Chapter 26 Do You Want a Divorce?

Compared to Tiffany, Aurelia remained calm.
"Why is everyone so excited? He's not that special."
Tiffany's face lit up with admiration. "We've seen a lot of handsome and wealthy men, but only Mr. Heilbronn embodies both qualities. He's everyone's ideal husband."
Following everyone's gaze, Aurelia noticed Nathaniel at a distant table with a sophisticatedly dressed lady adorned with jewelry. They seemed engrossed in a business discussion.
Aurelia hadn't paid much attention to him earlier. Still, now, as she observed Nathaniel closely, she noticed his meticulously tailored suit, complemented by a deep blue tie. The shirt cuff was released as he reached for his coffee. He exuded elegance when he took a sip of his coffee. He sat there, exuding charisma, adding a touch of charm to the cafe.
Just then, Nathaniel glanced in their direction before returning to his conversation with the lady.
Aurelia refocused her attention and took Tiffany to the counter to order coffee.
Forty cups was no small number. The barista informed them that the coffee beans were running low and that they needed to fetch more from the warehouse. It would take at least an hour to prepare all the coffee.
After paying, the two of them stood idly at the counter.
Unable to resist, Aurelia turned to look and saw Nathaniel looking intently at his phone with his index finger tapping rapidly on the screen. Suddenly, Aurelia felt her phone vibrate.
It was a message from him. [I ask you to come to work, not to buy coffee to bribe your colleagues. Is this how you work?]
Aurelia pocketed her phone, choosing not to reply.
Beside her, Tiffany whispered, "Aurelia, what kind of wife do you think Mr. Heilbronn will have in the end?"
Then, she mumbled to herself, "She must be incredibly beautiful."
The coffee was ready exactly an hour later. That hour had been torturous for Aurelia.
Given that it was too much for a girl to carry, the cafe had assigned a waiter to help with the delivery while Aurelia and Tiffany led the way.
Aurelia paid a total of $1340 for the coffee. Aurelia took a picture of the receipt and sent it to Chelsea. A few seconds later, Chelsea transferred $1400 to her account with a note: [You did a good job. Use the extra money for your taxi tonight.]
Aurelia chuckled, accepted the money, and returned $60 to Chelsea.
"Please take care of the water bill for the apartment in the Jade Community so the managerial staff won't call me again."
Back in the office, Chelsea instructed a colleague sitting next to her to distribute the coffee. She handed the last cup to Tiffany and, apologetically, said to Aurelia, "I'm sorry, there's no more coffee left."
Aurelia waved her hand and replied, "That's okay. I'm not a coffee person."
She focused on tidying her desk. At that moment, Tiffany discreetly pushed her cup of coffee towards Aurelia and said, "Aurelia, please have my coffee. I've been having trouble sleeping lately."
Aurelia looked up and saw sincerity in the eyes of this recent graduate, unlike the experienced employees in the workplace.
Aurelia placed the coffee back on Tiffany's desk and said, "Thank you, Tiffany. But I really can't drink coffee."
She didn't explain why. Pregnant women were advised to avoid coffee and stick to water and milk.
But why was Chelsea able to drink coffee? Wasn't she afraid it would harm her child?
The morning passed, and Chelsea didn't assign any more tasks to Aurelia, leaving her with some time to work on her design to make up for the one Chelsea had plagiarized.
During lunchtime, Ted called, and Aurelia hurried to the stairwell to
answer the phone.
"Mrs. Aurelia, Mr. Reed instructed me to deliver lunch to you and Mr. Nathaniel. Should I bring it to the restaurant or the CEO's office?"
Upon hearing Ted's suggestion of dining out, Aurelia responded hastily. "Ted, please bring the meal to the CEO's office."
She didn't dare to eat the meal sent by the Heilbronn family in a public place; it would undoubtedly cause a big stir. But the thought of going to the CEO's office made her feel uneasy.
"Ted, I don't have much of an appetite today. Just bring some milk. You can put the food directly in the CEO's office, and Nathaniel will eat it."
On the other end of the line, Ted felt awkward.
"Mrs. Aurelia, Mr. Reed instructed the chef to cook salmon for you. It was imported from Alisere. He's afraid that Mr. Nathaniel might eat it, so he specifically asks me to watch you eat it. So, please don't make it difficult for me." Aurelia, feeling helpless, could only agree. "Alright."
She wouldn't make things difficult for an old man.
Aurelia declined Tiffany's lunch invitation. She waited until most of the people had gone downstairs to eat before sneaking into the elevator and pressing the button for the nineteenth floor.
She made her way to the CEO's office, feeling like a thief.
Ted was already waiting for her in the office.
There was an abundant meal set up on the table by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Nathaniel was still busy with his work.
Ted saw Aurelia come in and smiled as he took the precious salmon out of his bag and handed it to her. "Mary made it early in the morning, and it's all cleaned up. Please have a taste."
Aurelia took the salmon with both hands and ate a small bite with a fork. Ted looked at the well-prepared meal and smiled with relief. "Please enjoy your meal, Mr. Heilbronn and Mrs. Heilbronn. I'll go downstairs first and come back later to clean up."
Nathaniel finally looked up from his documents, his face twisted in disdain, as he said, "Don't bring food here in the future. How am I supposed to work with my office full of the smell of the food?"
His office was decorated in a typical minimalist style, much like his study at home, with a color scheme of black, white, and gray. It was definitely the work of a famous designer who designed the spacious office to be both simple and high-end. The dining table in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows didn't match the rest of the office's decor.
Aurelia agreed with Nathaniel's opinion, which was rare for the couple. "Ted, you really don't need to bring food. I can go downstairs to eat."
Ted forced a smile and said, "Mr. Reed said that I have to come over every day to deliver meals. Mrs. Aurelia can make a menu and send it to me."
Nathaniel's face instantly darkened. Ted quickly left before Nathaniel could get angry. He called Reed downstairs. "Mr. Reed, they've had their meal. You don't have to worry. In less than two months, Mrs. Aurelia will definitely get pregnant."
Reed laughed, "You're doing a good job. Continue to deliver meals to them tomorrow."
After Ted left, there were only two people left in the office. Aurelia slowly ate the salmon and had no intention of speaking first.
Nathaniel's work was interrupted, and he finally got up from his desk and walked towards the balcony. "Sit down and eat," he said.
Ted had already brought the meal. Nathaniel could do nothing. He could disobey Reed’s order.
Aurelia finished the salmon and sat down across from him.
The two of them ate in silence, like strangers.
The food today tasted a bit strange, yet Nathaniel couldn't figure out why, but he didn't mind. He thought it wouldn't harm him since it was sent by his grandpa’s servant.
Aurelia didn't eat much and then put down her fork to carefully survey Nathaniel’s office. In addition to the work area, there was actually a rest area behind it. She could see a wardrobe from a distance.
"Looks like you are curious about my office?" The two of them remained silent for a long time, and Nathaniel was the first to speak. "You can go in and take a look."
Aurelia turned her face to meet his gaze, and after a few seconds, she pursed her lips and joked, "You're not hiding a woman in there, are you?"
Nathaniel was a little annoyed.
"You suspect me of hiding a woman all the time. Am I that desperate in
your eyes?"
Aurelia followed his words. "It seems so."
"Do you really have to divorce me?"
"Or what?"
Nathaniel became even angrier. Aurelia pointed to the rest area inside and asked, "Is there really nothing in there that I shouldn't see?"
Can't win me back
