
Generally, Aurelia would at most, enhanced her brows and applied a touch of everyday lipstick. Occasionally, she simply wore sunscreen before venturing out. She never indulged in cosmetics while at home.
Today, she had a mission to fulfill: She had to help Ulysses sabotage the blind date. So, Aurelia put on an exquisite makeup.
Her phone vibrated, and it was a message from Ulysses asking for help. [Table 7, come quickly.]
Aurelia made a few faces in the mirror, then grabbed her bag and headed towards Table 7.
Ulysses and the girl across from him had just sat down, ordered a set meal that hadn't arrived yet and was in the midst of an awkward conversation.
"Ulysses, I've been looking for you!" When Ulysses heard Aurelia's voice, he felt like he had found a savior.
"Aurelia, come over here."
He waved at Aurelia and then introduced her to the girl across the table, "Ms. Young, I'm really sorry. My dad didn't know I had a girlfriend, which led to this misunderstanding. This meal is on us, and I hope you don't mind."
Laura Young, sitting across from them, felt embarrassed. Thinking that Ulysses had brought his girlfriend to the blind date and that his girlfriend was especially beautiful, she now felt like she was the one affecting their relationship.
"Mr. Lopez, I have something else to do so that I won't join you for the meal." After speaking, Laura grabbed her bag and left, leaving Aurelia and Ulysses alone at the table.
"She's quite pretty. Aren't you going to try dating women?"
Ulysses lightly patted Aurelia. "Is it that easy to switch?"
Aurelia slowly unwrapped a new set of cutlery.
"Why don't you be honest with your father and tell him that you don't like women? Otherwise, he'll always try to find you a girlfriend."
"Do you think I don't want to? My dad probably has some idea, but he won't give up and keeps bugging me. How have you been lately? Has Nathaniel been giving you a hard time?"
Aurelia took a sip from her glass and said with a hint of sadness, "We're going to get a divorce. He can't hurt me anymore. I don't care about anything now."
Ulysses snorted, indicating that he didn’t believe it.
"I don't think so. You won't give up your feelings for him so easily."
"By the way, I started working at the Heilbronn Group today as an assistant in the design department. It's the position he arranged for me."
Aurelia laughed helplessly.
Upon hearing that, Ulysses cursed, "Nathaniel should go see an eye doctor! It's his honor to have you at his company. Nathaniel appointed you as an assistant. He must be out of his mind. Did that woman cause trouble for you?"
Aurelia sighed and comforted Ulysses. "Don't worry. I have a big gift to give to Chelsea, but it's not yet the right time. Don't forget, all the works she brought into the Heilbronn Group were stolen from me."
Ulysses sneered, "You're really calm. If it were me, I would give this big gift to her right now."
"No rush. My goal is to get a divorce as soon as possible. I can't let unimportant people delay my plans."
Aurelia thought, 'I'll take care of everything after I finish the divorce procedures and regain my freedom. There's no need to rush for revenge. I've never been someone who suffers losses. I'll make sure to deal with everyone who needs to be dealt with.'
Ulysses' gaze paused near Aurelia's belly for a few seconds. "Don't be afraid, I'll help you. If you have a child, I'll take care of it. If you don't want to get married again after your divorce, we can live together. I've also given up on love."
Aurelia really wanted to ask her good friend what role he played in love. She looked up and met a deep gaze from several seats away.
The air seemed to freeze for a moment, and she couldn't help but feel a chill.
Nathaniel was sitting not far away, but Aurelia didn't know if he had heard their conversation just now. Considering the distance, he could have heard it.
Aurelia could clearly hear Chelsea, who was sitting with Nathaniel, flipping through the menu and playfully asking him what dish would be better.
Nathaniel and Aurelia locked eyes for a few seconds, and he suddenly stood up and walked towards her.
At that moment, her mind was in a turmoil.
