Chapter 511 Will It Be Dangerous

Nathaniel felt a lump in his throat. He had said those words before, and now they were being used against him. He couldn't really complain.

The car pulled into the parking lot, and he stayed put.

"Aurelia, can you just come with me? I want to travel the world with you."

Aurelia chuckled, finally getting her chance to speak.

"Nate, when I wanted to go before, you wouldn't come with me. Now you want to go, and you expect me to drop everything? I have a family to take care of, a company to run, and kids who need me."

Aurelia wasn't wrong. She was in high demand, with calls coming in all day, and at home, her two kids were always vying for her attention.

Nathaniel sighed, a hint of affection in his eyes. He regretted his past words deeply.

In the early years of their marriage, he had just taken over the company and was swamped with restructuring and managing staff. He often didn't have time to come home, let alone travel.

He admitted he had been dismissive back then.

"Aurelia, I was wrong. I'll rearrange my work schedule. Wherever you want to go, we'll find the time. From now on, let's make it a point to travel at least once a year, okay?"

He added, "We'll make up for all the trips we missed. You can list the places you want to visit, and we'll check them off one by one."

Aurelia felt a sense of relief. If only he had said something like this back then, she wouldn't have held onto the resentment for so long.

"Do you really have the time now? Are you sure the company can run without you?"

Nathaniel scratched his head. "The company is stable now. If anything comes up, I can handle it remotely. I'll leave Zack in charge. Plus, Uncle Marcus is back, so things won't fall apart."

Aurelia stopped dwelling on the past. "Are we taking the kids with us?"

Nathaniel hesitated. He wanted to make up for their missed honeymoon, and bringing the kids along would be less fun and more complicated.

"Not this time. We'll take them on another trip."

Aurelia agreed. Traveling with the kids would be exhausting, and she wanted to explore local markets and find some unique souvenirs.

"Alright, let's go to Casaviya for my birthday this year."

Nathaniel nodded.

That evening, Joe's flight landed.

Nathaniel and Aurelia picked up their kids and dropped them off at their grandfather's. They booked a hotel and met Joe for dinner.

Joe wasn't too friendly with Nathaniel, thanks to the trouble caused by Nathaniel's mom and uncle.

Aurelia sat between them, trying to ease the tension and pouring drinks.

"Joe, did you finish handling things with Imperick?"

Joe glanced at Nathaniel before replying, "It's done. But the outcome might not be what Nate wants to hear."

Nathaniel, caught off guard, put down his glass. "Whether you believe it or not, Joe, I never intended to interfere. Whether it was Thaddeus or anyone else, it had nothing to do with me. You wouldn't hold me responsible, would you?"

Joe snorted. Luckily, Nathaniel had stayed out of it. Otherwise, they wouldn't be having this dinner.

"Your mom came to see me yesterday. I didn't agree to her request."

Joe's words made Nathaniel and Aurelia uncomfortable.

Beatrice was a nuisance.

Nathaniel felt embarrassed by his mother for the first time. She had begged Aurelia during the day and then flown to Imperick to plead with Joe. He could only imagine how humiliating it was. Joe certainly didn't have kind words for her.

"Sorry for the trouble, Joe."

Joe looked at Nathaniel with a bit more respect. Nathaniel hadn't defended his uncle, showing he had his priorities straight. Reed had chosen the right successor.

Joe got to the point. "What do you know about Burry's situation?"

Nathaniel opened a file on his phone and handed it to Joe.

"The situation is complicated. The drug lord is under surveillance by European police, but he's deeply entrenched and powerful. The police want to take him down completely.

"We have access to Burry's medical records. She's being treated at the best hospital for her condition. The drug lord is trying to find a match for her. She's lacking freedom, but she's well-guarded by mercenaries. It's hard for anyone to get close."

Joe tapped his fingers on the table, thinking quickly.

"Is there any chance of rescuing her?"

Nathaniel shook his head. "Even if we got her out, it would be hard to bring her back. We could try a private jet, but it would require precise planning. If the drug lord gets suspicious, Burry will be even more closely watched."

Joe rubbed his temples. "I studied there and know some people in law enforcement. I'll see what I can find out."

Aurelia urged, "Nathaniel, ask him now."

Joe pulled out his phone and made a call, not caring about the time difference. He walked to the window to take the call.

"Hans, any updates on what I asked you to look into?"

After listening for a moment, Joe asked, "When are you planning to act? Do you have a specific time?"

"Okay, keep me posted on any new developments."

Joe returned to the table. "The European police are planning to act soon, but the exact timing is confidential."

Aurelia asked, "Should we have someone ready to help Burry? The police won't treat her like a criminal, will they?"

Nathaniel took over. "I've had a private investigator following her for a while. They know her routine and medical appointments. If necessary, I'll go to Elvenia and wait for the right moment."

Joe looked at Nathaniel, surprised. He knew it wouldn't be easy and could be dangerous.

Nathaniel's offer to risk his life for Aurelia's sister was unexpected. Joe had thought Nathaniel didn't care much for Aurelia, but now he was unsure.

"I'll find the right person."

Nathaniel replied calmly, "Burry is not just Aurelia's sister. She's also someone my uncle cares about. It's my duty to help."

Aurelia looked at Nathaniel. "Will it be dangerous?"

Nathaniel didn't want to lie to her, but he couldn't reassure her either.

Can't win me back
